As we approach the holiday season, there will be countless opportunities to exercise the tools in our personal arsenal for thriving instead of surviving.

Part of our growth and development as a human is in how we respond to situations, people, and circumstances.

For some, the holidays are sugar and spice and everything nice. If you are like most people, they are stressful, filled with over commitments, a history of unpleasant experiences and emotions, and many opportunities to be triggered.

How often do we feel obligated to attend events that we are not interested in attending? Do we do this out of guilt, shame, or feelings of missing out (FOMO)? Or is it challenging for us to say no?

Here are my 3 favorite personal tools to ensure that I have a great holiday season.

1. Step into your power.

I am a firm believer about checking in with myself on any situation and invitation I am offered.

Am I feeling like going or am I not feeling like it? Am I leaning into this our repelling against it?

Our feelings are our barometer, that inner guidance that leads us if we choose to listen and follow its wisdom.

All invitations are just that, opportunities to participate.

Sometimes we make more out of this than is necessary.

2. Say Yes if you mean it.

Give yourself permission to say “no” as well.

I personally do not commit to things if I am not feeling 100% like going.

Sometimes by not going, I am giving myself the gift of self care.

By doing this you are also allowing yourself to be led by your intuition and train trusting your intuition.

3. Walk away from triggers.

If you do attend events, particularly ones that are a mine field of triggers, I invite you to choose your battles wisely.

Sometimes it is an act of self care to not respond and remove yourself from a situation that can trigger you.

It is not done so out of fear. It is done for the safety of energetic being, self love, as well as your peace of mind, and wellness.

What You Should Remember?

You always have choices in any situation. You can choose to participate or not to.

You have a choice in how you respond as well… is it loving and generated from your heart and responsive or is it reactive coming from your mind and ego.

How are you going to respond? In your response, lies your power.
