Grounding yourself is a way of connecting yourself to Mother Earth, to keep rooted in your being as well as to the essence of who you are. It’s a way of being centered in yourself including the physical, mental, and emotional space you are currently in.
Regardless of where you are, you can stay grounded as long as you remain centered and rooted to the ground. However, there are times when feelings of confusion, chaos, or being lost conquer you.
These things are inevitable since you don’t control everything that happens to your life. When this occurs, you don’t need to be afraid for groping in the dark.
You can realign yourself by grounding your energies back.
Easy Techniques You Can Try To Ground Your Energy:
1. Spend time in nature.
The trees, plants, and flowers are rooted deeply to mother Earth. Spending some time in this nature reconnects your energy and leads you back to your center and the environment.
As you walk in nature, try to feel the weight of your feet as they touch the ground. Thich Nhat Hahn puts it beautifully:
“Walk as if you are kissing the earth with your feet.”
Nothing could be as amazing as feeling the energy of the earth under your feet. While walking, take a few, deep mindful breaths as you imagine your feet sinking deeper into the earth and taking roots.
Use all your senses: smell the freshness of the air, listen to the chirping of the birds, and appreciate the tranquil blue sky.
Doing this practice for 5-30 minutes a day will not only reenergize you but gives you a sense of deeper calm too.
2. Use meditation for grounding your energy.
This is a simple technique you can do while sitting on the ground. Be sure that you are a bit far from anything that may distract you.
Make yourself as comfortable as you can as you sit on the ground. Close your eyes and begin to imagine your body sinking into the ground under you.
Feel the earth supporting you and visualize roots coming out of your body reaching into the ground. See your roots being nourished by the earth.
Breathe deeply and feel a deeper sense of connection to the earth. After visualizing your roots moving into the ground, take a few deep breaths then open your eyes.
3. Walk on the grass with your bare feet.
Walking barefoot or earthing is a great way of grounding yourself. It’s a must do exercise you need, especially when you have been sitting around technology for a longer period.
Taking a 5 to 10 minute walk on the grass instantly gives yourself a boost while stabilizing your energy.
