6 Tips for Nurses On How to Maintain a Healthy Work Life Balance

Nursing remains one of the most challenging jobs in the healthcare industry.

The need for nurses is expected to rise by 9% through 2030.

And while the stats predict nursing to stay a secure profession in the future, it does not eradicate the fact that it is physically and emotionally draining to be a part of this profession.

Nurses are filled with compassion and seek contentment in helping others. Unfortunately, all of this comes at the cost of their physical and emotional well being.

Long working hours and high risk emergencies are typical in this profession.

Hence, there is a high chance of struggling with striking the right work life balance.

In addition, it might affect their relationships, leading to complaints from family and friends.

So, it is high time that nurses try to achieve a work life balance for their professional and personal development.

We understand that it might be tricky to do this. So we have prepared a list of ways to help you get by.

6 Tips How to Maintain a Healthy Work Life Balance:

tips-for-nurses-how-to-maintain-a-healthy-work-life-balance

1. Make time for yourself.

Work and family are not the only ones who need your time.

There should be times in the week designated only for yourself.

Watch a movie or read a book in the name of self care.

A day alone at the spa will also not hurt you. It is going to give you the strength to face the following days.

You do not have to do anything extravagant for your “me time.”

Do whatever brings you happiness, be it a hobby you have been unable to pursue.

Technological advancements make it easier than ever to have more time for yourself.

Even the nurses who wish to advance their career can enroll in online BSN to DNP programs instead of managing on campus classes, work, and home.

It will help you save time usually wasted in commuting to college.

So, while you make adjustments in your life and try to balance everything, opt for things that make it easier for you to achieve the work life balance.

2. Acceptance is key.

It is human nature to avoid admitting things we find unfavorable.

These can also be the fact that your personal and social life is being affected by your job.

Change begins by identifying and accepting the need for action.

Acknowledge that there are stimuli in your environment that trigger stress.

It is impossible to block all of these.

However, some are in your control.

Acceptance will help you target those and work towards betterment.

3. Understand what people expect from you.

Sometimes we get burnt out by working more than we are supposed to.

This is because we assume that making an extra effort will reap better results.

However, the immediate gain is not worth the long-term harm that this does.

Sit with your loved ones and communicate the expectations they have from you and vice versa.

Doing this will give you a clearer idea of your responsibilities towards them.

Do the same with your employer.

Ensure that you are aware of the obligations your job entails.

Let your higher authority know that going beyond the set expectation would not serve you well.

Communication is key to the success of this tip.

4. Fill your plate proportionally.

It is usually in your hands to commit or not to a work or personal obligation.

Ensure that you only take up tasks and responsibilities that you can handle.

Guggling with too much work simultaneously can ruin your work life balance.

Add things to your schedule proportionately.

Feel free to say no to any invitations or requests if you can not manage them simultaneously.

Doing this does not mean you are not serious about your work or relationships.

It only indicates that you care about them enough to ensure quality in whichever responsibilities you have.

5. Prioritize your health.

You will only be able to fulfill all obligations when you feel well. Unfortunately, it is easy for us to forget to take care of ourselves on the go.

Hence, plan how you wish to manage your physical and mental health.

Nurses usually get small breaks in between shifts. Unfortunately, they also reach home too tired to cook a meal themselves.

This results in either ordering takeout or nibbling on leftovers they do not want.

The best way to solve this issue is meal prepping.

Meal prepping is a relatively new concept where people cook their meals for the entire week altogether.

They choose a single day to go grocery shopping and cook all the meals.

These get stored in airtight containers and go into the fridge.

They have to heat them and eat them according to the planned menu.

Doing this allows nurses to quickly pack a healthy lunch in their work bags and eat during shifts.

Moreover, the next time they come home tired, they will not have to cook a whole meal. It will already be prepared.

Exercising is another way to keep your physical and mental well being in check.

Nurses must make time to do stamina-building workouts.

Joining a 2 hour gym class is not necessary for this.

A quick 15 minute workout in the morning is enough.

Moreover, yoga can be great for regulating your emotions.

Put on a short meaningful podcast and do yoga to ground yourself.

It will freshen your mood and ease your stress.

And finally do not forget to have 8 hours of quality sleep per night. This is super important for your overall health.

6. Do not mix both worlds.

Many professionals, including nurses, make the mistake of mixing work with personal life and vice versa.

One should ensure they create boundaries at work and home.

Others should know when they will be available.

Ensure that you communicate to your colleagues of times you are free to talk about work.

Do not attend unimportant work calls during family meals.

Remember that even eating dinner together can be impactful.

You can talk about work at the table. However, do not let it be the only topic of conversation.

What you should remember?

It is safe to say that striking the right work life balance is one of the trickiest aspects of adulthood.

Nurses have it much worse than other occupations because of the uncertainty of emergencies in this field.

However, begin by taking baby steps towards setting boundaries and prioritizing yourself.

Remember that, as a nurse, you can only offer help if you are in the right mindset.

Find Life Coach | Meet Mely Nieves: How to Believe that Anything is Possible?

Mely Nieves is one of the coaches that we found this month and we did a little interview with her. She impressed us with her strength of character and dedication.

Her coaching is all about helping you find faith that anything is possible.

She is always learning and improving her skillset to be able to better help her clients.

She has been overcoming obstacles successfully since her very childhood. She was born without hands, and yet, she reached more goals than majority of people. Here is what she said.

Meet Life Coach Mely Nieves:

find-life-coach-mely-nieves

Name: Mely Nieves

Pillar: The Spirit, The Heart

Who is this coach for: Anyone who wants to be inspired to believe that they can do anything they want in life.

How they can help: By using a customized coaching according to each client’s needs.

First of all, how are you and your family doing in these Pandemic times?

I am in good health, but my family was one of those affected by the virus and they are barely recovering from the consequences of this disease.

How does the coronavirus pandemic affect your clients? Did it affect you at all?

The only thing that I perceived that there was some affectation was that at the beginning of the pandemic.

Many people in Latin America did not have a computer or cell phone, they didn’t even have an internet connection, so it was difficult to provide coaching digitally.

Nowadays, society has already made a great effort to adapt to the digital modality and they have realized that there are many benefits, from saving time and money, as well as being able to be anywhere to receive quality care.

What are the biggest lessons that you learned in this pandemic?

Lesson number one was that I had to learn about digital marketing to capture people and above all what they were convinced of taking online coaching.

The second lesson was that I had to quickly learn how to use video conferencing platforms at an expert level so that there would be no hiccups during the process.

The Origin:

Tell us about you, your career, how you started with your coaching career?

I have always been a person who likes to help and inspire others, that’s why at the age of 19 I started giving motivational talks to children and young people in schools and vulnerable groups.

But I knew that I needed to give something more to have a positive impact on society, so I discovered online coaching.

And then I started the master’s degree in organizational coaching because it made me a very nice career, since it guided in a more methodical and precise way.

But at the same time, I realized that every person has a story in which we as coaches have to adapt to support them effectively, providing a service with a humanistic and transformative sense.

What was your biggest obstacle that you had to overcome in your life that made you who you are today?

My biggest obstacle was the physical disability (I have no arms).

That as such for me and my family has been a great challenge.

In the educational sphere, my dear mother was the one who raised the awareness of the rulers, teachers and the entire student community so that they would accept me in a public school for ordinary children.

While in the workplace it has been complicated because there is still no real inclusion for people with disabilities to be inserted in government institutions or the private sector, causing most of us to have to work independently.

Since socially speaking, creating a culture of inclusion has been difficult but not impossible.

But thank God, I have achieved many things… from studying, practicing different sports, being with political personalities, traveling, etc.

And in the workplace, it has been a great satisfaction for me, because thanks to my effort and tenacity I continue to help and motivate people of all ages.

The Coaching Style:

How do you innovate with coaching your clients?

In constant learning, so I enter courses, certifications, diplomas, etc.

And in this way, I have the exact tools for each specific situation.

In addition, I understood that we must have some knowledge about different professional fields to carry out coaching effectively.

Making customers feel satisfied with the process because their expectations are met.

What’s unique about your coaching approach?

The only special thing that the clients themselves have mentioned to me is that just by seeing me they are motivated to want to improve something in their lives.

Generating a sensitive, empathetic coaching process and, above all, a space for much reflection and awareness.

What benefits do your clients get after working with you?

The greatest benefit is that they leave with a different perspective on life and with the certainty that they can do anything they set out to do, that it is only a matter of putting their talent and intelligence to the maximum.

In addition, to always keep an open mind towards others.

Do you use any specific tools to be efficient with your clients?

No, I think that each process has its magic.

So, I focus on the client’s needs, obviously following the ethics of coaching.

The Impact:

If you had a super megaphone that, when you speak into, the whole world will hear your message, what would you say?

I always use my motto as an example of Love, Respect, Enjoy:

LOVE what you do, because when you work with passion everything flows in a positive way, but obviously to achieve success we must dedicate time and effort.

RESPECT every living being that is on earth, by this I mean that we put moral values into practice, since this will make it easier to have greater opportunities in different areas.

ENJOY every minute of your story, because each one of us is unique and therefore we have the right to be happy in our own way.

What is the greatest lesson you have learned in your life?

My greatest lesson in life is that everything is possible, as long as we are people with humility, sincerity, enthusiasm and a vocation.

With these qualities, we meet successful men and women who seek to bring about a change in their social environment.

Your final thoughts?

That life is beautiful and make the most of it.

When you work with enthusiasm and discipline, it always pays off. Never give up.

10 Ways How to Stay Fit and Healthy this Winter

As the winter approaches, everyone works on making prompt adjustments to get settled into the new season.

You might dislike the harsh climate or love the snow and the merriments the season brings.

But one common thing is the desire to stay healthy and not let yourself go during these lazy months

10 Ways to Stay Healthy this Winter:

how-to-stay-fit-and-healthy-this-winter

The cold weather gives you an excuse to stay indoors, wrap yourself up in a fleece throw, sit by the fireplace, and enjoy the freshly baked batch of warm cookies with a cup of coffee.

This presents a wonderful picture, and you will likely succumb to its lure too.

While enjoying a cozy night is fine, you must ensure your health gets the attention it needs.

Here are ten tips you can incorporate into your daily winter routine to stay fit and healthy.

1. Don’t turn to addictive beverages.

Winter brings shorter days, less activity, and a decrease in sun exposure, which impacts your motivation and mood.

Moreover, you find yourself turning to beverages like alcohol to spend your cold nights comfortably.

However, several studies over the years have shown alcohol may seem like an ideal winter beverage because it makes you feel warm, but it actually lowers your core body temperature, irrespective of the outside weather, and makes you more susceptible to hypothermia.

In addition, it affects your productivity and often becomes the cause of addiction.

To avoid spiraling downward this winter, do not depend too much on alcohol.

If you need a detox, you can visit a rehab center for the service.

Our team member had a problem last winter and decided to do go to a rehab center.

He says it helped him tremendously to improve his mindset and mood. He highly suggests getting help if you feel like you need it.

If you need help like him, you can visit www.delphihealthgroup.com for more information and to improve your mindset over time rather than merely providing a temporary fix.

2. Maintain a healthy diet.

A healthy diet is, without a doubt, the most important way to stay fit and well throughout the winter season.

Try to maintain your nutrition levels and keep up with your body’s needs.

Make fruits and vegetables an essential part of your daily diet.

Head over to the local farmer’s market to obtain fresh seasonal produce.

At the same time, try to get an appropriate amount of carbohydrates, proteins, and fats in your body to give you the energy you need to stay active.

A healthy mind and a healthy body mean a secure immune system, which will ensure your protection against viruses that an unhealthy body is more likely to contract.

As an addition, learn about the best herbs that will help you maintain your health in winter.

3. Stay active.

Besides eating well, staying active is paramount to maintaining healthy body weight.

A chilly winter reduces productivity and motivation significantly, making returning to an active lifestyle challenging if not addressed promptly.

A study published by the New England Journal of Medicine (NEJM) examined the phenomenon of winter weight gain, and the results showed an average net gain of 2.22 kg.

Working up a sweat every now and then will give you the energy boost you need to get through the day.

So, put on your jacket and go for an early morning jog.

If the weather is too cold outside, you can also visit the gym that has a heater.

4. Ensure that you receive enough vitamin D.

Most people struggle with receiving adequate sun exposure in the winter.

This lack of sunlight corresponds directly to the Vitamin D levels in the body.

Keep your vitamin D levels in check by spending at least one hour outdoors on clear sunny days.

On rainy days when that is not an option, try to include other sources of Vit D in your diet.

These include fatty fish like tuna, salmon, sardines, and mackerel.

Other dietary sources rich in Vit D are egg yolks, cheese, and beef liver.

It is also possible to find products with artificially added nutrients, such as orange juice, dairy, and plant milk enriched with vitamin D.

5. Maintain good hygiene.

In a season when germs spread easily and the immune system usually already has its guard down, it is necessary to maintain good personal hygiene.

Wash your hands regularly and thoroughly.

When you are out for the day and lack access to a washroom, carry a sanitizer with you.

Ensure that it is certified by your national or local health board to confirm that it is by WHO guidelines.

6. Talk to your doctor.

You can take all necessary care of your hygiene, consume a well rounded diet, and cover all bases at your end, but sometimes a tough bacterium or virus still makes its way past your protective barrier.

And winter colds are not something to take lightly either.

It is worth visiting your doctor to check your health even if you feel healthy to avoid ending up in such a situation where catch a cold because of lack of nutrients or vitamins.

7. Do not hesitate to layer up.

With the temperatures dropping by multitudes, do not be shy to layer up in warm sweaters and jackets.

Dress smartly and avoid wearing short dresses to the New Year’s Eve party.

Instead, opt for something cozier.

A moment of not being properly covered up in the freezing temperature may cause you to suffer for weeks with a cold.

So ensure to include woolen and other thermo regulating materials in your winter wardrobe.

8. Consume warm fluids.

A healthy body temperature ensures the immune system’s vitality and maximum function.

A cup of tea, a cup of coffee, and a bowl of soup are exactly what you need.

The caffeine in tea and coffee will also help you wake up on a gloomy winter morning.

9. Moisturize your skin.

The chilly winter months can be unforgiving to the skin.

Effects can range from dry and chapped lips to itchy and hyper pigmented skin.

To stay healthy through the winter, you should invest in a good moisturizer.

Purchase a lip balm that hydrates your lips to prevent them from drying out.

10. Get adequate sleep.

The National Sleep Foundation recommends 7 to 9 hours of sleep every night for a healthy adult.

Fortunately, this practice is easier in the winter than in the rest of the year.

Set a fixed time for yourself to get used to, to snuggle up in your blanket, and drift into a peaceful sleep.

It gets easier once you are used to the routine.

But be careful not to give in when the warmth of your bed is too difficult to part with the next morning.

What you should remember?

Winter does not treat everyone equally.

Some have the resources to cope with the harsh conditions, while others are left at the universe’s mercy.

So try to include the simple tips discussed here in your routine.

Making small yet effective changes can help you enjoy any season.

How they can help: Through various tools and techniques, coaching around values and using her THRIVE model.

First of all, how are you and your family doing in these Pandemic times?

We are doing fine.

The Pandemic is nearly over.

I work at home and have had an online business since 2005!

I’ve been coaching via Zoom before the Pandemic and my clients come from all over the US and the world.

How does the coronavirus pandemic affect your clients? Did it affect you at all?

Yes, they were home all alone. They were not spending money on travel.

2020 and 2021 were my best years in business.

People came to my Zoom sessions and my Zoom online classes.

I created a community for them.

What are the biggest lessons that you learned in this pandemic?

Value the people you have in your life and keep the lines of communication open.

Show appreciation for others and their support in your life.

Keep up your health, and take risks.

About your business, keep focusing on what you are good at and what works.

And establish great working relationships, make sure you give as well as receive.

The Origin:

Tell us about you, your career, how you started with your coaching career?

I started in 2005 as a certified professional life coach that specializes in marriage minded singles who are looking for their true love or spouses.

I was divorced in my mid to late 30’s and was struggling to find my life partner.

Someone who wanted marriage and a family like I did.

I hired a coach at 40. He was instrumental in helping me realize that my husband was the one.

I had been dating and not meeting men who wanted a committed relationship and marriage.

I now help seriously searching singles to find true love!

I have been doing this for 17 years and have hundreds of successfully coupled clients.

What was your biggest obstacle that you had to overcome in your life that made you who you are today?

My divorce in my mid 30’s. (I was married at 25 with the fairytale wedding)

I had to reinvent myself.

And I had to work on myself to learn what I wanted in life and who was a good partner for me.

I gained clarity so I could choose better this time.

I’ve been married to my second husband for 20 years.

The Coaching Style:

How do you innovate with coaching your clients?

I created the Motivated to Marry Dating Secrets coaching program.

It’s my proven step by step process for helping my clients move from hopeless to hopeful!

This is a goals and values based process that works!

I teach it to my private clients, in my Meet your Mate This Year group (12 men and women over a 4 month period) or as a home study program that has bi monthly support questions and answers community sessions.

What’s unique about your coaching approach?

I go deeper with values than most coaches.

I help my clients understand that they connect with people based on their values and how to utilize them to determine the right life partner.

I have been teaching how to go deeper with your values to my coaching colleagues.

What benefits do your clients get after working with you?

My clients get a greater sense of themselves and gain confidence in themselves.

They know who is a good fit and who is not.

They become more resilient with dating and if it doesn’t work out, they know why.

They can move on quickly.

And many of my clients do meet that special person!

They get to live the life of their dreams, have families, become part of a family and travel with that special person.

I’m also an online dating expert and 80% of my successfully coupled clients have met through an online dating site.

They get my expertise to help them have greater success with online dating.

Do you use any specific tools to be efficient with your clients?

I have many tools in my coaching toolbox.

I have over 200 hours of coaching training as an ICF certified professional coach.

My favorite coaching is around values and my THRIVE model that I created that helps my clients feel more confident about what they bring to a relationship and why they are lovable.

The Impact:

If you had a super megaphone that, when you speak into, the whole world will hear your message, what would you say?

Life is too short to waste it with someone who doesn’t appreciate you, support you and respect you.

Learn to respect yourself and hold yourself to a higher standard.

Be mindful of who you hang out with and who you spend your time with.

What is the greatest lesson you have learned in your life?

To honor your values and make sure those around you do honor your values.

Sometimes you can do something about it and sometimes you can’t.

You can choose your life partner, your friends and your work environment.

Some people you can’t choose.

You do need to decide how to be with these people and how to set boundaries around them.

Your final thoughts?

I’m fairly unique in the coaching world given my training and experience.

At my last ICF coaching conference, I was the only relationship coach.

There are plenty of divorce coaches, and many coaches don’t specialize in dating for marriage.

My niche has many people calling themselves “coach” with no training.

It’s scary. It’s like going to a doctor without a medical license. People need to know that there is a difference.

4 Ways How Writing Essays in College Can Help You Develop Better Thinking Skills

0

A clear and logical mindset is one of the most valuable things to have.

It doesn’t matter if you major in mathematical science or art design.

Good thinkers are better decision makers and are quicker on their feet.

There’s no time like college to hone one’s thinking abilities.

Students can develop their thinking skills through plenty of writing exercises.

Such assignments deal with evaluating and processing vast amounts of information.

These things may come naturally to some students and others can enjoy a little more practice to polish their skillset.

With that said, not everybody has the time to tackle every assignment themselves.

If that happens, they can hire an editor to help out with daily essay assignments.

Meanwhile, you can look for different ways of developing other skills.

If you do have the time, there are several thinking skills to learn from writing essays.

4 Ways How Writing Essays Helps Develop Better Thinking Skills:

how-writing-essays-help-you-develop-better-thinking-skills

1. Researching Data.

Preparation is a big part of any essay assignment.

Students comb through various sources to find the right arguments and evidence.

During this stage, they decide which information to include and which to avoid.

It’s their job to see if the data is credible to be included in the paper.

The process requires a cold analytical and critical approach to the data.

It goes beyond the assessment of discovered facts.

While conducting research, students can come across professional opinions on a related topic.

It’s their job to look into the reputation and credentials of people they want to cite or rely on.

With practice, they will also become better at differentiating between facts and opinions.

In time this will make it easier for students to develop their own arguments.

Students will find it easier to decide where they stand on issues and provide their opinions about them.

Argumentative essays can include views from different parties.

Being able to see different sides of an issue and comprehending them is a valuable skill outside of essay writing.

It helps make better business, consumer, and personal decisions.

This is a key component of any critical thinking skills.

After completing the research, students can set up the groundwork for the future essay.

2. Planning The Outline.

Before starting an essay, a student needs a blueprint.

It must always be built around the main topic.

The outline has to contain the main things they want to explore as part of the assignment, if the issue is climate change, each part of the body can focus on different factors that influence it.

Outline items need to be the length of a single sentence.

Each part on the list should encompass the main idea of an essay part.

Students often have trouble when coming up with ideas for outline items.

When this happens, they can ask for help from peers.

A good brainstorming session can unlock their creative potential and get the ideas flowing.

It’s excellent practice when facing writer’s block.

This exercise also tests the planning skills of a student.

Working on an outline is also great practice for dividing complex ideas into smaller chunks.

Aside from giving an essay plan, the blueprint should allude to the content that will catch a reader’s attention.

Remember that it shouldn’t be a dry amalgamation of facts and citations but a story to follow.

With the right plan, students can tackle even the most challenging essays with no problem.

Once there’s an essay outline in place, students can start working on the body structure.

3. Working On The Structure.

When working on an essay, students learn several great thinking skills.

They train to describe their thoughts straightforwardly and coherently.

Even if nothing comes to mind, they can stimulate the process by writing every idea they have.

It also allows exercising logical thinking in such areas as:

The structure of the paper (headline, introduction, body, and conclusion).

The logical consistency of the main argument and the body paragraphs exploring it.

The conclusions one can come to after reading the paper.

Of course, the first draft may not have the exact flow you were aiming for, but it will give a better idea of what the final result should look like.

Students can use the same logical approach when facing other problems, no matter their complexity.

This will benefit them wherever their careers lead.

Working on an assignment may also unlock their creative thinking.

They can find new ways of making an essay more interesting.

Depending on the discipline, they may opt to make it in a video format.

Art and film school students will enjoy this medium the most.

They may also find that using graphs, charts, and other imagery can spruce up the text.

When working on big essays, they can present big volumes of data in the form of charts.

Also, writing itself is a great skill to have in today’s day and age.

4. Polishing The Paper.

After finishing the first draft comes the arduous process of bringing the work together.

This requires a keen eye for detail and a lot of patience.

It tests your memory, analytical, logical, and creative abilities.

These thinking skills must work together to provide the best results.

One has to check all facets of the paper thoroughly.

Sometimes, students misinterpret the topic and take the paper in a completely different direction.

Another thing to consider is the narrative flow and how well the information is presented.

Needless to say, you have to read and understand the paper completely.

It should be done from the point of view of a person unfamiliar with the topic.

Every sentence and phrasing should be in its place.

There are times when students have to discard the first drafts and start anew.

Of course, there has to be no room for writing or grammatical mistakes.

While this may be tiresome, they will be rewarded in the end.

What you should remember?

Working on essays requires a lot of work and preparation.

In exchange, students become better at organizing their thoughts.

Their minds become more apparent, more logical, and more structured.

These skills will serve them long after graduation.

6 Ways How to Reach the Flow State While Writing Creative Essays

0

Reaching the art of zen in writing is an aspiration for many writers.

That’s because it means they’ve attained the pinnacle, where their writing muse provides constant inspiration and their creative juices keep flowing.

The creative flow is critical for any writer because cranking up a winning piece is impossible with writer’s block.

Thus, an author tapping into the flow state or entering the zen zone while writing greatly matters.

This is especially true for creative writers who rely on facts and imagination.

In psychology, reaching the flow state means an individual is fully immersed and focused in the moment, resulting in pure enjoyment and better outcomes.

From amateur students doing requirements to pros doing this as a career, writers need to achieve this kind of mad genius to be genuinely prolific with good outputs. Here’s how to reach the flow state when writing creative essays.

6 Ways How to Reach the Flow State While Writing:

how-to-reach-the-flow-state-while-writing

1. Pinpoint the Most Productive Time of Day.

When people are in their most productive zone and hit a creative mojo, they churn out work at warp speed.

They optimize time and their talents to produce quality results.

They can use an essay editor service to polish their drafts during downtimes.

It’s a sure way to have a flawless piece.

Individuals work with different circadian cycles.

Some have a late night chronotype, meaning they hit a creative peak at night when everything is dark and quiet.

Meanwhile, some early birds achieve full creativity when fresh out of bed.

There are also mid day blue jays who get a surge in the middle of the day.

There’s no right or wrong in body rhythm, and writers must do what works best for their unique psyche.

Some people have distractions at home, pending work deadlines, prior evening commitments, etc.

Thus, creative writers need to identify the hours when they can be the most productive.

2. Stick to the Most Optimal Schedule.

When writers figure out the time when they can be most prolific, they must protect it at all costs.

Block that sacred time in the calendar and give ample time to complete any work.

Most writers can’t just snap their fingers and enter the zone.

At times, they need to ease into it with brainstorming.

At this point, it would help to eliminate all types of distractions.

Setting creative boundaries is essential to make progress with the flow.

Take note of the following suggestions:

Mute notifications for emails and social media.

Turn off the phone to avoid calls and other messages.

Resist temptation like watching TV, browsing social media, or going to streaming sites.

Inform critical people about being unreachable at certain times.

3. Set Self Up for Success with Mini Goals.

Whether someone has a work deadline or an essay for school, it’s important to set mini goals.

Tackling a writing assignment in one sitting is a very daunting task that would freak out even professional writers.

It is possible to get something done in an hour, especially when there’s a deadline looming on the horizon.

However, this kind of pressure will kill the flow.

Thus, individuals should write down small goals since baby steps are not as overwhelming as one giant leap.

Moreover, people are less likely to fail when they set incremental objectives instead of one primary target.

There’s less energy and stress with mini goals.

Examples of these are:

Researching the topic.

Brainstorming a catchy hook.

Making an outline.

Choosing the best headlines.

Proofreading and editing.

4. Always Seek Out Creative Inspiration.

Those who experience writer’s block often feel frustrated because it dampens the writing process and kills their output.

Those who are desperate for inspiration need to do something different.

Getting out of one’s comfort zone may help untangle the block and restore the creative flow.

Check out these helpful suggestions for finding a burst of inspiration:

Switching locations, like going to a coffee shop.

Taking a break and spending the day in an amusement park.

Listening to a podcast.

Going out into the great outdoors and soaking up the sun.

Reading an inspiring book.

There are many ways to get back into an active flow state.

Sometimes, the strangest places can provide that much needed zing and inspiration.

Besides, doing something different offers a fresh perspective and offers new insight.

5. Make a Creative Space for Optimal Performance.

Although writing is a personal endeavor that stems from the mind and emotions, a person’s physical space can influence their output.

For example, someone in a cluttered environment with lots of distractions may find it hard to feel a burst of creative inspiration.

That’s why writers must carefully curate their creative container like a home office.

Here are some tips for that:

Use aromatherapy diffusers with lavender oils that calm the mind.

Have tea or water on hand to stay hydrated.

Turn off all gadget notifications to prevent distractions.

Put in calming music to get into the flow.

Those who use co working spaces, the library, or even a coffee shop can set up their creative container.

There’s such a thing as noise canceling headsets to drown out the noise.

Alternatively, they can also play their favorite Spotify playlist for inspiration.

Instead of a diffuser, they can rub the oil directly onto their temples to forge that calm feeling.

6. Remember That Practice Makes Perfect.

Finally, writing is like a muscle that needs flexing for continuous improvement.

The more people write, the easier it will become because the brain, eyes, and fingers get used to all the motions.

Repetition has benefits because there’s truth to the timeless adage that practice makes perfect.

For the best outcomes, aspiring authors must write fun stuff instead of focusing on work or school related deadlines.

Writing should be fun so that individuals don’t feel pressured and overwhelmed.

Those who want to get into the zone need to incorporate things they feel passionate about.

Most of all, consistent practice is the best remedy for combating writer’s block.

As much as possible, writers must avoid writing at the 11th hour because there’s nothing like an immediate deadline that kills productivity.

Procrastination kills creativity, so doing work early and consistently practicing is what individuals need to keep their focus and ensure their writer flow is always on and seamlessly flowing.

Some find it difficult to do writing assignments because expressing their opinion on a particular subject may not be as easy as some think.

For some, sticking with simple answers that you can find in the book is easier.

But, even students that enjoy writing essays find the process tedious at times.

There are several reasons behind it: Fear of failure, search for compelling arguments, and editing issues.

You may have doubts that your essay will not be as successful as you expect it to be.

But nobody’s perfect.

After all, you show your knowledge of the subject and the ways you express your opinion on it.

It’s a test drive of your writing and critical thinking capabilities.

Don’t be afraid to make mistakes, it will help you improve.

When you’re looking for compelling arguments, reputable source materials will help you.

Yes, there’s a chance that you will not find everything online.

Instead, you may have to visit the library and check the books on the subject.

Formatting and editing are a bane for most essay writing aficionados.

Nobody likes having lower grades because of editing issues.

However, if you’re struggling on your own, you can also order help from a professional essay editing service so that you will submit a perfectly edited paper.

Time management is another common issue with paper writing.

Especially when you’re trying to write your essay in one take.

You’re telling yourself that it will take you less than one hour, but five hours later, your paper is still not finished.

Gladly, some tips can help you speed up your essay writing process.

1. Make Sure You Understand the Subject.

So, you were either assigned the topic or chose it yourself. And you think that you are prepared for it.

Even if you don’t, you will figure things out while writing it.

But, the deeper you dig into the subject, the clearer it gets that your essay won’t go the way you originally envisioned.

It’s the best case scenario.

The worst case one, you completely misunderstood the subject.

It’s always better to get prepared beforehand.

As soon as you are assigned the topic, try finding everything you can on the subject.

In case you find that you misunderstood the task, you have enough time to seek advice from your professor.

Otherwise, the process of essay writing will get stressful.

And you may end up with a delayed submission that can affect your grades.

2. Prioritize Your Tasks.

Do you need to take your dog to the vet? Finish some home chores? There are important things you need to take care of?

Then finish them before you sit down to write your essay.

Otherwise, the process will be extremely stressful, and you will write in a rush, which will affect the overall quality of your essay.

However, avoid getting caught up in the tasks and procrastinating writing.

fine balance between the two can help you write your essay faster.

3. Ditch the Ink and Paper (But Not Completely).

Do you use a pen and a piece of paper to draft your essay?

Well, that’s great, but it slows down the process greatly.

Drafting your paper is important, but you don’t need traditional methods from the past century for that.

You can type your draft as well.

And changing things in your Word or Google Docs file is easier, than retyping everything that you have written.

But you don’t have to ditch ink and paper completely.

It’s always better to outline your essay before you start writing it.

Here is where pen and paper come in handy.

Sometimes it’s much easier when you have an outline in front of you while writing.

So, if you’re so attached to pen and paper, use it for the outline and notes that you will need for your essay.

4. Mind Your Attitude.

Some can start writing from scratch as soon as they sit down to work, while others spend hours waiting for the muse to come.

In case you fall in the latter category, you should consider your mindset before you start writing an essay.

If you think of the process of writing your paper as tedious, it will turn out to be that way.

But changing your attitude may really help.

Stop thinking of working on an essay as some monster that will drain all your power. Instead, try thinking about it positively.

Basically, set your mind to achieving more in a shorter time frame.

Yes, it may seem peculiar, but suddenly, you will find yourself completing your essay, or the first draft of it, sooner than you expected.

Mindset has a strong impact on the results.

5. Get Rid of Distractions.

Okay, you want to make the process less dull.

So, you’re going to put some music in the background, or some movie, or even a podcast.

But then you find yourself singing along to your favorite songs or focusing on a film, despite watching it for the unnumbered time.

And the podcast’s subject is far more interesting than the one in your essay.

So, it won’t be a big problem if you finish listening to it and then return to the writing process.

You’ll finish it while listening to the next episode, right?

If you want to speed up your process, you must eliminate all possible distractions.

Of course, it’s not impossible to work while listening to music or podcasts or while watching movies.

But if you experience anything from those mentioned above, it’s better to work on your essay without distractions.

This way, you will be able to finish your essay in an hour or two and get back to other activities.

What you should remember?

So, here are the main tips on how to speed up your essay writing process.

Get prepared beforehand.

Prioritize your tasks so you don’t get too stressed while working on your paper.

Don’t waste your time on a handwritten draft, have a more positive attitude toward the process.

The tips may be useful, however, you can get all that figured out yourself if you learn from your experience.

For example, only you know which way it is comfortable for you to write.

So, think about what prevented you from getting your essay done faster the last time you were tasked with it.

Finding the answer will help you finish your next one faster.

8 Tips How to Prevent Nurse Burnout

0

Nursing is one of the noble yet challenging professions.

It requires commitment, a great sense of tolerance, and humanity.

Nurses work relentlessly to provide the highest level of ethical, safe, and quality care to the injured, disabled, sick and dying.

From long hour shifts and workloads to enduring workplace bullying and risk of exposure to infection, nurses have always experienced complex challenges.

Besides the physical strain of the nursing profession, emotional difficulty can also lead to stress and burnout.

Burnout is a physical, mental, and emotional exhaustion due to stressors like long shifts, the pressure of caring for individuals who may not have positive outcomes, the strain of quick decision making, and a lack of appreciation.

As nurses experience these factors, they may start feeling detached and disengaged, the first symptom of nurse burnout.

Research suggests that burnout reduces nurses’ overall quality of life, their ability to work well, and their commitment to the institutions, which ultimately impacts patient outcomes.

Avoiding addressing burnout with good self care can lead to feelings of hopelessness, anxiety, and even depression.

If you are a nurse or intend to pursue a career as a nurse practitioner, it is essential to be mindful of your mental health.

Here are a few tips to prevent burnout while working as a nurse.

8 Tips How to Prevent Burnout:

1. Switch to online options to work towards a professional goal.

Registered nurses may want to advance their education and step up their position in their careers, but the thoughts of workload often prevent them from doing so.

Getting registered in online MSN programs can help nurses level up in their profession without worrying about their work life.

Opting for the online options will not only help you to gain clinical skills and knowledge but allow you to prevent the burnout that most nurse practitioners face.

It can be one of your best decisions as it offers more flexibility, helping you focus on work and your studies.

Moreover, some institutes allow you to choose your lecture hours while having the chance to engage with your instructors and fellows.

2. Balance your work and personal life.

Maintaining a work life balance can be difficult but helpful for nursing professionals.

Nurses are usually deeply invested in their work that they often forget to build boundaries between their work and personal life.

Consider decreasing your workload and avoiding stacking up your tasks.

Delegate some of your tasks to your colleagues at work and your partner or family members at home to reduce workload.

Leave any feelings or thoughts about work at work when your shift ends.

If you are working night shifts, you can schedule your time during the day with your family and friends because they deserve your presence as well as time too.

Be mindful and present when spending time with your loved ones.

Setting up and keeping to a regular schedule is important.

It is also essential to utilise time off.

Organizations provide time off benefits to their workers to help them improve their work and life balance, so make use of this benefit and relax at home or plan a vacation with your loved one to de stress.

3. Find out the Source of Your Stress.

As a working nurse, many things might disturb you, including workload, criticism, and poor patient outcomes.

Try to identify the circumstances that leave you feeling overwhelmed.

Once you know the reasons for burnout, you can create a plan to address the problems.

If you cannot recognize what is fueling your burnout, track your job responsibilities for a couple of days, and note down how you feel after completing each activity.

If you think some particular individual might be the source of your stress, limit your interaction with them and all those who leave you feeling exhausted and drained at work or home.

4. Prioritize your sleep.

Practising a good night’s sleep and getting sufficient of it is vital to boosting physical and psychological well being and mood.

Most nurse practitioners get insufficient sleep than what is recommended to them.

Sleep deprivation leads nursing professionals to lose focus and be unable to handle tasks efficiently.

It affects their daily performance and can take a toll on their cognitive abilities.

Nurses should set aside time for sleep, at least 7 to 8 hours every night.

Sleeping and waking up regularly at the same time is a bonus.

The quality of your sleep matters.

To enjoy uninterrupted and peaceful sleep, limit your screen time and consumption of alcohol or caffeine before bedtime.

Practising a good sleep schedule can help enhance your stamina, concentration, motivation, and alertness.

5. Learn some coping methods.

Coping methods are strategies that individuals use to cope with stressful situations.

Nurses must learn some coping skills to manage their daily stressors.

These methods include breathing techniques, mindfulness meditation, journaling, exercise, and progressive muscle relaxation.

Managing your stress levels effectively can allow you to feel better physically and mentally and improve your ability to give your best as a healthcare provider.

6. Have a healthy diet.

Taking care of your diet is one of the effective ways to prioritize self care for nursing professionals.

As a busy practitioner, you might not take care of your nutrition, and eventually, you consume processed and sugary items, leading to diminished energy.

Try subscribing to the ready to cook or ready to eat meal program, which can deliver fresh food to your doorstep.

You can also try meal planning apps to get help in planning your healthy diet.

Eating fresh fruits and vegetables, fish, low fat meat, nuts, seeds, and low fat cheese can help enhance your overall health.

7. Do what you enjoy.

Love spending time on the seaside? Are you obsessed with nature? Do you love writing?

Whatever and whoever you like to spend your time with, do it more frequently.

Even when you are not sure, take out some time for self care.

Go shopping, do skincare and relax at home, ask your friend to accompany you, watch a movie with your loved one, read, sing, or whatever your heart desires, go for it!

The more you enjoy doing things, the less stress and worries you will have.

8. Seek Professional Support, If Required.

Nursing professionals work in stressful environments, so it is necessary to recognize how high stress environments affect your health.

If you need help, you can consult a counsellor or a therapist near you to prioritize self care.

In addition, you must take advantage of such benefits, especially when offered by your company.

What you should remember?

From delivering quality patient care and comforting clients’ families to collaborating with doctors, administration, and junior staff, nurse practitioners work tirelessly for their entire shifts.

The only thing that doesn’t get addressed is their self care.

Nurses may experience job burnout due to excessive workload, longer shifts, and lack of appreciation.

This can take a toll on their health physically and psychologically if not addressed.

Following the above tips will improve their mood, focus, and health, helping them to perform well in their profession and prevent burnout.
