What are The Main Differences between Medicare vs Medicaid?

Medicare is a U.S. government health program that offers medical coverage primarily for seniors 65 years and older.

Medicare also caters to younger counterparts with specific disabilities who are eligible for Social Security Disability Insurance.

Also, the program covers under 65 persons who have permanent kidney failure and those with Lou Gehrig’s disease.

Typically, Medicare Insurance coverage works similarly in all the American states.

Therefore, an individual’s coverage choice is constant regardless of whether they travel from state to state.

The history of Medicare dates back to 1965, when President Lyndon Johnson signed it into law on 30th July.

Conversely, Medicaid is a joint federal and state health insurance program that covers people with limited resources to cater to their medical needs. Unlike Medicare, Medicaid coverage varies depending on the state where you reside.

This means your choice of coverage remains unchanged only if you live in the state where you made your application.

Medicaid offers some of the services not applicable to Medicare Insurance, the common ones being nursing facility services and home health services.

This program came into establishment together with Medicare in 1965.

Medicare

How Does Medicare Work?

Medicare covers most of your health services.

Typically, Medicare funding partly comes from the federal government, taxes that one pays for Medicare services, and beneficiaries.

There are two main options regarding Medicare coverage, Original Medicare and Medicare Advantage.

Original Medicare

The Original Medicare cover comprises two health insurance plans.

They include the hospital and medical insurance.

With Original Medicare, you pay 20% deductibles at the beginning of every year.

This plan will cover most but not all of your healthcare services.

Thus, you will have to make out of pocket payments partly.

To reduce pocket payments, you can sign up for other insurance coverages, such as Medigap.

This private insurance program contracts with Medicare and can cover other services not applicable in the Original Medicare program.

Medicare Advantage

Medicare Advantage comprises hospital insurance, medical insurance, and drug coverage.

Original Medicare and Medicare Advantage slightly differ in cost, coverage, and service providers.

For instance, concerning cost, you will pay deductibles, coinsurances, and premiums for both plans.

However, Medicare Advantage reduces out of pocket payments by a great range.

Regarding insurance providers, Original Medicare gives the chance to receive services from any physician in the U.S. who accepts Medicare. Medicare Advantage, on the other hand, operates based on a particular network of health providers.

Medicare Plans

Part A

Also known as hospital coverage, this is a premium free plan.

It covers in patient services, hospice, nursing facility care, and home health care.

Most people 65 years and above do not pay for this plan, especially if they paid Medicare taxes for at least 10 years.

Other parties that are also eligible for this plan include those who are already receiving disability services and individuals who applied for Medicare before 65 years of age.

Part B

It also refers to medical insurance.

This plan covers preventive health care, laboratory services, doctor’s visits, some medical supplies, and other outpatient services.

Individuals eligible for the Part A plan are also suitable candidates for the Part B.

Typically, you must pay for the part B plan every month.

The providers often deduct this bill from your Social Security benefit, Railway Retirement Board, or Civil Servant benefits.

Part C

It is also known as Medicare Advantage, a plan funded by private insurers.

Part C is applicable for individuals with Part A and B plans.

It can also cover vision, dental, and prescription drug fees.

This plan significantly reduces out of pocket payments.

However, you might pay high costs due to coinsurance and deductibles.

Part D

This is the Prescription Drug Coverage, and it varies by plan.

It covers generic and brand name prescription medicines.

Concerning the Part D plan, you will pay out of, pocket.

However, you may have to pay deductibles and copayments for certain medications.

Medicaid

How Does Medicaid Work?

Medicaid pays for most of the expenses not covered by Medicare.

Nevertheless, you may have to contribute a small percentage in copayments for a few medical items and services.

Also, the rules and regulations associated with Medicaid vary from state to state.

Generally, it would help if you met a particular state limit regarding income and resources to be a suitable candidate for this plan.

Below are the groups eligible for Medicaid.

The qualifications apply to the citizens of the United States.

  1. Pregnant women below the standard poverty line of the United States.
  2. Parents and guardians below the poverty line in the United States.
  3. Underage children from low income families.
  4. Older adults with low income who receive financial assistance through Supplementary Security Income.
  5. People living with disability who get help through Supplementary Security Income.

What Does Medicaid Pay For?

  1. Laboratory services
  2. Physician care
  3. Hospital care
  4. Nursing facility healthcare
  5. Home health care
  6. X ray services
  7. Coinsurance
  8. Copayments
  9. Deductibles

What if You Are Eligible for Medicare and Medicaid?

If you already have Medicare coverage, Medicaid will help pay for Part A and B plans, deductibles, coinsurance, and copayments.

The Key Differences between Medicare and Medicaid

differences-between-medicare-medicaid

Medicare is a government funded program, while the government and the state jointly fund Medicaid.

Medicare primarily covers individuals 65 and older and younger individuals with certain chronic conditions, while Medicaid’s coverage varies across all age groups.

Medicare offers the same plan choice in different states, while Medicaid’s service plans vary from state to state.

Medicaid provides services not covered by Medicare, such as nursing facility health care and home care.

Barbara Ellison is one of the coaches that we found this month and we did a little interview with her. She impressed us with her resilience and passion.

She is a seasoned coach with a transformative journey that led her to the world of coaching. After the passing of her husband, she emerged from the widow’s fog, prompting a profound self discovery.

She enrolled in a coaching program, an experience she describes as life changing. It was during a live event that the calling to become a coach crystallized, fueled by her desire to assist others grappling with the same existential question: Who am I?

Her coaching style is marked by her commitment to lifelong learning and a profound sense of purpose, to serve, learn, and then impart that knowledge to others. Her coaching approach is a unique reflection of her personal journey, encapsulated in a 4 step process that simplifies the pursuit of a thriving lifestyle, focusing on essential areas for personal growth.

Meet Life Coach Barbara Ellison:

find-life-coach-barbara-ellison

Name: Barbara Ellison

Pillar: The Spirit, The Mind

Who is this coach for: Anyone who wants to start living a thriving life.

How they can help: Through a 4 step process that focuses on 3 areas that everyone needs to have a thriving lifestyle, as well as assessments and guidance.

First of all, how are you and your family doing after these Pandemic times?

We have a bustling household of 9 ranging in age from 3 to 73 which is down from the grand total of 15 during the pandemic when the older kids were home from college.

How did the coronavirus pandemic affect your clients? Did it affect you at all?

The pandemic opened me up to more opportunities to get the word out.

With 2 different fellow coaches we started podcasts: The Time2Shine Happiness Show, Monday Motivation with the Mavens and the Aging Experts Show which are still on going.

What are the biggest lessons that you learned in this pandemic?

During the pandemic I learned that I could make it on my own.

The world had shut down… I had not!!

I found the world of Zoom, I joined a mastermind that I am still part of and expanded my horizons exponentially across the world.

I have now spoken about my journey to groups across the US into Canada and also Australia.

It has been an amazing ride.

The Origin:

Tell us about you, your career, how you started with your coaching career?

12 years ago at the age of 61, after the death of my husband and waking up from the widow’s fog, I realized that I had no idea of who I was outside of all the labels that I had put on myself through upbringing and societal pressure.

The labels of daughter, wife, mother, divorced failure, wife again, grandmother, business owner and now widow.

Who was Barbara in all of that?

I had no idea and it was the scariest time of my life.

I knew I needed help so I joined a coaching program and it was life changing.

At one of the live events that I attended it hit me that this was what I wanted to do.

I wanted to become a coach.

To be able to help people who were in the same position as I was.

Not knowing who they are!

What was your biggest obstacle that you had to overcome in your life that made you who you are today?

For myself the biggest obstacle to get over was ME!

My limiting beliefs of who I was as a person.

Realizing that for over 60 years I had been living my life through someone else’s lens and I had to get comfortable and accept being me outside of my family dynamics.

The Coaching Style:

How do you innovate with coaching your clients?

I am a lifelong learner and my purpose is to serve God, to learn, and then to teach others what I have learned.

So I am continually learning about new methods, techniques, strategies, life hacks and other tips to improve the lives of my clients.

What’s unique about your coaching approach?

I believe what is unique about my coaching is that I coach on my own journey.

I have a 4 step process that is easy to follow which focuses on the 3 areas everyone needs to have a thriving lifestyle.

Because it starts with 2 separate assessments my clients get a clear perspective of where they are right now and what they want to work on first.

What benefits do your clients get after working with you?

They discover their purpose, passion and drive to take them into an active, healthy and abundant retirement.

Do you use any specific tools to be efficient with your clients?

I use 2 Personality Science Assessments and a Positive Intelligence assessment.

The Impact:

If you had a super megaphone that, when you speak into, the whole world will hear your message, what would you say?

Every day a man near the end of a career dies without a vision of how worthy and valuable they are to the world.

They have allowed who they are at work to upstage their God given value and purpose beyond the job.

It breaks my heart.

My company WELLNESS PLAYROOM: For The Best Version Of You, serves and guides late career baby boomers onto their path to purpose and gives them ways to make their next career a life of unlimited wellness.

They might have begun to feel their body is “falling apart” from stress or not moving

They might be feeling the pressure of needing more financial security for their families and themselves, and they might be welcoming revenue streams outside of their career income.

What is the greatest lesson you have learned in your life?

The biggest lesson that I have learned is that I love being a Trainer.

As a teenager I always wanted to be a teacher.

When I took a teacher class I realized that I would NEVER be a school teacher and back then there were no other options.

It wasn’t until I got into the coaching programs for myself that I realized I still love to teach.

Your final thoughts?

It truly breaks my heart to see the profound struggles faced by so many men who haven’t been guided to find their worth and value beyond their professional titles.

Retirement should be a wonderful phase of life that is fulfilling rather than daunting.

Watching their physical health decline under the heavy burden of stress is nothing short of heart wrenching, so I love the fact that I have an Elite Wellness Brand that can change that struggle plus I can offer 3 financial vehicles that can create residual, passive incomes that are separate from job income.

We need to change how we view and prepare for life after work.

We must provide compassionate guidance and support, encouraging discovery and embracing new aspects of identity and secure a future that transcends professional lives.

With the right guidance that can be had through personal coaching, a brighter, more optimistic future is just around the corner.

I believe that each and every one of us deserves to lead a happy, healthy, debt free and abundant life!

Find Life Coach | Meet Jo Debrincat: How to Unlock The 4 Codes to Success for Women?

Jo Debrincat is one of the coaches that we found this month and we did a little interview with her. She impressed us with her professionalism and innovativeness.

Her journey is full of experience and learning. Beginning as a social worker, she swiftly ascended to leadership positions, accumulating over two decades of invaluable experience. Fueled by a passion for lifelong learning, she immersed herself in studies ranging from grief and loss counseling to leadership and management, theology and ministry, hypnotherapy, psychotherapy, and, most recently, life coaching.

Her coaching path is a culmination of these varied experiences, converging into a soulful mission: empowering individuals to become the best versions of themselves. Innovative and impactful, her coaching approach extends beyond technical skills to delve into the core of leadership development.

For over 20 years, she has navigated leadership roles, and now, with a focus on women in leadership and mindset coaching, she has crafted the “4 Codes to Success.” These codes are guiding women to unleash their unique gifts and lead from their core essence. Here is what she said.

Meet Life Coach Jo Debrincat:

find-life-coach-jo-debrincat

Name: Jo Debrincat

Pillar: The Spirit, The Mind

Who is this coach for: Women who want to become better leaders.

How they can help: Through various coaching tools and techniques like the Time Line Therapy and Parts Integration from NLP, assessments like the Clifton Strengths leadership assessment, and the 4 Codes to Success that she developed.

First of all, how are you and your family doing after these Pandemic times?

Everyone is well.

The pandemic had a significant impact in Australia and in particular the state that l live in, Victoria.

We were in lock down for a significant length of time which impacted greatly on people’s mental health and well being.

I think it brought a whole new level of realisation about the importance of human connection.

How did the coronavirus pandemic affect your clients? Did it affect you at all?

Melbourne was heavily affected by the pandemic, in total we experienced 262 days in lockdown, we experienced greater periods of lock down than any other city in the world.

It’s had a huge toll on people’s mental health and well being, I suspect the impact will affect future generations to come.

Don’t we all talk about life being too short?

l really believe the pandemic woke many people up into really seeing that we have limited time here, we need to create the opportunities for ourselves and seize this very moment if we want to live a truly fulfilled life and create a meaningful career.

During the pandemic I spent a lot of time in nature and spent time reflecting on my soul purpose.

I decided it was time to stop working in corporate and harness my creativity in my own business where l could really have a positive impact on people’s lives.

What are the biggest lessons that you learned in this pandemic?

There will always be outside forces that will have the opportunity to impact us however we need to take responsibility for our experiences.

Connection to our fellow humans and to nature is so vitally important to a fulfilled life and to the development of our soul.

The Origin:

Tell us about you, your career, how you started with your coaching career?

I started my career as a social worker and quickly moved into leadership roles.

I am a lifelong learner so l am always studying something different for my own personal growth and to increase my knowledge.

I studied grief and loss counselling, professional training, leadership and management, theology and ministry, hypnotherapy and psychotherapy.

Most recently, I have studied life coaching.

I have been in leadership roles for over 20 years now.

I have always been very interested in personal development and spiritual growth, everything has really led me to the here and now: creating my coaching business.

This path of service through the means of coaching is my soul’s mission, lm here to support people to be the best possible version of themselves.

What was your biggest obstacle that you had to overcome in your life that made you who you are today?

Learning to be in flow and to trust that by living through inspiration it will open doors to new opportunities.

It takes a great deal of trust when you lean in and really believe that something much greater is in control and that the universe truly does have your back.

I’m also so much more aware these days about how powerful we are and how fortunate we are to be having this earthly experience here and now.

The Coaching Style:

How do you innovate with coaching your clients?

I am working with women in leadership and mindset coaching.

l have developed 4 Codes to Success for women in leadership or business, it’s all about developing from the inside out.

Of course, people need technical skills in leadership roles too however, if you don’t do the work on yourself and work out who and what you are as a leader then it’s always going to be a challenge to lead others effectively.

My clients become clear on their unique values so that they feel capable to show up powerfully and authentically.

They also build self awareness and self belief.

What’s unique about your coaching approach?

My 4 Codes to Success are pivotal in order for women to come into their personal power as a leadership.

I work with clients from the inside out supporting women to tap into their own personal and unique gifts.

The 4 Codes to Success are Self Discovery, Trust and Connection, Authentic Leadership and Personal Mastery.

Leaders can have a profound impact on the people that they lead.

I help people ensure that it’s an inspirational impact and one that changes the trajectory of people’s careers and lives for the better.

The codes are about raising the conscious awareness of female leadership.

My program is structured yet tailored to everyone’s unique and individual needs.

I provide a safe space for women to become empowered, build confidence, resilience and accountability.

What benefits do your clients get after working with you?

My clients gain an enormous amount of clarity and confidence in themselves as individuals and as leaders.

Women learn to trust their instincts and become fearless by fine tuning their emotional intelligence, this allows them to lead authentically and with integrity.

I often use Neurolinguistic techniques (NLP) such as Time Line Therapy and Parts Integration, my clients experience profound healing bringing new insights and release limiting beliefs.

The techniques also improve self awareness, self acceptance and self confidence allowing people to recognise their amazing strengths and recourses.

Do you use any specific tools to be efficient with your clients?

I use Clifton Strengths leadership assessment, it provides people great insight into the major strengths that each individual embodies as a leader.

The assessment provides the top 10 leadership themes in your talent profile.

Leaders who have the awareness and knowledge of where their strengths lie have greater outcomes.

I also really like going through a values process with clients, it’s amazing how many people are not clear on what their key values are and what it’s important to them.

Clarity is one of the keys to success.

I teach people how to lead authentically, to lead in their fullest expression of themselves, so that it will benefit everyone around them.

When we lead from our core being we are leading from our authentic true self.

The Impact:

If you had a super megaphone that, when you speak into, the whole world will hear your message, what would you say?

We can all live and lead from our authentic selves in order to be the fullest expression of ourselves for the benefit of everyone, and most importantly for ourselves.

We have a moment by moment choice to lead in the most powerful way from the core of our being, from the infinite intelligence that lies within us all.

I love supporting women in how they can walk in their true power.

What is the greatest lesson you have learned in your life?

I’ve learnt that we must take constant action particularly when it scares the bejesus out of us if we want to really take steps to achieve our goals and dreams.

I make it a habit of always reminding myself of Joseph Campbells quote whenever l feel afraid to take the next step,

“The cave you fear to enter holds the treasure you seek”.

It’s so very true, the treasure is always there, we just need to be brave enough to take the action and believe in ourselves.

I’ve also become very clear on my “Why”, and l feel so inspired to serve women in Transformational leadership coaching and to raise the consciousness of female leaders.

Your final thoughts?

When we learn to be confident, compassionate, and conscious then we can all contribute to raising the consciousness of women in leadership.

We all have a unique magnificence, something special inside of ourselves just waiting to be expressed.

Find Life Coach | Meet Barry Lipscomb: How to Remove Negative Beliefs and Unleash New Energy and Potential?

Barry Lipscomb is one of the coaches that we found this month and we did a little interview with him. He impressed us with his wisdom and spirituality.

He went from a business career in finance and operations to a transformative coaching. This transformation is marked by his search for fulfillment. He found his passion not in boardrooms but in fostering growth, both individually and within teams. His trajectory took a pivotal turn in his late 30s, battling active addiction amid the pressures of a high stress executive job. Overcoming this challenge prompted deep introspection, leading him to redefine his values and purpose.

His coaching approach incorporates Depth Hypnosis, a transformative modality combining hypnotherapy, transpersonal psychology, and ancient healing practices. Beyond traditional coaching, he introduces the Shamanic Journey, empowering clients to connect independently with their inner guidance and the natural world.

He helps his clients to experience lasting change, shedding limiting beliefs and behaviors, and discovering newfound energy and intention in their lives. Here is what he said.

Meet Life Coach Barry Lipscomb:

find-life-coach-barry-lipscomb

Name: Barry Lipscomb

Pillar: The Spirit

Who is this coach for: Anyone who wants to uncover their negative beliefs, reprogram themselves, and unleash new energy and potential.

How they can help: Through Depth Hypnosis and other various coaching tools and techniques, as well as guiding through the Shamanic Journey for those who are interested.

First of all, how are you and your family doing after these Pandemic times?

We are great and have relocated from the city life of San Francisco to a quieter home in Bucks County Pennsylvania where we now live along the Delaware River and in nature.

It is a real resource for us both to walk daily in nature and enjoy the creeks which run through our property.

How did the coronavirus pandemic affect your clients? Did it affect you at all?

I am just in the last year seeing effects from the pandemic in my clients.

It is showing up as new patterns of anxiety in their lives that they had not previously experienced.

For some, that is appearing as new addictions.

For others, it is a deeper anxiety about being in crowds or traveling in airplanes.

I am also seeing new stress in their intimate relationships.

What are the biggest lessons that you learned in this pandemic?

Every moment matters and things can change quickly so cherish what we have and let everyone in your life know how much they are valued.

The Origin:

Tell us about you, your career, how you started with your coaching career?

Before transitioning into coaching, I had a long business career in finance and operations roles.

While I was quite successful, there always seemed to be something missing.

I never found it wholly satisfying.

What I did always enjoy was developing teams, mentoring people, and helping them be their very best.

Over time, I did more of this type work within my job and eventually on my own outside of that organization.

Today I work with individuals who want to make a change and shift out of limiting beliefs and habitual patterns of behavior and with business leaders in executive coaching to lead more authentically and develop high performing teams.

What was your biggest obstacle that you had to overcome in your life that made you who you are today?

In my late 30s, I found myself in active addiction in response to the hectic and high stress executive job I was in.

Healing that addiction required me to look deeply at myself and determine what was really important to me…

What types of relationships do I want in my life? How do I want to live? Who do I want to be? And what work do I want to do?

These inquiries and the resulting answers have informed who I am today, how I show up in the world, and the work I do with my clients.

The Coaching Style:

How do you innovate with coaching your clients?

Using the light trance of hypnotherapy, I help my clients connect with their own intuition and inner wisdom as a rich resource for fresh thinking, new ideas and innovation.

It’s amazing what we can realize and know on our own when we just quieten our minds and listen to the deep wisdom within each of us.

What’s unique about your coaching approach?

I use Depth Hypnosis in my coaching which is a healing and transformation modality developed by Isa Gucciardi, PhD. combining the modern approaches of hypnotherapy and transpersonal psychology with the ancient healing practices of Tibetan Buddhism and Shamanism.

As such, my coaching provides the means to shift behaviors and beliefs deep in the subconscious for lasting change.

What benefits do your clients get after working with you?

My clients experience new energy and intention in their lives after releasing limiting beliefs and shifting patterns of behavior that are not getting them what they want.

Do you use any specific tools to be efficient with your clients?

The hypnotic trance used in Depth Hypnosis has its roots in the Shamanic Journey which is a way to access inner guidance and connect with the natural world around us.

When interested, I teach my clients the Shamanic Journey which they can do themselves outside of our sessions.

For many, this has become an integral part of their daily practice and a way to connect with their intuition and inner wisdom on their own.

The Impact:

If you had a super megaphone that, when you speak into, the whole world will hear your message, what would you say?

Take the time to discover who you are, deeply and authentically.

And then have the courage to be that person.

You will never regret it and you will find joy in every day of your life.

Believe in yourself and you will accomplish more than you can ever imagine.

What is the greatest lesson you have learned in your life?

Oh boy, just one?

As I am sure with many of your readers, I have had many great lessons in my life.

But if I have to narrow it down to the one, greatest lesson, I would say that ultimately everything I need is within me somewhere.

I just need help assessing and understanding it all.

The mindfulness practices I use in my coaching practice have been invaluable for me in assessing my own inner wisdom to know myself more deeply and then integrate that into how I am in the world.

Your final thoughts?

Anything can be changed and tomorrow is a new day.

You can reinvent yourself at any point in your life.

Beliefs can be changed and behaviours shifted.

It is never too late to be who you really are authentically and do what you really want with your life.

This is The Impact of Diet on Oral Health: A Preventative Dentistry Perspective

Oral health is deeply intertwined with our dietary choices.

The nutrients we consume, or lack thereof, play a critical role in the health of our teeth and gums.

Understanding the Connection Between Diet and Oral Health

the-impact-of-diet-on-oral-health-a-preventative-dentistry-perspective

Understanding this relationship is key in preventative dentistry, which aims to maintain oral health and prevent the development of dental diseases.

The Basics of Oral Health and Nutrition

The mouth is the first point of contact with the nutrients we consume, making it directly affected by our dietary choices.

The type of food and the frequency of consumption can either promote oral health or contribute to dental problems.

Acid and Sugar Impact on Teeth:

Foods and drinks high in sugars and acids are particularly detrimental to oral health.

They contribute to the development of cavities by providing fuel for the harmful bacteria in the mouth, which produce acids that erode tooth enamel.

Role of Nutrients in Oral Health:

Essential nutrients from a balanced diet support oral health.

Calcium and phosphorus, for instance, help to strengthen enamel, while vitamins A, C, and D promote gum health and overall oral immunity.

Harmful Dietary Habits and Their Impact on Oral Health

A critical aspect of maintaining oral health lies in recognizing and moderating harmful dietary habits.

Frequent consumption of certain types of foods and beverages can significantly increase the risk of dental problems such as cavities, enamel erosion, and gum disease.

For personalized guidance on maintaining oral health and making informed dietary choices, consult with a dentist in Simpsonville, SC.

The Perils of Sugary Snacks and Drinks

Sugary foods and beverages pose a major threat to dental health.

Each time sugar is consumed, it interacts with the bacteria in the mouth to produce harmful acids.

These acids attack the tooth enamel in a process known as demineralization, leading to the formation of cavities.

The risk is heightened when sugar intake is frequent, as it doesn’t allow the saliva enough time to neutralize these acids and initiate the remineralization process.

This is particularly concerning with sugary drinks like sodas and fruit juices, which coat the teeth and prolong the exposure to sugar.

Acidic Foods and Beverages: A Hidden Danger

The acidity in certain foods and drinks can be just as harmful as sugar.

Acidic substances, such as those found in citrus fruits, tomatoes, and carbonated beverages, can weaken tooth enamel, making it more susceptible to wear and decay.

Over time, this acid induced erosion can lead to increased tooth sensitivity and a higher risk of cavities.

Moreover, acid erosion can make the teeth more prone to staining, affecting their appearance.

The Sticky Situation with Starchy Foods

Sticky and starchy foods, often overlooked in discussions about oral health, can also be detrimental.

Foods like dried fruits, bread, chips, and other refined carbohydrates tend to cling to teeth and break down into simple sugars.

These sugars feed the oral bacteria, leading to acid production and increasing the likelihood of tooth decay.

Furthermore, because these foods adhere to the tooth surface, they prolong the exposure of teeth to harmful substances, thereby increasing the risk of dental problems.

Balancing the Diet for Oral Health

Recognizing these risks is the first step in modifying dietary habits to support oral health.

It involves not just reducing the intake of harmful foods and drinks but also being mindful of eating patterns, such as the frequency of snacking and the duration of exposure to these substances.

By understanding these dietary impacts, individuals can make informed choices that contribute positively to their oral health.

Nutritional Strategies for Healthy Teeth and Gums

Adopting a diet that supports oral health is a vital component of preventative dentistry.

Understanding which foods and habits promote dental health can help prevent a range of oral issues.

Developing a Tooth Friendly Diet

Creating a diet that benefits your teeth and gums involves incorporating foods that support dental health and limiting those that pose risks.

Incorporate Calcium and Phosphorus Rich Foods:

Foods high in calcium and phosphorus, like dairy products, lean meats, nuts, and beans, help to remineralize teeth and strengthen enamel.

Choose High Fiber Foods:

Foods high in fiber, such as fruits and vegetables, stimulate saliva flow, which is natural protection against cavities and gum disease.

The act of chewing also massages the gums and cleans the teeth.

Limit Sugary and Acidic Foods:

Reducing the intake of sugary snacks, soft drinks, and acidic foods can significantly lower the risk of tooth decay and enamel erosion.

The Role of Water in Oral Hygiene

Water plays an integral role in maintaining oral health:

  1. Natural Cleanser: Drinking water throughout the day helps rinse away food particles and bacteria, reducing the risk of cavities.
  2. Supports Saliva Production: Adequate hydration ensures sufficient saliva production, which is essential for neutralizing acids and providing a defense against tooth decay.

Balancing Nutrition and Oral Health

Balancing your diet is key to promoting oral health:

A balanced diet that includes all food groups provides the nutrients necessary for good oral health.

Frequent snacking, especially on sugary or acidic foods, can increase the risk of cavities.

Opt for healthier snacks like cheese, nuts, or raw vegetables.

Conclusion and Key Takeaways

Diet plays a fundamental role in preventative dentistry.

Understanding the impact of different foods and beverages on oral health is crucial for maintaining a healthy mouth.

Key takeaways include:

  1. Nutrition is Key to Oral Health: A balanced diet rich in essential nutrients is vital for maintaining healthy teeth and gums.
  2. Limit Harmful Foods and Beverages: Reducing the intake of sugars, acids, and sticky foods can significantly decrease the risk of dental issues.
  3. Hydration is Essential: Regular water consumption is important for oral hygiene, helping to cleanse the mouth and support saliva production.
  4. Preventative Care Involves Diet: An effective preventative dentistry approach includes not only regular dental visits and oral hygiene practices but also a careful consideration of diet and nutrition.

In conclusion, integrating nutritional awareness into your oral health routine is an important step in preventative dentistry, helping to ensure long term dental health and overall well being.

The holiday season can be a magical time, but for empaths, intuitives, and highly sensitive individuals, it can also bring unique challenges.

Drawing insights from the newest Dr. Dolores Show Episode, here are 10 holiday tips to help empaths navigate this festive period with mindfulness, self care, and a focus on authentic connections.

1. Embrace Your Sensitivity.

Recognizing and embracing your sensitivity is the foundation for a more harmonious holiday experience.

Understand that feeling things deeply is a strength, not a weakness.

Embracing your sensitivity allows you to navigate the season with authenticity and self-awareness.

2. Practice Self Love.

Make self love a daily practice.

Take moments to reflect on your achievements, acknowledge your strengths, and appreciate your unique qualities.

During the holiday hustle, prioritize activities that bring you joy and recharge your emotional batteries.

3. Mindful Actions Create Change.

Be conscious of the impact of your actions.

Mindful living involves making choices that align with your values and contribute positively to your surroundings.

This awareness can lead to a more intentional and fulfilling holiday season.

4. Contribute Positively.

Understand the power of your thoughts and beliefs in shaping the collective energy.

Consciously cultivate a positive mindset, fostering an atmosphere of harmony and goodwill.

Your contribution to the collective consciousness can create a ripple effect of positivity.

5. Elevate Your Vibration.

Engage in activities that elevate your energy.

Whether it’s spending time in nature, practicing mindfulness, or pursuing creative endeavors, these activities can raise your vibrational frequency, enhancing your overall sense of well being during the holidays.

6. Navigate Projection.

Awareness of projection is key to maintaining emotional boundaries.

Understand that people may project their thoughts and feelings onto you.

By recognizing this phenomenon, you can respond with empathy without absorbing unnecessary emotional baggage.

7. Focus on Meaningful Celebrations.

Shift your focus from material aspects to the meaningful core of celebrations.

Whether it’s spending quality time with loved ones, engaging in cherished traditions, or expressing gratitude, prioritizing the meaningful aspects of the holidays adds depth to your experience.

8. Address Loneliness.

Acknowledge and address feelings of loneliness.

Actively seek connection with friends, family, or supportive communities.

Consider participating in social events that align with your values, providing opportunities for genuine connections.

9. Prioritize Self Care.

Recognize the demands of the season and prioritize self care.

Schedule moments for relaxation, engage in activities that bring you joy, and ensure you are meeting both your emotional and physical needs.

Taking care of yourself is essential for navigating the holiday hustle.

10. Harness Your Inner Wisdom.

Your inner wisdom is a valuable guide during the holidays.

Trust your intuition when making decisions, and choose activities and interactions that align with your authentic self.

Listening to your inner wisdom allows you to create a holiday experience that resonates with your true desires and values.

Whether you’re navigating family gatherings or seeking a deeper connection with your inner self during the holidays, our podcast is here to support you.

7 Reasons Why Hiring a Lawyer in a Criminal Case Isn’t Optional

Facing criminal charges is a daunting experience, and navigating the legal system alone can be overwhelming and stressful.

Here on Life Coach Code we want to help you navigate stressful moments in your life in a way that’s smart and least harmful to you.

There are many ways to make this experience of navigating the legal system a lot less stressful, and one of them is to hire a professional that has your back.

There are some people that might not like the idea and would like to tackle it alone.

But no matter how much you believe in your own innocence or ability to navigate the legal system, you can’t afford not to hire a lawyer.

Yes, it’s your right, but it doesn’t usually end well.

Sometimes you need to ask yourself, is the stress worth it?

7 Reasons Why You Should Hire a Lawyer:

reasons-hiring-a-lawyer-in-a-criminal-case-isnt-optional

1. The Legal Maze is Mind Boggling.

Picture this: You’re lost in a labyrinth, surrounded by confusing twists and turns.

That’s what the legal system feels like when you’re going through it on your own.

Laws, rules, and procedures?

They’re like a different language.

And navigating this maze alone can feel overwhelming and even scary at times.

Continuing with the labyrinth analogy, an attorney knows where the “exit” is and has the tools and experience needed to guide you without exposing you to unnecessary risks.

2. Criminal Law Isn’t a DIY Project.

You might think you know a thing or two about how court cases work from watching Law and Order or reading a couple of John Grisham novels, but criminal law isn’t a place for DIY experiments or YouTube level knowledge.

It’s not just about being innocent or guilty, it’s about proving it.

A good attorney has spent years studying the legal system, understands case law, and has the experience of helping hundreds or even thousands of clients over the years.

They understand the ins and outs, the loopholes, and the strategies to defend your innocence effectively.

3. The Stakes Are Too High to Risk It.

Imagine playing poker with everything on the line, your freedom, your reputation, your future.

That’s what a criminal case is like.

The consequences of a wrong move or an inadequate defense could be life altering.

Sure, you could risk it by representing yourself and just happen to get a royal flush, but what are the odds?

Conventional wisdom and history says very few people who choose to represent themselves come out of a high stakes case with the outcome they desire.

Yes, it costs money to hire an attorney.

And, yes, you have to give up some level of control.

However, in the end, hiring an attorney is almost always worth it.

4. You Aren’t Innocent Until Proven Guilty.

The legal system in the United States is supposed to be predicated on the principle that every defendant is innocent until proven guilty.

But does it actually work that way?

“As much as you may want to believe otherwise, juries typically don’t believe accused criminals are innocent until proven guilty,” attorney Kyle Whitaker writes.

“Like most Americans, jurors deciding the fate of a person charged with a serious crime, murder, assault, theft, fraud, etc. usually come into a case believing the judge should lock up the accused party and throw away the key.”

Don’t choose to represent yourself simply because you believe your innocence will shine through.

You need an attorney to make sure you change the way jurors potentially see you.

5. Expertise Matters More Than Belief.

Believing in your innocence is one thing, but proving it in court is another.

There’s an art and a science to telling your story, framing it up, and presenting the facts in the most logical and compelling way possible.

For example, you might assume that the best way to proclaim your innocence is to start at the beginning and sequentially lay out all of the details for the judge or jury to hear.

An experienced attorney, however, understands the power of emotions and framing.

She might start with the end of the story and then work backward to influence the way the judge or jury sees the case.

At the end of the day, an attorney possesses the legal know how, courtroom experience, and skill to design a defense that stands strong, even when the odds are stacked against you.

6. Building a Strong Defense Takes Skills.

Ever tried building something without the right tools?

It’s tough.

Making a strong defense in a criminal case is no different.

Lawyers have the tools, the legal knowledge, research skills, and the ability to gather evidence and witnesses to support your case.

They know how to build a defense that can work to your advantage in even the most difficult circumstances.

7. Avoiding Legal Pitfalls is Crucial.

One wrong step in the legal process can cost you big time.

Seriously, all it takes is one slip up when you’re presenting your case, one oversight, or even a brief moment where you let your emotions get the best of you, and your entire case can go up in flames.

An attorney doesn’t just help you figure out the best strategy to use, they also understand the nuances of the legal procedures, ensuring you don’t accidentally harm your case.

What You Should Remember?

When you’re facing a criminal case, hiring a lawyer isn’t just a safety net, it’s your best shot at a fair fight.

They’re not just legal experts, they’re your defenders, your guides, and your advocates.

They’re there to level the playing field, protect your rights, and fight for the justice you deserve.

Don’t do this alone. Find an attorney you’re comfortable with and work closely with them to handle your case appropriately.

First of all, how are you and your family doing after these Pandemic times?

We lost many dear family members and friends to the pandemic.

As part of those who survived the pandemic, I feel deeply grateful.

This experience changed the course of my work and offerings.

I feel a deeper responsibility, even more than ever before, to be of service.

How did the coronavirus pandemic affect your clients? Did it affect you at all?

By March 2020, people were struggling with fears, anxieties, and were experiencing heightened levels of stress.

From anxiety about personal and family wellbeing to uncertainty at work to broader fears about an uncertain future, people were suffering.

I’m grateful that my spiritual practice kept me grounded through it all.

I created The Peace Practice in March 2020.

It is the art of grounding in your inner power, which is inner peace, through silence meditation.

I offered this in the form of daily 15 minute live meditations via Zoom to help people experience calmness.

This had a great impact on the people who invested 15 minutes each day with me.

This offering continues and I’ve led over 900 live meditation sessions to date.

What are the biggest lessons that you learned in this pandemic?

1. Transience:

Life is like a dewdrop.

Life is like lightning and thunder.

Life is like fog or mist.

An appearance in time and space on a vast timeless boundless canvas.

Here now, gone soon.

Don’t postpone to tomorrow, the love you should express toward your dear ones now.

Give them a listening ear, a loving smile, a warm hug today.

The past is history, and the future is a mystery, but the present is a trustworthy gift, ever present, here, now.

Don’t lose sight of the present.

Live in the present, be present, be the presence.

2. Gratitude:

Life brings many challenges.

But life also brings many gifts.

Even as you encounter challenges, always notice life’s gifts which are here, now.

Feel grateful for the gifts of life here, now.

The people, the things, the experiences that you ought to cherish, cherish them here, now.

Living with a grateful heart here and now is the preventive medicine for the pain and suffering of regrets, resentments, and guilt in the future.

Being grounded:

It is so easy to be perturbed, there are plenty of things that can trigger anger, fear, and their cousins in your life.

When you lose your calmness, you are a weaker form of yourself.

You cannot help yourself and certainly you cannot help others who need help.

It is best to be grounded through the storms of life.

Cultivating silence keeps you rooted in your inner power.

I was aware of all this through the course of two decades of spiritual practice.

I was teaching this to others.

Yet, the pandemic highlighted the importance of these for me, for which I’m grateful.

The Origin:

Tell us about you, your career, how you started with your coaching career?

I’ve been a technologist and tech entrepreneur for over 34 years.

In year 2000, life took a fateful turn when my father had a series of strokes and was given a couple of weeks to live.

This thrusted the rational skeptic and engineer in me into an unlikely journey through healing, self transformation, and Self Realization.

What started as impossible healing miracles, turned into unimaginable manifestations, blossoming of intuition, and many years of continuous self transformation on my spiritual path.

In year 2013, a chance viewing of an online video connected me with the nondual teachings of the awakened Master, Ramana Maharshi.

Soon, the blessing of awakening to my true self unfolded.

The initial stages of my work with others centered around healing.

As my personal practice deepened, I found myself intuitively leading others to transform themselves.

Today, the work on healing and self transformation has dramatically shifted, with a clear foundation of nondual Reality.

Healing means to become whole, yet Wholeness is one’s real nature.

Self transformation is powerful until one realizes that the source of their inner power is already their own real nature.

This Self realization is one’s destiny.

This experiential understanding guides my healing, mentoring and coaching work, as well as my teaching and writing.

What was your biggest obstacle that you had to overcome in your life that made you who you are today?

The obstacles I’ve experienced on my journey have varied.

At some times, my natural skepticism was a hurdle and I had to train myself to be open to new experiences and experience the experience while it was occurring and later analyze it.

At other times, it was the painful inability to coherently explain the experiences I was experiencing.

Miraculous life experiences were running way ahead of my ability to explain them.

So, lacking a clear model of how life could produce miracles in an ordinary person, I shut myself off from teaching and mentoring twice in my journey.

I had to train myself to be comfortable with “not knowing.”

When I embraced not knowing, I began flowing again.

For most of the journey, I was living life on two separate tracks: the rational technologist entrepreneur with CxO responsibilities on one track, and the intuitive healer and spiritual practitioner with miraculous life experience on the other track.

For the longest time, I couldn’t entirely blend these two lives.

With the help of a life coach, I realized midway in my journey, that I had to embrace the calling of my heart, which at that time was the “healer” and permit the healer to be present even in business settings.

When I allowed myself to embrace the calling of the heart, my experiences in business also started changing.

People in the workplace felt calmer and peaceful just being in my presence.

More recently, in January 2020, I had written and published my first book, “Awaken: An Experiential Exploration of Enlightenment.”

The pandemic hit hard as I was beginning my campaign to get the word out.

I had a plan, but life had a different one.

Life’s plan took precedence as I flowed with life’s flow.

That is what led me to creating the Peace Practice to emphasize the importance of recognizing your inner power which is inner peace and embracing it and rooting in it.

While I was heading in the direction of exclusively focusing on nondual teachings, life moved through me to establish the preparatory pathways and practices that are entirely consistent with the nondual truth of existence.

The biggest hurdle in life is judging that something is a hurdle.

Clearly any judgment like this emerges from limiting beliefs and expectations.

In turn, the biggest hurdle in life is me, the limited individual that I think I am, that has these limiting beliefs and expectations.

I am like the Sky (the real Me is Sky like) but have been identifying myself with clouds.

The point of hurdles, including the biggest hurdle, has been to point to me the boundless true self.

Hurdles have been an aid to this Self Realization.

The Coaching Style:

How do you innovate with coaching your clients?

Everyone’s experience of life is unique.

Even so, there are some fundamental commonalities.

Everyone desires peace, love, happiness, fulfillment, abundance, and freedom (“Sukha” in Sanskrit).

No one truly desires perturbation, fears, struggles, stuckness, and suffering (“Dukkha” in Sanskrit).

Everyone wants Sukha and no one wants Dukkha.

Why? Why are we wired to seek Sukha and avoid Dukkha?

Everyone’s true self is peace without change, happiness without cause, love without conditions, freedom without bounds, and timeless wholeness.

Whether they realize it or not, people miss their true self, and truly yearn for their own real nature.

Since everyone’s true yearning is to be who they truly are, my offerings are organized under a simple idea: Being YOU.

The essential innovation of my mentoring and coaching is centered around these ten truths, that connect self care, healing, and self transformation to Self Realization:

  1. There is a great power within you.
  2. Inner peace is your inner power, and it is in the silence of the heart.
  3. You have an innate ability to heal. The source of this healing ability is your own inner power.
  4. Your inner power is the reservoir of unchanging peace, unconditional love, and causeless happiness.
  5. Your inner power is the wellspring of clarity and wisdom, courage and strength, creativity and compassion.
  6. Everything you need to heal, everything you need to make wise decisions and take powerful actions, everything you need to succeed in your endeavors, everything you need to experience fulfillment, exists within you as your inner power.
  7. A steady practice of cultivating silence (Mauna, silence in Sanskrit), and adjunct practices such as cultivating gratitude help you connect with your inner power and unleash it as a steady life experience.
  8. You can be a better form of yourself today than yesterday (Shin Shin Kaizen, continuous improvement of heart mind in Japanese). The steady embrace of your inner power enables sustained self transformation.
  9. The steady cultivation of silence is also a powerful preparatory practice that enables Self Realization (Atmabodha or Atma Jnana in Sanskrit), experiencing who you really are, experiencing your real nature, experiencing Reality.
  10. When you realize your original nature (through Atma Vichara, Self Inquiry in Sanskrit) and live as your true self, the One without a second, that is Enlightenment (a stateless state of No otherness, Nirvana aka Liberation).

Rather than a mishmash of techniques and hacks, everything here is rooted in the notion of your inner power whose source is the real YOU.

Everything is streamlined to guide you to Being YOU, being the real YOU.

Every person is at a different stage in their journey to being their true self.

For some, the need is healing of some challenging physical or mental conditions.

For others, it is overcoming life or work issues, or transforming unhelpful attitudes or behaviors.

For sincere spiritual seekers, it is the yearning to awaken to their true self.

Each mentoring and coaching session with each person is unique and flows in exactly the way it needs to.

The principles are the same, the tools and techniques are the same, yet the flow of it is tailored to the person and their present need.

What’s unique about your coaching approach?

I came though fifteen years of study, practice, and growth through healing work and self transformation.

I had learned and spottily applied literally hundreds of techniques and practices over this time.

For the rational skeptic in me, the investment in these experiments brought unbelievable experiences of miracles.

Yet, something was missing.

As a natural and creative problem solver and a systems thinker, I was still not seeing the big picture, as evidenced by the utter lack of answers to many profound questions from my experiences and from life itself.

The answers came when I turned inward to inquire into “Who am I?” rather than solely dwelling on finding answers outside of myself to my profound questions.

The answers came in and as Self Realization.

It is these life experiences that have shaped my holistic coaching approach.

What I offer is a systematic framework to aid in self care and healing, continuous self transformation, and Self Realization.

What I offer has the same single thread running through it all, the emphasis on your inner power, the cultivating of your inner power and its practical and profound benefits, the foundation it lays for Self Realization, and realizing the source of your inner power as your original nature.

The tools and techniques that I apply in the mentoring process are sourced from diverse traditions such as Yoga, Traditional Japanese Reiki, Bhakti (devotional surrender), and ultimately Advaita Vedanta (the direct wisdom pointers to true self).

The approach I use starts with meeting people where they are in their journey and holding their hands as they walk their path to being their true selves in their own way and pace.

What benefits do your clients get after working with you?

The healing of physical or mental conditions, the growing sense of calmness and all its attendant benefits, these are common benefits that people experience.

When people approach me with life or work challenges, they often find their way to deeper understanding of themselves and unique ways to overcome their challenges.

They gain the clarity and wisdom they need.

They step out of their limited and often limiting perspectives and get their “ah ha” moments which open the door to flowing in their life or work.

The most valuable benefits they get, in my view, come from following my guidance and establishing their own steady daily practice.

It is the gift that keeps on giving.

Do you use any specific tools to be efficient with your clients?

In my coaching, I emphasize the importance of building the foundation, and that is singularly aimed at connecting to one’s inner power, embracing one’s inner power, and rooting in one’s inner power.

Without it, all there will be is a hodge podge of unrelated tools and techniques.

I do use many tools, techniques, and select hacks in my coaching and mentoring depending on the needs of the individual and the situation they are in, and the stage in their life journey.

Sourced from diverse traditions, many of these tools and techniques also have scientific evidence of their effectiveness.

The purpose of most of these tools is to return the person from their place of weakness to their place of inner power.

I also apply my related offerings, in the form of original healing and meditation tracks, eBooks, digital courses, and books in print as needed at a given stage in the mentoring process.

I also tap into a vast and growing repository of over 4000 articles I’ve written to help the person gain deeper understanding and make progress in their journey.

The Impact:

If you had a super megaphone that, when you speak into, the whole world will hear your message, what would you say?

You are not a weak or limited individual.

There is a great power within you.

Inner peace is your inner power.

Cultivate inner peace and unleash your innate healing ability, a strong foundation of calmness, and tap into everything you need, such as clarity and wisdom, courage and strength, creativity and compassion, to gain success and fulfillment in life.

Start with self care and healing, go deeper into continuous self transformation, and eventual Self Realization.

This is your birthright.

Realizing your true self is your destiny.

The world awaits you being YOU.

What is the greatest lesson you have learned in your life?

I have felt like a weak, limited, powerless individual in a world gone crazy.

Big family, society, and national problems always seemed daunting and insurmountable.

Profound questions seemed impenetrable and without any answers.

Why am I here? Why do bad things happen to good people? What is life?

In addition to these common imponderables, I had my own unique questions:

Why were miracles happening in my life? What is their source? What unleashes them into life experiences?

I spent tens of thousands of dollars in the bazaar of promises that would lead me to the land of milk and honey.

Many teachers and their teachings did help reveal pieces of a puzzle.

But the puzzle itself never seemed to reveal its true shape.

The greatest lesson I’ve learned in my life is that I am not who I thought I was.

My real nature is not limited, weak, or powerless.

My real nature is timeless and boundless.

If that lesson was only conceptual, it would have had limited value.

Through glimpses and extended consistent experiences, I received the gift of this greatest lesson that not only there is a great power coursing in me, but the same great inner power is coursing in everyone.

“I am” is not the personal, little me.

The real “I am” is existence itself.

I am not separated from life.

It is not adequate to even say that I am connected with life.

The greatest lesson implies that life and I are One, and that life is just another name for the Real Me.

I am not living life.

Life is living as the little me just as it is as everything and everyone else.

The greatest lesson I’ve learned is that I am not the otherness I feel, rather, the Real Me is the source of the inner power that courses within.

My true nature is No otherness.

It is not even “my true nature”, rather, it is what is Real.

The greatest lesson I’ve learned is not that “I have learned the greatest lesson”, rather, the sense of otherness in which I’ve been vested is unreal.

Pointers to this have been there in plain sight in authentic scriptures all along.

Somehow, like Superman wasn’t visible to those who only saw Clark Kent, Reality has been invisible to the little me, the otherness I thought I was.

The little me was obscuring Reality.

There isn’t a “Sundar” here, just a sense of “Sundar ness”, whose nature is less material than the mist that obscures the mountain.

Like a mirage which appears real, but isn’t real as it seemed to be, so too is “Sundar” which appears real, but is merely a “Sundar ness” which doesn’t really exist in stillness or silence.

Your final thoughts?

No matter what challenges you face in life, know that there is a great power that is already within you.

You can unleash this great inner power into your life through simple and effective practices starting with silence meditation.

The fruits of the investment in cultivating your inner power are manifold: clarity, wisdom, courage, strength, creativity, compassion, mindfulness, heartfulness, healing, calmness, contentment, love, abundance, and freedom.

The great Martial Arts Master, Bruce Lee said, “I fear not the man who has practiced 10,000 kicks once, but I fear the man who has practiced one kick 10,000 times.”

In the same way, it is wise to practice one foundational technique, the art of silence, the way of connecting to and embracing your inner power.

When you get adept at it, when your practice deepens, it will effortlessly unleash everything you need in life to make wise decisions, take powerful actions, and lead a successful and fulfilling life.

The source of this inner power is your own original nature, your true self.

When you realize this, you are truly free from all of life’s limitations, struggles, and suffering.

It is the same foundational path of silence that also prepares the ground for your eventual Self Realization.

Self care and healing, continuous self transformation, or Self Realization, whatever your need may be and wherever you are in your life journey, I can offer help and guidance based on authentic teachings and direct, personal experience.
