The intricate link between the mind and the body has long fascinated the medical community, particularly in understanding the etiology of excess weight.
Psychosomatics, a field that explores how psychological processes affect physiological conditions, offers valuable insights into why some individuals struggle with weight management.
This article delves into the psychosomatic connections with excess weight and examines the potential role of weight loss injections as a supplementary treatment (for example Semaglutide for Weight Loss).
Psychosomatic Factors and Excess Weight:
Understanding Psychosomatics in Weight Management
The term “psychosomatic” implies an interplay between mind (psyche) and body (soma), suggesting that our mental state can significantly influence physical health.
In the context of weight management, emotional factors like stress, anxiety, and depression are often key contributors to weight gain.
The body’s response to stress, for instance, involves the release of cortisol, a hormone that can lead to increased appetite and fat deposition.
Additionally, psychological conditions can impact eating behaviors.
Emotional eating, where individuals consume food for comfort rather than hunger, is a common response to negative emotions.
This behavior often leads to the consumption of high calorie, low nutrient foods, contributing to weight gain.
The Role of Weight Loss Injections in Addressing Psychosomatic Factors
Recent advancements in obesity treatment have introduced weight loss injections as a promising tool.
These injections, typically encompassing medications like liraglutide or compounded semaglutide, function by mimicking hormones that target areas in the brain responsible for appetite regulation.
By reducing hunger and increasing feelings of fullness, these injections can aid in controlling the impulsive eating often associated with emotional distress.
While weight loss injections are primarily physiological in their mechanism, their effect on appetite regulation can indirectly address some psychosomatic aspects of weight management.
By alleviating the constant preoccupation with food, these treatments can provide a foundation upon which individuals can build healthier psychological relationships with food and eating.
Integrating Psychosomatic Approaches with Medical Treatments
For optimal results, it is crucial to integrate psychosomatic approaches with medical treatments like weight loss injections.
This holistic strategy can include:
1. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): CBT can help individuals recognize and modify negative thought patterns and behaviors related to eating and weight management.
2. Stress Management Techniques: Practices such as mindfulness, meditation, and yoga can reduce stress and its impact on eating behaviors.
3. Nutritional Counseling: Education on balanced diets and healthy eating habits is essential, especially in understanding how emotions influence food choices.
4. Regular Physical Activity: Exercise is not only vital for burning calories but also for improving mental health and reducing stress.
5. Support Groups: Sharing experiences and strategies with others facing similar challenges can provide emotional support and motivation.
Case Studies and Research Findings
Numerous studies have highlighted the effectiveness of combining psychological interventions with medical treatments for weight management.
For instance, research has shown that individuals receiving both CBT and weight loss injections reported greater satisfaction with their eating patterns and improved overall well-being compared to those receiving only one form of treatment.
The Way Forward: A Comprehensive Approach to Weight Management
Addressing excess weight requires a multifaceted approach that acknowledges the complex interplay between the mind and body.
While weight loss injections offer a significant leap forward in treating obesity, their full potential is realized when combined with psychosomatic interventions.
Medical professionals should aim to provide a comprehensive treatment plan that not only focuses on the physical aspects of weight loss but also addresses the psychological factors contributing to obesity.
The connection between psychosomatics and excess weight is a pivotal aspect of understanding and treating obesity.
Weight loss injections, as part of a broader treatment regime that includes psychological support and lifestyle changes, can be an effective tool in managing weight.
By embracing a holistic approach that considers both the mind and body, individuals struggling with weight management can achieve sustainable health improvements and a better quality of life.
Edith Moricz is one of the coaches that we found this month and we did a little interview with her. She impressed us with her professionalism and expertise.
She harnessed the breadth of her experiences to guide others on their journey to success. With over two decades of diverse roles, ranging from financial advising to charitable fundraising, adjunct college teaching, and career coaching, her trajectory has been anything but conventional.
Her path was not smooth. Twelve years ago, a corporate restructuring shook the foundations of her career, leading her on a quest for her dream job. Through the trials and triumphs of her own job search, she not only secured that coveted position but also discovered a passion for helping others navigate the complexities of the professional landscape. In 2016, she launched the FastTrack2YrDreamJob coaching program, a testament to her commitment to steering talented professionals toward their aspirations.
She has been recognized as LinkedIn’s #1 Career Coach in 2017 and awarded the Top 10 list in 2021. From overcoming childhood bullying to excelling academically and cultivating an unwavering sense of self, her personal challenges have shaped a coaching style that prioritizes individual strengths, values, and the qualitative and quantitative impact clients make on their communities. Today, she can help you land your dream job in the shortest path possible and excel in it. Here is what she said.
Meet Life Coach Edith Moricz:
Name: Edith Moricz
Pillar: The Mind
Who is this coach for: Anyone who wants to land their dream job in the shortest path possible.
How they can help: Through an evaluation of the clients’ passions and skills, weekly plan for ideal job search, accountability, support before and after interviews, improving confidence, and managing frustrations.
First of all, how are you and your family doing after these Pandemic times?
We are doing well, thank you.
How did the coronavirus pandemic affect your clients? Did it affect you at all?
Many of my clients needed job search or career transition support as they were relocating across the country, as well as from overseas to the U.S.
What are the biggest lessons that you learned in this pandemic?
Consistent self development and nurturing physical, mental, and emotional well being are crucial for managing uncertainly during challenging times and for achieving life and career goals.
The Origin:
Tell us about you, your career, how you started with your coaching career?
My 20+ years career path has included financial advising, charitable fundraising, adjunct college teaching, and career coaching.
About 12 years ago, I was Director of Development and Marketing at a non profit organization.
A corporate restructuring led to my job search.
After many frustrations and disappointments in my job search, I landed my dream job.
After that experience, I wanted to help talented professionals land their dream job in the shortest path by avoiding the many mistakes I had made in my job search.
In 2016, I launched my career coaching program, “FastTrack2YrDreamJob”.
Based on my nationwide client success stories, I was recognized as LinkedIn’s #1 Career Coach in 2017 and LinkedIn’s Top 10 Career Coach in 2021, in addition to receiving a Tory Burch Foundation Grant in 2021.
What was your biggest obstacle that you had to overcome in your life that made you who you are today?
Throughout my childhood and school years, I was bullied and harassed by my classmates due to my congenital difference.
The experience led me to excel academically, to develop a strong sense of self awareness, confidence, persistence, self motivation and resilience.
I work well on team projects, but I also enjoy pursuing independent projects that leverage my creative skills, especially my writing and public speaking skills.
One of the key lessons I’ve learned in my life is not letting others’ opinions or thoughts define you or set your path.
Challenges in life are much like a job search: there will be frustrations, disappointments and rejection.
You distinguish yourself from other candidates based on your verbal and non verbal presentation, your values and the impact you’ve made in the community throughout your career and life path.
Based on my own career and life path, I’m delighted to share my insights and expertise for creating an effective job search plan and for landing dream jobs.
The Coaching Style:
How do you innovate with coaching your clients?
My coaching program is customized based on each client’s goals and values.
Attending industry Webinars and master mind meetings are few ways that I stay on top of industry trends and offer best practices to create the most effective strategies for my clients to land their dream jobs in the shortest path.
I offer coaching support via phone, video, email, in person and through my podcasts.
Also, I believe that career success goes hand in hand with life success.
Based on my own life experiences in the following areas, I integrate my insights and best practices into each client‘s coaching program (based on each client‘s challenges and goals):
Building and maintaining confidence.
Leading and managing teams.
Managing obstacles.
Ensuring diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
Demonstrating resilience.
What’s unique about your coaching approach?
My coaching program focuses on my client’s skills, passions and the impact (qualitative and quantitative) that these have made on the community throughout their life and career.
Understanding my client’s values and ensuring their alignment with organizational cultures is key for my client to feel excited and inspired by the job opportunity.
I offer a money back guarantee and a flexible payment plan.
What benefits do your clients get after working with you?
FastTrack2YrDreamJob Program is personalized career coaching that includes life coaching to help create an equilibrium in my client’s life: landing the dream job is part of their life and career success story.
I provide consistent support to manage the challenges, frustrations and struggles of the job search.
My coaching calls help each client stay confident before, during and after interviews and in negotiating their compensation package.
Guiding them on a 2 to 3 days per week, 1 hour each day job search plan fosters a smart, healthy balance with their personal obligations.
This balance and focused job search plan creates powerful, persuasive, and succinct verbal and written narratives which are the key pieces to a successful job search that lands the dream job.
Do you use any specific tools to be efficient with your clients?
I love sending uplifting, affirming and energizing audio messages to my clients, as well as sharing my Podcast series with them.
The Impact:
If you had a super megaphone that, when you speak into, the whole world will hear your message, what would you say?
Leverage your uniqueness (skills, passions) and align with organizations that share your values and recognize your expertise.
Make sure that the organization you choose to partner with excites you and inspires you with their mission.
When you receive multiple job offers, choose the organization that is truly excited to have you join its team… they will make you feel special and appreciated.
What is the greatest lesson you have learned in your life?
I’ve learned that daily gratitude for life’s blessings is essential.
I’ve also learned to focus my time on leveraging my strongest skills and passions while outsourcing my areas of weakness.
This has maximized my daily happiness while helping others achieve their life and career goals.
Your final thoughts?
Nothing to add.

Arnaud de Korver is one of the coaches that we found this month and we did a little interview with him. He impressed us with his deep wisdom and pureness.
His life story reads like an odyssey, weaving through different cultures, challenges, and a pivotal moment that shaped his profound understanding of perspective. He was born in the Netherlands but raised in diverse locales such as Brazil, Belgium, and Germany. He found his purpose after a sabbatical year, transitioning from a successful career in global event management to coaching.
His unique journey, marked by a childhood accident that shaped his perspective about perspective, led him to a coaching philosophy centered on authenticity and deep self discovery. Specializing in coaching men, he innovatively addresses the imbalance between healthy masculine and feminine aspects within individuals. By fostering mindset shifts and connecting clients with their inner wisdom (“the wild self”), he empowers them to find answers within.
His coaching is unique and customized to each individual. He uses his deep intuition that’s guiding him to deliver the best results for each client. With tools like Emotional Intelligence, NLP, and intuition, he guides his clients to rediscover their purpose, achieve balance, and experience the transformative benefits of his holistic coaching approach. He believes that nobody wants to be evil or do bad, nobody wants to hate, but our deep wounds and conditioning is what pulls the strings behind the curtain. Here is what he said.
Meet Life Coach Arnaud de Korver:
Name: Arnaud de Korver
Pillar: The Spirit, The Mind, The Heart
Who is this coach for: Men who want to master their emotions, find clarity and fulfillment, and awaken the wild self.
How they can help: Through intuitive guidance and reframing perspectives, by using various tools and techniques like NLP, guided meditations, emotional mapping, and self regulation, just to name a few.
First of all, how are you and your family doing after these Pandemic times?
Thank you for asking.
My family and myself are doing very well.
It was a strange time for all of us on multiple different levels.
For me personally, when the pandemic hit, I was still working for an NGO supporting the homeless, connecting “Economical Homeless” to people who have an extra room in their home that they want to rent out through the NGO.
So I was one of the few that still had to go to the office everyday, ride the ghost like train to work everyday, cycle through the empty roads of Amsterdam and thus not be stuck at home.
It didn’t feel right to be living in the city this way.
A very important concept was missing, and that was connection.
How did the coronavirus pandemic affect your clients? Did it affect you at all?
Like mentioned earlier, the corona pandemic was a strange time.
It created such a big shift in people where they almost had to take a deep breath and ask themselves, “Is this what I really want?”
It was a moment where multiple men and woman were wondering if there is more to life than just this hamster wheel we were all on.
So despite the drastic effects it had on health, lives, the economy, etc… it also opened up a few doors on what is important in life.
So it was a bit of a double whammy.
I would say that many of my clients were feeling a little lost, unsure of how to take the next step as it wasn’t clear what that next step is or was.
What are the biggest lessons that you learned in this pandemic?
Life can and will always throw curveballs at you.
Learn to embrace them, see them as opportunities rather than live in victim mode.
There are terrible things that can happen in life, but if we lead from a space of LOVE, then we can already shift and change lives.
And yes, it is very difficult sometimes… but who knows what the person on the other end is experiencing.
Learn to express and let express, then growth will follow.
The Origin:
Tell us about you, your career, how you started with your coaching career?
Wow, well I was born in the Netherlands, but didn’t live in the Netherlands until I was 10.
Before that I lived in Brazil, Belgium and Germany.
So I guess you could say travelling has always been in my blood.
Fast forwarding, by the time it got to the age of making a decision on what to study and what my future would look like, I had just done a sabbatical year to go explore and figure out what I wanted in life.
I studied events management as I felt this was best aligned with what would make people happy.
I wanted to make people happy by creating amazing memorable events in their lives.
I did this for many years, in London, Moscow, Australia, the Netherlands and a few more.
This all being said, something was missing in the sustainability of what I was doing.
Sustainability on the planet, and also on the depth of what happiness was for others.
This got me thinking again, what is the purpose of life, what do I want to do, how can I best serve others and the planet, how can I have more fun, etc.
I had a moment of doubt and self exploration (not the first time when it came to the subject of purpose), which brought me to where I am today.
I sat down to figure out, what am I good at and what have others said about me.
I have always been extremely good at listening to people’s stories (I am fascinated by their stories), have always been good at getting people to trust me and open up to me, and have been told I was good at supporting them through that as well.
On top of that, I have always had a strong belief that people don’t want to do harm, don’t want to be evil, don’t want to hate, etc… but through our deep wounds and conditioning, this is sometimes the result.
So how better can I serve the planet, help the nature that lives on it by supporting the people on it.
If we are all living more aligned, more authentic and enjoying ourselves from a space of love, then all nature will thrive from that too.
What was your biggest obstacle that you had to overcome in your life that made you who you are today?
I don’t know if I would call this an obstacle, but a big event that took place when I was 5 definitely gave me a better understanding of perspectives.
I was run over by a car when I was 5, had to be flown to the hospital by helicopter as my head was open, broken leg and collarbone and needed quick assistance.
What I remember before getting hit however, was feeling guilty for the woman who hit me.
There was nothing she could have done, and it was completely my fault.
Now please understand, this is a major thing that happened, but it didn’t leave me scarred in a way of being fearful of life, if anything it did the opposite for me.
But what it taught me was the power of perspective.
My experience in that moment was very different from the driver’s experience, as it was to my parents, as it was to the bypasser, and so forth.
So many different perspectives and angles to the exact same event!
An event that evolved around a mistake I made.
So many emotions which are justified and yet potentially based around a perspective that is not fully correct.
This understanding of perspective guided me throughout the rest of my life, and I feel has played a very important role in my skill of listening to people and helping them see things from different perspectives.
You see, what we believe becomes our truth, and so first we need to see if the perspective of what we believe is correct.
From here we can quickly shift our mindset.
I’ve had many more challenges and obstacles along the way that have helped shape who I am today.
That feeling of being lost, not good enough even though I knew how good I was, not knowing what my purpose was, etc.
These challenges were tough ones to go through, as it really did sometimes feel like there wasn’t something out there for me that would give me the satisfaction I seeked.
And once I let that go, understood truly what my inner truth was, what my wild self was asking for, all clarity came from there.
The Coaching Style:
How do you innovate with coaching your clients?
So I coach MEN.
Currently there is a little imbalance in our healthy masculine (leadership, assertiveness, emotional control, integrity) and healthy feminine (empathy, intuition, creativity, patience) within us and I have found it deeply important for us men to step into that role.
It’s not easy for men to talk about emotions.
In a world full of “shoulds” about being a man, there’s a bunch of guys just wanting to be real, live from the heart, and connect deeply.
They’re the silent warriors, stuck between what society expects and who they really are, much like animals whose voices we don’t get.
So the biggest innovation that takes place is through mindset shifts and understanding that you have the answers already there within you.
Some may ask, well what’s the point in having a coach if I have the answers already and this is a fair question.
It’s knowing how to be creative in how to find those answers.
I call it “connecting the wild self.”
We were all born with this inner wild, or innate intelligence, which gives us all the guidance we need.
It’s also about knowing how to trust it and take action on this.
What’s unique about your coaching approach?
A tough question to answer as every coach is great in their own way and I wouldn’t say my approach is greatly unique.
What’s most important is that the connection is there and the trust is there.
The biggest tool I use is Emotional Intelligence in a holistic form of coaching.
If I were to pinpoint a few things:
I work very intuitively.
Even though I have an amazing framework which helps men master their emotions, empower their authentic self, enhance their communication and cultivate fulfilling relationships, I work very intuitively.
What this means is I use guided meditations on the spot if necessary to connect deeper with self, certain breathworks, and I use what my clients have in their everyday life and situation as an opportunity.
“See that crack in the wall from a different angle and perspective, what is it telling you?”
Finally, I love nature, and so I like to use nature as a big teacher in my coaching.
What benefits do your clients get after working with you?
The benefits my clients have after working with me are:
More clarity on their direction.
A balance in their life that allows them to be effective in all areas of their lives.
A deep sense of calmness and reconnection with their inner selves and purpose.
Fulfillment and rediscovery of inner drive.
Understand and master their emotions.
Have learnt how to express authentically and assertively.
Better relationships with self, partner, family, and friends.
Be in the present and have deep self love.
Do you use any specific tools to be efficient with your clients?
I use a combination of the following:
NLP
Guided meditations
Holistic approach
Emotional Intelligence: Emotional mapping and Self regulation
INTUITION
The Impact:
If you had a super megaphone that, when you speak into, the whole world will hear your message, what would you say?
“I see you, I hear you and I love you.”
“You have a story, no matter how big or small you may feel it is, it’s an important story. Connect with it, feel it and then express it!”
What is the greatest lesson you have learned in your life?
Love yourself, forgive yourself, lead from integrity, and take responsibility on that.
Your final thoughts?
Wow this has been an amazing interview.
Thank you for this opportunity.
“You have a story, no matter how big or small you may feel it is, it’s an important story. Connect with it, feel it and then express it!”
And if you want someone to listen more specifically with some support, I am here for you, let’s have a conversation.
I want to thank all of your audience as well for allowing this to take place.
Without your readers, there is no platform for this interview to take place.
It was nice to relive all of that again and feel the learnings and growth I have gone through to get where I am today.
I am curious to hear what your story is!
Connect the wild self!!

Her transformation, forged during the 2022 pandemic, led her to embrace coaching, with a unique approach grounded in the “Incredible You” methodology based on the Enneagram model of personality.
She cares deeply about each of her clients. Her coaching is pretty unique. It’s marked by a focus on self awareness and emotional intelligence. Through journal activities, reflective practices, and a systematic online portal, she guides individuals to a profound mind shift, fostering confidence, groundedness, and a mindful approach to language and life. Here is what she said.
Meet Life Coach Naureen Athar:

How they can help: By using evaluation tests and questionnaries to determine their core personality bluepring, and also by using various coaching tools and techniques like journaling.
First of all, how are you and your family doing after these Pandemic times?
I have never felt better in my life than now.
Wonderful changing times we are living in.
Pandemic were uncertain times.
Fear gripped everyone.
The world shifted online.
I was not working then.
My children were happy since there were no exams.
How did the coronavirus pandemic affect your clients? Did it affect you at all?
The pandemic affected me and my family.
At that time, I was not a coach, only a student of psychology.
Classes all stopped for a few months and when they started we used to wear masks.
I remember there were 2 strong waves of the virus where me and my family members became sick.
But as we came out of it we were stronger than before.
What are the biggest lessons that you learned in this pandemic?
Looking for alternative solutions which are natural are an absolute essential in life.
Although I became health conscious when I developed Psoriasis on my feet 5 years before the Coronavirus hit.
The virus only reinforced my belief that healthy food consumption with love therapy are the only ways to real health.
The Origin:
Tell us about you, your career, how you started with your coaching career?
I am a Pakistani who was born in Abu Dhabi, UAE and raised up there.
I came to Karachi, Pakistan to further my undergraduate degree in engineering.
But later I shifted to the field of education.
I worked as a Mathematics teacher teaching O level students appearing for IGCSE in a private school for 6 years.
Many personalities related questions I had then that lead me on a path to study works of L. Ron Hubbard, Carl Rogers, Eric Berne and Fritz Perl.
I became a life coach after the pandemics in 2022.
It has been 6 months now that I have been certified from the Arfeen Khan university for coaches.
I am currently pursuing a diploma in counselling in psychotherapy from CPCAB, UK.
What was your biggest obstacle that you had to overcome in your life that made you who you are today?
My anger was the single biggest hurdle in my life.
It shows in us in many forms: regrets, frustrations, outbursts, procrastination, reactions, grief, anxieties, overwhelm.
Anger was the biggest hurdle I had in my self growth.
I was constantly retroflexed but learning to let go, healed me.
It is a journey I am still on but now I am able to manifest my life gradually according to how I want it.
I always felt rejected as I grew up.
As a girl my brother was valued.
I somehow thought I can do all the things a boy can do and hence became an engineer.
I did not know my real passion laid in helping turning people around.
As I grew up I had developed a deep mistrust of the word love.
Retroflexed and self sabotaging I slowly developed self love for myself.
Changing my inner berating voice to an admirer’s voice I was able to understand my destructive patterns and consciously change them.
I have come to the realization that love is a conscious choice we make with every breath we take whether it is thoughts we are thinking or feelings we are feeling or how we are behaving to maintain connection, love is a conscious choice every single breath.
The Coaching Style:
How do you innovate with coaching your clients?
I coach clients to develop personality awareness and help them discover their unique patterns so that they are able to consciously change them.
And then we work on achieving one short term goal together.
Clients not only become aware of their personality and at which energy level they are functioning but they also discover their baselines, their negative coding and their unique success blueprint.
All this is done in a 3 month program via an online portal which clients gain access to once they join the program.
Two hours on a clear Sunday morning is all they need to invest in terms of time.
What’s unique about your coaching approach?
The coaching approach I employ has been developed by Coach Arfeen Khan by the name of “Incredible You” and is truly unique because it is based on the Enneagram model of personality.
We ask our clients a quick 154 questions with 2 possible answer choices to determine their unique personality.
By reading the 20 page report that is generated by our system clients are also able to determine at which energy level (very good, good, average, below average, destructive) they are operating.
Next, they discover their wing of personality, meaning which out of the 2 personalities beside their main personality do they lean towards.
And finally, their unique mood.
All this gives us a unique combination of 108 personality types.
Other coaching approaches focus on only goal achievement but we focus on self awareness which is the foundation of emotional intelligence fostering change and confidence.
What benefits do your clients get after working with you?
They find themselves more grounded and confident.
They are motivated to achieve what they always wanted to achieve.
After understanding themselves, clueless clients are also able to understand what they really want or what suits them because we take everything through their baselines, which is their core identity.
They are mindful of the language they use.
The most profound thing to witness is their mindshift in these 3 months.
Do you use any specific tools to be efficient with your clients?
Journal activities are asked to be filled every week.
A reflective journal is maintained also throughout our journey.
Online portal plays videos of Arfeen Khan instructing himself.
A very systematic online portal makes the whole process seamless.
The Impact:
If you had a super megaphone that, when you speak into, the whole world will hear your message, what would you say?
Stop fighting!
Stop resisting!
Let go!
Love! Choose love every single breath!
What is the greatest lesson you have learned in your life?
“No one is to blame, I was standing in my own way” and “Love is a choice.”
Your final thoughts?
Coaching and therapy are my life now.
It’s a journey of real healing that I would want every person to embark on, it is now my life’s mission.
