Find Life Coach | Meet Jenny Toh: How to Find Your True Values and Align with Who You Really Are?

Jenny Toh is one of the coaches that we found this month and we did a little interview with her. She impressed us with her honest and grounded approach to coaching.

Even though she started her coaching career 2 years ago she had a calling toward helping people live more authentic lives almost all her life.

Her resilience and dedication helped her launch her coaching business even though she was within an environment of naysayers. And her love for helping and connecting with her clients helps her business grow faster than others.

She is approaching each client uniquely to their own uniqueness. She helps people gain clarity about who they really are and what their true values happen to be so they can align and live more authentic lives. Here is what she said.

Meet Life Coach Jenny Toh:

find-life-coach-jenny-toh

Name: Jenny Toh
Pillar: The Spirit, The Mind
Who is this coach for: Anyone who wants to gain clarity about who they really are and be more authentic to their truest self.
How they can help: Through conversation, reflection and understanding one’s self and limiting beliefs.

First of all, how are you and your family doing in these Pandemic times?

I have 3 school going kids (1 teenage son and 2 pre-teen girls) and adjusting to home-based learning in the earlier part of the pandemic with my husband and I working was definitely a challenge.

However, we have all since adjusted and adapted. Right now, we are just relieved that the restrictions here in Singapore have been lifted.

How does the coronavirus pandemic affect your clients? Did it affect you at all?

It’s this increased sense of uncertainty – when will the pandemic end?

People have a tendency to put their lives on hold, to wait out the pandemic. There is also an increase in stress especially when the boundaries of home and work have blurred for all of us.

I am a planner by nature so the pandemic definitely disrupted my plans.

I was faced with the question if I should launch my business during the pandemic or wait it out.

I am glad that I followed my heart and went ahead to start my business. If I kept waiting, I would still be waiting until today!

What are the biggest lessons that you learned in this pandemic?

Despite differences in background, culture and life experiences, we are all going through the same emotions during this pandemic. It is important to remind ourselves that we are not alone, to reach out for help when we need to and not to suffer in silence.

It brought to the forefront the importance of communities. I also learnt to truly count my blessings and be appreciative of the daily successes.

We all have daily successes. We just need to be present enough to notice them.

The Origin:

Tell us about you, your career, how you started with your coaching career?

I am lawyer, qualified to practise in the U.K., Malaysia and Singapore. I started my legal career in Malaysia as a trial attorney and then moved to Singapore where I worked as a derivatives legal counsel.

I transitioned into coaching because as a Christian, I believe this is what God is calling me into in this phase of my life. It was an overnight transition. I rationalized intellectually that life coaching wouldn’t work for me.

However, the pull towards it was so strong that I couldn’t put it off. I decided to take a leap of faith and trained as a coach in 2019.

I then started my company, River Life Coaching Pte. Ltd. in April 2020, at the peak of the pandemic. I am happy to say that looking back, it was one of the best decisions in my life although it didn’t feel like it then.

My business is now 2 years old and growing. I am also an International Coaching Federation (ICF) Professional Certified Coach with over 500 hours of coaching under my belt. What an amazing journey it has been for me and I can’t wait to see what lies ahead!

What was your biggest obstacle that you had to overcome in your life that made you who you are today?

Moving to the U.K. to study law as I had a lot of naysayers who didn’t believe I could do it. They took the view that being as introverted as I am, I would not have the capabilities to be a lawyer.

I am grateful that my parents supported me throughout with my decision and I am proud of doing what I set out to do.

The Coaching Style:

How do you innovate with coaching your clients?

It’s always about your clients, never about you as the coach. I am always reminded by my mentors to “trust the client, trust the process”.

Trusting the client means that you truly believe that your client has all the answers within themselves or that they have the inner capabilities, strengths and resources to come through. As the coach, I serve them by shining the light on what they don’t see about themselves.

Trusting the process means that the coaching conversation is framed in a manner that allows for safely and confidentiality and provides a judgment free conversation for the client to be at ease to be themselves with the coach. It’s to partner with the client to discover their true potential in any given situation.

What’s unique about your coaching approach?

I help my clients reconnect with their core values and who they truly are.

Once they are clear of their authentic selves, they also become clearer of the next steps that they have to take to reach their goals and to live life purposefully.

What benefits do your clients get after working with you?

Clarity of their values, understanding of their true selves, awareness of their inner judge and saboteurs in their minds that are holding them back and have strategies to deal with them.

They become more confident to live authentically and to define success on their own terms.

Do you use any specific tools to be efficient with your clients?

Not really, as each client is unique and different.

However, for my clients who haven’t experienced coaching before and do not know where to start in terms of what to be coached on, the Wheel of Life is a good exercise to evaluate your fulfilment in the various areas of your life.

The Impact:

If you had a super megaphone that, when you speak into, the whole world will hear your message, what would you say?

My primary message is for my introverted clients.

Introversion is not a sign of weakness. Embrace your introversion and be empowered to make an impact in this world in your own unique ways.

What is the greatest lesson you have learned in your life?

Align your life with your values and stay focused on your higher goals.

Trust that things will fall into place. Setbacks and failures offer the opportunity to grow and progress.

Your final thoughts?

I like this quote (and book) by the late Richard Carlson – “don’t sweat the small stuff… and it’s all small stuff”.

It’s a good reminder for me especially when I have a tendency to worry. It’s all small stuff and at the end of the day, it doesn’t really matter what happens because each of us have the resilience to thrive through life’s challenges.

7 Ways How To Secure Your Family’s Financial Future

Finances are tricky, and they can be complicated to navigate when you have a family to support.

Utilities, mortgage, kids’ needs, the list goes on. It might be difficult to meet one’s financial obligations and simultaneously save for the future.

But it is vital to secure your family’s financial future, especially if you want them to have the same opportunities you had.

The times are changing, and the cost of living is only going up. You don’t want your family to struggle with debts and financial difficulties the way many people do.

So how can you protect your family’s financial future?

7 Ways How To Secure Your Family’s Finances:

how-to-secure-your-familys-financial-future

1. Adopt a long term financial view.

Spending money has an emotional component that can tempt you to make impulsive decisions with your finances.

Choices are influenced by what is most intriguing, opportunistic, and pleasurable at the time. Unfortunately, these short term decisions frequently result in long term consequences that aren’t ideal.

Instead of having that fourth consecutive trip to Hawaii or that new car every two years, focus on long term financial stability for your family.

Consider what will have the most impact on your future and make decisions accordingly.

You must start thinking about your family’s financial future now. It’s never too early to start saving for retirement, your kid’s college, or a rainy day fund. The sooner you invest, the better opportunities your money has to grow.

2. Plan for your estate.

Life can throw curveballs, and it’s always best to be prepared. If something were to happen to you, do you know what would happen to your assets and family? It’s time to start thinking about it.

You may also write a will or create a trust to express what you want to do with your property upon death.

The difference between a will and a trust is that a will goes through probate, a legal process, whereas a Trust doesn’t.

If you have children, a will is strongly recommended since you may have to name a guardian for them in the case of your death. You can also use a will to leave specific instructions for how you want your assets to be distributed.

A trust is a good idea if you have a lot of assets or if you want to avoid probate. You can use a trust to leave instructions for how you want your assets to be distributed after you die.

3. Eliminate debt from your life.

The overdue credit card bill, the car loan, student loans, debt can be a real burden. It can feel like you’re never going to get out from under it. But you can.

Eliminating debt from your life is one of the most thoughtful things you can do to secure your family’s financial future.

Start by making a budget and getting rid of any unnecessary expenses. Then, focus on paying off your debts, one by one.

It may not be easy, but having a clean slate and more money in your pocket each month will be worth it.

If you have several bad debts sitting on your credit report, you may want to consider contacting a debt relief company to help you get out of debt.

It is also recommended to start paying off the most significant debt first, then work your way down the list.

4. Start investing.

Investing in assets such as mutual funds, bonds, and stocks can play a pivotal role in securing your family’s financial future.

By allocating your funds into these vehicles, you open the door to potential growth over time.

Naturally, there are risks inherent in investing, but by aligning your choices with your risk tolerance, you stand to reap substantial financial rewards in the long run.

When embarking on your investment journey, it’s beneficial to consult with a financial advisor.

A knowledgeable advisor can assist in selecting suitable investments for your portfolio and provide guidance on how to nurture the growth of your assets.

Considering the importance of making informed financial decisions, it’s worthwhile to explore the offerings of the best national banks to ensure a solid foundation for your investment endeavors.

Diversifying your investments across various types of assets is a prudent strategy, avoiding the pitfalls of putting all your financial resources in one single avenue.

Make sure to get an expert advice on how to distribute your money across different types of investments instead of putting all your eggs in one basket.

5. Don’t let your family fall victim to fraud.

Fraud is a serious problem that can have devastating consequences for your family, both emotionally and financially.

It’s essential to be wary of the signs of fraud and to know what to do if you think you’ve been a victim.

Some common types of fraud include identity theft, phishing scams, and investment scams.

Identity theft can happen when someone steals your personal information and uses it to open new accounts or make purchases in your name.

Educating yourself and your family about fraud is the best way to prevent it from happening.

Keep your eyes peeled for warning signs like unexpected calls or emails from unknown people, and never share personal information unless you’re sure it’s safe.

6. Purchase the right insurance policies.

There was a time when you could go without insurance and still be OK financially if something went wrong.

But nowadays, the costs of healthcare and other emergencies are too high to risk not having insurance.

Health insurance is a must have for everyone in your family. If you have young children, be sure to purchase a policy that will cover them until they are adults. You should also consider life insurance, which can provide financial security for your family in the event of your death.

Consider purchasing disability insurance in addition to life insurance. It can replace a portion of your income if you become disabled and cannot work.

You can consult a financial advisor to determine which insurance policies are right for you and your family. They can help you compare different policies and choose the ones that best suit your situation.

7. Start early.

Remember the time when your firstborn threw tantrums for a piggy bank?

It’s never too early to start educating your children about money. The earlier you begin, the better equipped they will be to manage their finances as adults.

One way to start early is to give your children an allowance and help them budget it out.

Teach them the importance of saving by matching their contributions to a savings account.

As your children grow older, you can start teaching them about investing and the different types of assets they can invest in.

It’s essential to give them a solid foundation to make wise financial decisions when they become adults.

What you should you remember?

Handling money well may take a lot of compromising, budgeting, and self control.

But if you’re able to do it, the rewards are worth it.

You can secure your family’s financial future and provide them with a better quality of life.

So take some time to educate yourself and your family about personal finance.

It’s one of the best things you can do for them.

5 Ways How to Set Financial Goals and Reach Them Effectively

Whatever your income, it is likely you have financial targets, whether that is saving enough money to put down a deposit on your dream home, paying off a loan or bettering your credit rating to buy a new vehicle.

If you want to know how to reach your goals, look no further than these top five tips.

5 Ways How to Set Financial Goals:

how-to-set-financial-goals

1. Make a Budget and Stick to It.

Making time to take a long hard look at your incomings and outgoings is the only way you are going to understand your finances.

Firstly, list your monthly incomings, salary, benefits, and any other regular income.

Next, record all your fixed payments. These cost the same each month such as rent, phone contracts and direct debits for insurances.

Thirdly, list what you usually spend on any variable regular expenses: fuel, food, debts. When you’ve listed all your expenses, the amount left is your disposable income.

This can then be divided up to pay for anything else you need until the next pay day or to top up the amount in your variable expenses. Stick to a budget and you are one step closer to reaching your financial goal!

2. Top Up Your Income with a Side Hustle.

If there’s nothing you want to cut out of your expenditure, why not look for a side hustle to bring in some extra money?

It needn’t be anything as tiring as getting an evening job (although it could be, we’ve all heard the stories of actors and actresses working as waiters to top up their income).

Dog walking and cat sitting are popular sidelines for animal lovers and taking surveys on dedicated sites can be a good way to quickly make extra money, the amount offered for each survey is small but soon adds up and the beauty of surveys is they can be done anywhere, on a bus ride, while sunning yourself in the park, even in bed!

Car washing, gardening, and doing handywork for friends and neighbors can also bring in extra money. Think outside the box, everyone has skills they can utilize to make some additional money.

3. Use Cash Instead of Card.

When you can visually see the money leaving your wallet you think twice about what you are spending.

Instead of tapping your bank card or using Apple Pay, why not go back to using good old fashioned cash? You may find it saves you spending unnecessarily.

4. The 48 Hour Wait Period.

This one is a simple rule, but it can take a bit of adjusting to if you are a signed up member of the ‘one click’ society.

When shopping online, take time to browse.

You can add items to your favorites tab or place them in your basket but DON’T check out immediately.

Instead, give yourself 48 hours before going back to the site.

You may decide you don’t really need that third pair of Dr. Marten’s or yet another pair of black leggings after all.

5. Savings Pots.

Whether you go old school with a piggy bank or make use of a bank facility to save money in different subcategories of your account, savings pots are a great way to put money aside for a specific purpose.

What you should remember?

Facing your finances head on is the only way to reach your goals but you don’t need to do it alone.

There are masses of support on the internet with people Youtubing and Instragramming their own budgeting journeys.

Some, like Kumiko Love (also known as The Budget Mom), have free resources such as expenditure sheets and savings challenges to inspire you as you save.

You got this, all it takes it’s a little planning, not a big deal.

Find Life Coach | Meet Ren Skubala-Szafir: How to Revive and Revitalize Yourself?

Ren Skubala-Szafir is one of the coaches that we found this month and we did a little interview with her. She impressed us with her untiring dedication to her work.

She started with her coaching journey after a serious trauma in 2019, and she is progressing faster than most coaches we know.

Her dedication has pushed her to learn everything, from NLP, REBT, CBT to Christian coaching, fitness and nutrition in 2019 and she continues studying and upgrading her skillset. However, she is only using tools and techniques that she is certified to use.

But with the pace she is leveling up we are confident she’ll be able to tackle coaching from as many angles as there are really soon. She is such a wise person and shares really valuable lessons. Here is what she said.

Meet Life Coach Ren Skubala-Szafir:

find-life-coach-ren-skubala-szafir

Name: Ren Skubala-Szafir
Pillar: The Mind, The Body
Who is this coach for: Christian women who want help on their path in life, to revive and revitalize themselves, improve their health and wellbeing.
How they can help: Various tools and techniques she is certified to use like NLP, also health and nutrition guidance.

First of all, how are you and your family doing in these Pandemic times?

Thank you, we are as well as can be during such situations.

I’ve actually had my hands full looking after family members for a variety of reasons. We’ve had our difficulties to face, but then again, I don’t know of anyone who didn’t have at least a few difficulties in the last few years.

How does the coronavirus pandemic affect your clients? Did it affect you at all?

Everyone has been affected in different ways and the one thing we can all hold on common are the strong emotions that arise from the pandemic issues.

What are the biggest lessons that you learned in this pandemic?

Several lessons I have learned from this pandemic that felt like it was an extension of my trauma in some regard.

I was triggered on a few occasions which sent me right back to the basics of my training: to work on myself in such an unprecedented time.

I learned about the value of freedom, the right to think for ourselves, the value of equality and rights, the extremes of human behavior and how people don’t even know themselves until faced with situations, limitations as well as other factors such as social division, discrimination and the ways in which we need to be discerning of information.

I also witnessed the love, care and amazing ways people can act. The ways we can all work around issues and find solutions.

I can say with full certainty this pandemic only pushed me further on my journey that only had begun a year prior. Fueling my passion for coaching even more.

The Origin:

Tell us about you, your career, how you started with your coaching career?

To tell you about myself at this point of time, I am essentially a new woman and leading a very different life to who I was just a few years ago. This is all the result of why I am actually in this field now.

I started because of a major trauma, the second actually in under a decade. In 2013, I had experienced a major trauma that I survived. However, in 2019 what I experienced had stripped me of my identity.

I only had one reason to keep going and that was the only tiny spark of light in a dark tunnel, or better I should describe it as a ‘sinkhole’. As I focused on that spark, I found myself being able to navigate my way back, out of that space to what I could describe as ground zero.

Proverbially speaking, once I climbed from the underground back to the Earth’s surface I have a very different perspective of everything and that was the start of my studies in coaching.

I went through NLP, REBT, CBT, Christian coaching, fitness, nutrition, image and etiquette sessions which then furthered into actual classes and courses. This was now my first foundation built, and I started with one client, then two, then more.

Being quite time restricted due to family responsibilities and studying a PhD in Life Coaching, I limit the amount of coaching I take on at the moment.

I practice what I preach and every day I grind to build more levels as I have a strong passion for this field and a desire to continue using my experience, acquired knowledge and tools to help others. I have also become an Ordained Minister and regularly serve at Church.

I have recently allocated my coaching services into my registered business “Tsarina” which is where all my certified coaching is unleashed.

I primarily focus on Women’s christian holistic life coaching which include NLP, Health and Nutrition coaching. Additionally expanding into a few other areas that I am qualified and experienced in, such as dance training (Oryantal Dance), among other areas soon to be included in my services.

What was your biggest obstacle that you had to overcome in your life that made you who you are today?

It was overcoming the trauma, to an extent where I could really know who I was and feel like ‘myself’ again.

However the catch to that is, I had to essentially reinvent major parts of my sense of self, reintroduce elements of my former life that were not serving as a trigger to my trauma as the essence of who I was.

Just to be clear, everything I used to be, in how I term my “past life” was beautiful. I didn’t even know how much I had lost, until I did.

Not just myself as a person, but so much more that builds into what makes up our individual identity as people. It had all been destroyed. I had limited time to reestablish myself as my family and new life depended on it. I worked in such a speed, literally burning myself out.

There were days I couldn’t sleep. So I worked, my brain worked on overload to find ways and figure things out. I was almost like a computer until my health reminded me I was human.

I was doing so much at the early stages toward overcoming my trauma, it was not the right way, but I had no guidance at the early point of time. It wasn’t until I was directed toward life coaching that I started on the right path again.

As I mentioned there was only one little spark that was reason enough to keep going through the darkness. For all of that, what I have had to endure and pass through, not only did it turn me into a different person mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually but also brought with it new perspectives, experiences, knowledge and tools. A new essence of self in the world.

The Coaching Style:

How do you innovate with coaching your clients?

Currently my style of Life Coaching are Transformation, NLP, Health and Nutrition focused.

Keeping within the scope of practice, I work with my clients on these areas to help them achieve the motion they seek on their current life paths.

What’s unique about your coaching approach?

I believe because of my own experiences of what prompted me to even walk this path is already a starting point as what could be defined as my unique approach.

I don’t personally set out to be distinctive, I just put my passion into what I do and that drives me to want to be better as a coach, better as a person, to level up.

Life will never stop presenting circumstances that force us to expand upon where we stand. I’m just more aware of these steps now than I was previously and have access to tools for a smoother walk.

What benefits do your clients get after working with you?

The advantage of working with me is that my coaching input provides a holistic perspective and with that approach I strive for the client’s satisfaction as I take an interest in their welfare.

I also make sure that, prior to working with a client we have a compatibility as that is vital towards working together to achieve a desired outcome.

Like any type of relationship we have as people with others, there must be a suitable connection for it to provide us with what can be termed the ‘benefits’ of that association.

Do you use any specific tools to be efficient with your clients?

All of my tools in my coaching approach stem from both my experience personally blended with my certifications.

I only use the tools I am qualified to use, even if I have familiarity with more. I feel professionally obligated to stick within the scope of practice.

I am open to expanding professionally and in that instance once equipped to do so is when I implement something new into my professional tool kit.

The Impact:

If you had a super megaphone that, when you speak into, the whole world will hear your message, what would you say?

There are so many messages that I would say to different fractions of the world that it’s hard for me to summarize just one message.

However, to reach every human being via one message, would be to care for others, and receive care from others. That is a core part of what humanity should morally function as.

What is the greatest lesson you have learned in your life?

The greatest lesson I have learned is how precious time is.

I have come to understand how quickly the sun sets everyday and the fact that we wake up to see a new morning, to see the sky, the faces of our friends and family and just being able to breathe, move, drink a nice coffee or have a nice meal with our closest ones is a gift to not be taken for granted.

Not everyday will present as a lovable one, but we need to love everyday regardless.

Nothing lasts forever, just as there is bad there will be good. Just as the sunsets and rises.

Your final thoughts?

The future is unknown, but we do have today, this moment to step forward on our path, or even step into a new one.

It’s important to be grateful for everything we have right now, for we have a chance to make a difference and make things happen.

Spiritual Sovereignty: 3 Steps How to Reclaim Your Inner Power in a World Gone Mad

Dr. Dolores Fazzino, DNP, Nurse Practitioner, Medical Intuitive, Energy Whisperer.

Sovereignty, what is that?

It is the defining authority within an individual consciousness, and the power to do everything necessary to govern itself, complete independence, and authority. It is an independent path to becoming who you are, your true essence.

How many times have we given our power away to something outside of ourselves to determine our worth, abundance, or even our right to exist?

Maybe these have been subtle such as agreeing with another even though you do not agree, as to keep the peace. Or, very obvious, such as doing something out of fear, punishment, or retribution.

Spiritual Sovereignty is remembering who you are and why you are here on earth. It is reconnecting with the divine essence or energy of your soul.

3 Steps How to Reclaim Your Spiritual Sovereignty:

how-to-reclaim-your-spiritual-sovereignty

It seems counter to what many of us have experienced here on the earth plane. I believe part of my mission and journey on earth has been to reconnect with this aspect of myself.

Having lived through my unique journey here on earth, I have learned these three things that assisted me in becoming my independent authority.

1. Do what you can to raise your energetic vibration or frequency.

This can be done by doing mindful activities or anything that will get you out of your mind or head space and into your physical body.

Maybe going outdoors in nature, walking barefoot, listening to relaxing music, playing an instrument, cooking. Anything that makes you lose sense of time relaxes you. This is being in the present moment.

Meditation maybe another option.

The key to remember: it is not a one and done process.

Continue to do this regularly. Make it part of your daily routine. The more you are able to be in the moment, the easier it will be to stay there for longer periods of time.

Remember everything is energy, including our thoughts, beliefs, emotions, and our essence of who we are.

Work on your personal and spiritual growth, these are things that will raise your frequency and vibration.

As we raise our energetic vibration, we come in more alignment with ourselves. We attract situations that are a higher energetic resonance, because we become an energetic match to those situations.

The solution is very simple, yet us humans seem to complicate things more than is needed. It is about BEing more than DOing.

2. Take back your power.

This is where boundaries are essential.

Make the correct decisions for you, not on what society, your parents, spouse, siblings, employers, or anyone else thinks is the right thing for you.

I am sure we all have our moments where we did something that someone else projected what was right for you on to you and you lived to regret that decision. I know I have.

Make choices based on what you are feeling and sensing, even though it may not be popular with others.

Through the ages, the paradigm of control and manipulation has been the norm to herd the masses. Thankfully, this is crumbling, and many are waking up and stepping into their personal power to regain control in their lives.

3. Trust yourself and your feelings.

Us humans are wired to sense and feel, it is our natural birth right. Yet, we have been born into a world where the opposite is true.

We are told not experience our emotions or feel, or are judged, criticized, or even abused for doing so.

We have been led to believe that this abuse of power, control, and manipulation is normal. It really is not normal at all.

This takes us away from our sovereignty.

Out of fear, some have given their power away to this, something on the outside of themselves, instead of taking their lead from their inner knowingness and wisdom.

Feel your feelings. These are energetic experiences that allow you to go deeper within yourself. You may even grow and heal as you explore these precious gifts.

Trust yourself. It is your intuition, your sovereignty reminding you of who you are. This is your inner wisdom guiding you from within. It does not exist outside of yourself, leading you to where you need to go.

It takes courage and being brave to trust yourself and unshakeable confidence, which you will step into as you continue to follow the above steps.

These are the secret sauce to reconnecting and keeping you in a sovereign space of yourself.

Are You Looking for a New Passion? Try Any of These 6 Types of Hobbies!

Sometimes what you need most is to shake up the system.

You’re comfortable in your job, your relationship, etc. and nothing is really exciting you anymore. Well, that’s when you need a new hobby.

If that sounds like you, take a look at our top ideas for hobbies you can try.

6 Types of Hobbies You Should Try:

try-6-types-of-hobbies

1. For the sports fan.

If you’re someone who likes to keep active, but you’ve found your mind straying while on the treadmill, perhaps wondering when you can get out of the gym, you might need something new to stimulate you.

There are the team sports out there, that will have you making new friends (and friendly rivals), like football, basketball, volleyball, tennis and more, but there are also solo options that just get you and yourself in touch with maybe nature but also yourself.

If that sounds preferable you can try trampolining, rock climbing, and golf.

If you were a mermaid in another life, you can look into scuba diving or cold water swimming, for a shock to the system that actually has a lot of benefits for the body.

2. For the music fan.

If you’re a big music fan, you can look into DJing, or even producing. It takes some tech, but it is worth it when you are making music you can say is yours.

Every night turns into a party when you have your own decks. The same way people get lost practicing their instruments, you can practice your scratching and relax with your instrument.

You can find the right DJ equipment here, and even take it out into the world if you like. There are plenty of events like parties and weddings that are looking for someone who can offer some fun remixes.

3. For the crafty fan.

If you’re a tinkerer, dabbling in the occasional crafty hobby, no doubt you’ll be looking to try something new.

It seems to be the connecting tissue of every crafty person to try something once and then want to try something new immediately.

Well, we have lots of ideas.

Look into pottery, needle work, or rug making, for something that you can display in your home.

Try a sewing class and start making your own clothes. Or even a cooking class for another practical application at home.

You can look into photography, to get your memories looking professional or learn how to spruce up your furniture so that you don’t spend all your savings on a revamp.

4. For the dancing fan.

If you love music, but you’re more about the need to making moves on the dancefloor, you might want to look into some dance classes.

There are loads to choose from, each giving you something a little different. Tango is all about passion, street dancing all about attitude, burlesque and pole about seduction. Each of them will give you a massive confidence boost the more you get involved.

Everyone can dance. We’re not about to say that The Chicken Dance isn’t epic, but there’s something self assuring about nailing the steps and feeling your confidence grow with every tap.

5. For the mindful fan.

Sometimes the best thing for the mind is to refocus.

You can help this along by creating a vision board. Find materials for your board and assign them to your goals. They can be motivational quotes, the deposit for a house or other event, or photos and doodles of what you want out of life.

Rip vacation ideas out of travel magazines, career goals out of specialist magazines, etc. Or draw anything you can’t find an image for in the tabloids.

You might want to look into meditation too. It can significantly improve anxiety and sleep and is a good way to stay calm if you need it. And the best part is that it’s free!

You can find audio guides on YouTube and a whole host of other apps, and once you get the hang of it you can do it without a guide.

And then there’s journaling. You can get every valid thought of yours down, making either for a simple place to get everything out, or a moment in time recorded for the future.

6. For the book fan.

Along the same lines, you can take those writing skills from the diary and the factual (subjective factual, but still factual) and apply them to the fictional.

Platforms like Wattpad are taking off for a reason. We’re not saying you have to open your work out to the public, but you can stretch your writing hand across a Word document and see what comes out.

A good way to start is with NaNoWriMo, which means National Novel Writing Month.

It typically takes place in November, but who’s going to stop you if you start now? The goal is 50,000 words until the month is up.

No editing, no worrying about structure. That’s a problem for next month. Instead, just write and see where you end up.
