Meet Life Coach June Sterling:

Name: June Sterling

Pillar: The Spirit, The Mind

Who is this coach for: Anyone who wants to create that inner safety that will allow them to move forward in life while taking care of themselves.

How they can help: By using various tools and techniques, but most impotrantly, Listening.

First of all, how are you and your family doing after these Pandemic times?

Thank you for inquiring.

Myself and my family are doing well.

How did the coronavirus pandemic affect your clients? Did it affect you at all?

Yes, it did.

Like the collective, “us”, and what I will be sharing in next week’s Newsletter… my client’s describe in a variety of ways what I have come to define as a loss of sparkle, an inertia, a disconnect.

What are the biggest lessons that you learned in this pandemic?

The biggest lesson I learned from the pandemic is what we knew already (in theory) that yes, life can change on a dime such that our best laid plans and dreams can be disrupted and even dismantled in a flash.

It sounds a bit cliché and maybe a bit haughty, but for me…

“The Lesson”: learning to intentionally build the best version of myself, physically, mentally and emotionally so that I can confidently (and fearlessly) navigate any changes in the external world and, with that… be able find the hidden lessons, the treasures and the opportunities that emerge, as a result.

The Origin:

Tell us about you, your career, how you started with your coaching career?

I would say… my informal coaching career began many years ago when I recognized the struggle and loneliness that lived inside my own family.

Back in the day, acknowledging and getting help was so laden with stigma and shame that most people lived through incredible windows of stress, sadness and loss… such that I recognized very early the value of having someone to trust and share disappointment, heartache and loneliness.

I found I could be that trustable person in many settings and with many people while withholding judgement and just allowing the free flow of thoughts into words and with that, a healing that opened the door for communication from a place of gentleness, genuine interest, and strength.

Later, as a member of many diverse teams and specialty areas inside of multiple health care settings, coaching in the form of offering emotional support and care was a valued role that was very much my particular area of interest and passion that I feel certain was felt and experienced by many patients I worked with.

Around 5 years ago, just by way of an accident on purpose, I landed with Eben Pagan who was, at the time, introducing online professional and personal development programs.

From one program to the next, he projected a style that was direct, clear and concise along with material that was innovative and accessible for anyone in pursuit of that next level awareness and growth.

Through Eben, I would go on to meet and share space with many coaches throughout the world, including, and most especially his wife, Annie Lalla.

I joined their Virtual Coach program where myself and 30+ others learned and grew in the company of the Virtual Coach Team, and each other as coach and coachee throughout the year of the pandemic.

I have remained inside of the coaching world since building skills, rapport and friendships with the finest across the globe in many specialized areas including Women’s Coaching and Heart and Relationship Coaching.

Beyond that, I have been in many diverse settings with business and entrepreneurial related coaches where I have been privy to elite coaches in the area of the Business Development and Leadership Skills inside of organizations and teams.

What was your biggest obstacle that you had to overcome in your life that made you who you are today?

The early loss of a parent.

The Coaching Style:

How do you innovate with coaching your clients?

The Innovation that lives within my coaching style and process is very much linked to the natural unfurling of another human being when honored, respected and witnessed inside of a trustable private and confidential setting.

Underlying… is an unshakable belief in the process of creating a safe place where one can experience and feel the freedom to explore and discover some aspect of their relationship with self, with another or some yet to be defined area of their life that has yet to be named.

What’s unique about your coaching approach?

I don’t know that it is unique, but it is something that I felt I brought to my sessions as a nurse, as an educator, as a nurse practitioner and now as a Coach… and that is, a full awareness of the dignity of every human being.

And touching their soul and their sadness, their sense of “not good enough” and their sense of “unworthy” with a gentleness and strength that is safe, confident and loving.

What benefits do your clients get after working with you?

A sense of being able to create an internal safety that allays some of the anxiety associated with extended periods of aloneness.

And secondly, the ability to take action via small steps in the direction of creating daily rituals that lead to being more proactive around reaching out and reconnecting with family and friends.

And, thirdly, taking on self care in a more intentional way that has led to increase in energy levels and improved sleeping patterns.

Do you use any specific tools to be efficient with your clients?

Honestly, I have gleaned and gathered many tools along the way from every wonderful, highest level Coach who has patiently and kindly stood for me and for my personal growth as a Coach (capital C) and who has shared generously and graciously so that I might, in the best right moment… be a source of inspiration or discovery for my client.

However, the one specific tool I continue to value above the others and continue to hone to a level of excellence is Listening.

Listening with a desire to truly understand and with that, the ability to follow up and ask a powerful question that will best serve my client and be another step closer to the clarity and the vision they so desire.

The Impact:

If you had a super megaphone that, when you speak into, the whole world will hear your message, what would you say?

This is not to exclude men in any way, but it would be a shout out to every woman on the planet to say… particularly in this era with so much focus on the unique style, power, and influence of women… on the days we have witnessed (and continue to) the pointed, focused travesties, injustices and physical, emotional and sexual violence (in all of its forms) directed at women from government nations, (and directly and indirectly, to their children) every woman should be standing tall, strong, together, unflinching, unrelenting and shouting… No More!

A call out to both sides and to all sides, to every side… we take no sides… except for the side of any woman mercilessly beaten, maimed, starved, killed and raped… we will tolerate that no more!

What is the greatest lesson you have learned in your life?

With each day comes new opportunities to start over and to learn.

Your final thoughts?

Thank-you for your interest.

Your questions generated so many interesting thoughts.

It’s ever changing.

This is out of our control.

The key is to learn to adapt, ride the waves.. if not, we can get stuck.

How did the coronavirus pandemic affect your clients? Did it affect you at all?

The pandemic did effect my clients where they had to learn self care, and how to manage being confined at home.

They were under a lot of stress.

This is when my business took off.

People were forced to see things in a different way, and find ways to navigate.

For me, the pandemic was a major turning point in my life.

The lesson is to learn to be ok with being alone and discovering who you truly are and what is important in your life.

That this is where the real growth comes from.

Self reflection allows us to recognize the patterns in our life and gain clarity on what we truly want.

Building this connection to self and your higher power is where the real peace, power and joy resides.

Within.

I would say the most challenging is self acceptance.

Being able to overcome past mistakes and not allow it to hold you back, recognizing life is about learning lessons and our personal evolution.

When we do the inner work we realize that our choices in life are based off earlier influences in our lives and we can become greater versions of ourselves from understanding.

My clients are able to set boundaries for themselves.

They learn to honor their well being by making choices that are best for them.

This enforces self love which allows them to become more confident and empowered in their life.

They learn self acceptance, how to handle life’s challenges and are able to navigate through their life with more ease and joy, becoming their highest self.

Do you use any specific tools to be efficient with your clients?

I use a variety of tools depending on the client and their particular situation and personal goals.

I use different worksheets that help them to process, organize, and also to manifest what they desire.

I’m a big on journaling and affirmations, and daily routines.

And I am also an advocate for daily practices including meditation and various mindfulness techniques.

If you had a super megaphone that, when you speak into, the whole world will hear your message, what would you say?

That anyone is capable of overcoming life’s most difficult challenges.

You create your life with your thoughts, words and actions.

Find the right support, coach, community, it’s extremely difficult to do it alone.

What is the greatest lesson you have learned in your life?

Listen to your intuition.

Plain and simple.

We can’t change anyone, or change the world.

We can only concentrate on what we have the most control of, and that is ourselves.

Integrating Holistic Practices Into Traditional Addiction Treatment and What You Need to Know…

Have you ever wondered why overcoming addiction often feels like battling more than just physical cravings?

It’s because true recovery touches upon every aspect of an individual’s being, heart, body, mind, and spirit.

Traditional addiction treatment has made leaps and bounds in offering medical and psychological support.

However, there’s a growing consensus that integrating holistic practices into this framework might be the key to more comprehensive and personalized care.

But what does this integration look like, and why is it gaining traction?

This article delves into the synergistic potential of marrying holistic practices with conventional addiction treatment, offering a beacon of hope for those seeking a path to recovery that nourishes every part of their being.

Understanding Traditional Addiction Treatment

integrating-holistic-practices-traditional-addiction-treatment

At the heart of traditional addiction treatment are methods that have been rigorously tested and have demonstrated efficacy in helping individuals overcome substance dependence.

These methods can be broadly categorized into detoxification, Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT), and behavioral therapies.

Detox

Detoxification serves as the initial step, aiming to rid the body of substances in a safe and controlled environment.

This process can be challenging and, at times, life threatening, underscoring the necessity of medical supervision.

Following detox, Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) comes into play for some.

Medication Assisted Treatment

MAT involves the use of medications, in combination with counseling and behavioral therapies, to treat substance use disorders.

Medications like methadone, buprenorphine, and naltrexone are commonly used to manage cravings and withdrawal symptoms, providing a stable platform from which individuals can engage in therapy.

Behavioral therapies

Behavioral therapies, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and contingency management, focus on modifying the patient’s behavior and attitudes related to substance use.

They aim to enhance coping mechanisms for dealing with stress and triggers.

These therapies are crucial, as addiction is not only a physical but also a psychological battle.

The Limitations of Traditional Approaches

Despite the effectiveness of these traditional approaches, they often focus primarily on the physical and psychological facets of addiction, leaving a gap that holistic practices are perfectly poised to fill.

Holistic approaches emphasize the interconnectedness of the body, mind, spirit, and heart, offering therapies that complement traditional treatments by addressing all aspects of an individual’s well being.

The limitations of traditional methods lie not in their efficacy but in their scope.

For instance, while MAT can significantly reduce the physical cravings for substances, it doesn’t inherently address the emotional or spiritual voids that many individuals in recovery experience.

Similarly, behavioral therapies, while effective in changing thought patterns and behaviors, may not fully engage the individual’s spiritual or holistic health needs, areas where holistic practices excel.

The question then arises:

If traditional treatment lays a solid foundation for recovery, could the integration of holistic practices elevate the entire structure, offering a more rounded and resilient approach to overcoming addiction?

The following sections explore this possibility, highlighting the benefits of holistic practices and the potential for their integration into traditional treatment plans.

Exploring Holistic Practices

Holistic practices in addiction treatment embody the principle that healing should encompass the entire person: mind, body, spirit, and heart.

This blog post acknowledges that addiction’s roots often delve deep into physical health, emotional turmoil, mental fog, and spiritual disconnection.

By addressing these areas concurrently, holistic practices offer a rounded pathway to recovery, complementing the more traditional medical and psychological interventions.

Below, we explore these practices in more detail, highlighting their unique contributions and the scientific backing for their effectiveness in treating addiction.

Meditation and Mindfulness:

The practice of meditation and mindfulness brings individuals into a state of present awareness, distancing them from past regrets and future anxieties, common triggers for substance use.

Through techniques like focused attention or open monitoring meditation, individuals learn to observe their thoughts and feelings without judgment, reducing the impulse to escape substance use.

Mindfulness based relapse prevention, a specialized form that combines mindfulness practices with traditional relapse prevention techniques, has shown promising results in reducing the risk of relapse.

The neurobiological changes brought about by regular meditation, such as increased gray matter density in areas of the brain associated with self control, emotion regulation, and attention, further underscore its therapeutic potential.

Yoga:

More than physical exercise, yoga is a holistic discipline that integrates body posture, breathing exercises (pranayama), and meditation to foster physical and mental well being.

The physical aspect of yoga enhances flexibility, strength, and detoxification, which is beneficial for the body’s recovery from substance abuse.

Simultaneously, the meditative and breathing practices enhance mental clarity and emotional stability, key factors in maintaining sobriety.

Studies have found yoga to significantly improve psychological states, reducing symptoms of anxiety, depression, and stress among individuals recovering from addiction.

Acupuncture:

Rooted in traditional Chinese medicine, acupuncture’s application in addiction treatment is based on its ability to restore balance to the body’s energy flow and enhance overall well being.

By stimulating specific points in the body, acupuncture aims to alleviate withdrawal symptoms, diminish cravings, and promote emotional equilibrium.

Research supports its use as a complementary therapy, with findings indicating that acupuncture can ease the discomfort of withdrawal and may improve outcomes when used alongside conventional treatments.

Nutritional Therapy:

Chronic substance abuse often results in profound nutritional deficiencies, affecting the body’s healing process and mood regulation.

Nutritional therapy focuses on rebuilding the body through a balanced diet rich in vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants, which can help repair damage caused by substance use.

Adequate nutrition supports brain health, reduces cravings, and stabilizes mood, thereby playing a crucial role in recovery.

Emerging research highlights the impact of specific nutrients on brain recovery, emphasizing the importance of a holistic dietary approach in the treatment of addiction.

Art and Music Therapy:

These expressive therapies offer powerful channels for communication, emotional expression, and stress relief without reliance on verbal interaction.

Through creating art or engaging with music, individuals can explore their feelings, develop self awareness, and process traumas that may be contributing to their addiction.

The non judgmental nature of these therapies fosters a sense of accomplishment and self worth.

Evidence suggests that art and music therapy can significantly reduce depression and anxiety levels while enhancing social functioning and self esteem among those recovering from addiction.

By embracing holistic practices, addiction treatment can evolve into a more inclusive, compassionate, and person centered approach.

This evolution promises to enrich the recovery journey, offering pathways to healing that are as diverse and multifaceted as the individuals seeking help.

The Integration of Holistic Practices into Traditional Treatment

How-to-Integrate-Holistic-Practices-Into-Traditional-Addiction-Treatment

The holistic integration of traditional addiction treatment paradigms marks a pivotal evolution in how we approach recovery, fostering a healing environment that acknowledges the multifaceted nature of addiction.

This nuanced approach bridges the gap between conventional medical treatments and the broader spectrum of individual wellness.

Below, we further explore the benefits of this integration and the methodologies that facilitate a seamless incorporation of holistic practices into traditional treatment frameworks.

Enhanced Stress Management:

Stress is a significant trigger for relapse in individuals recovering from addiction.

Integrating holistic practices such as meditation and yoga into treatment plans offers robust mechanisms for stress management that extend beyond traditional coping strategies.

These practices teach individuals how to attain a state of calm and balance through breath control, physical postures, and mindful meditation, empowering them with the skills to navigate stressful situations without resorting to substance use.

The adoption of these practices leads to improved stress resilience, a key factor in maintaining long term sobriety.

Additionally, mindfulness based stress reduction (MBSR) programs have been shown to significantly decrease stress levels and enhance emotional regulation, further supporting their integration into addiction recovery programs.

Improved Physical Health:

The toll that addiction takes on the body is well documented, with substance abuse often leading to deteriorated physical health due to neglect, poor nutrition, and the direct effects of substances.

Incorporating holistic practices such as nutritional therapy and physical activities into recovery programs addresses these physical health issues head on.

A diet tailored to the individual’s specific needs can replenish nutrient deficiencies, boost the immune system, and enhance energy levels, significantly impacting the overall recovery process.

Physical activities, including yoga and tai chi, not only improve physical strength and flexibility but also promote the release of endorphins, natural mood elevators that can help combat the depression and anxiety often associated with recovery.

Emotional and Spiritual Healing:

Addiction recovery is as much about healing the spirit and emotions as it is about addressing the physical dependency.

Holistic practices offer pathways to address the emotional and spiritual dimensions of recovery, which are often overlooked in traditional treatment settings.

Practices such as art and music therapy provide outlets for emotional expression and exploration, facilitating the processing of trauma and negative emotions in a constructive and supportive environment.

Spiritual practices, including meditation and mindfulness, can foster a sense of connection to something greater than oneself, offering purpose and meaning in the recovery journey.

This emotional and spiritual nourishment is crucial for filling the voids that substances once occupied, promoting a more fulfilling and sustainable recovery.

Creating a Tailored, Integrated Approach:

The successful integration of holistic practices into traditional addiction treatment requires a personalized approach that considers the unique needs and preferences of each individual.

This bespoke integration involves collaboration among a multidisciplinary team of healthcare providers, including doctors, psychologists, nutritionists, and holistic practitioners.

Together, they develop a comprehensive treatment plan that aligns with the individual’s specific recovery goals, cultural background, and personal beliefs.

Regular assessments and open communication ensure that the plan remains responsive to the individual’s evolving needs throughout their recovery journey.

Practical Steps for Incorporation

The integration of these practices acknowledges the complexity of addiction and the diversity of human experience, offering a more compassionate, comprehensive, and effective pathway to healing and long term wellness.

Here are some practical steps…

Assessment and Personalization:

The initial step involves a comprehensive, multidimensional assessment that goes beyond the surface level of substance use to explore underlying mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual factors contributing to the addiction.

This assessment should be thorough, involving interviews, questionnaires, and consultations with a multidisciplinary team.

The goal is to understand the individual’s holistic health status, including any co occurring mental health conditions, physical health issues, nutritional deficiencies, and spiritual or existential crises.

Based on this assessment, a personalized treatment plan is crafted, integrating appropriate holistic practices like mindfulness for emotional regulation, yoga for stress relief and physical well being, and nutritional counseling to address health deficits.

This tailored approach ensures that the holistic practices are not just added on but are an integral part of the recovery process, resonating with the individual’s unique journey and needs.

Professional Integration:

A key factor in the seamless integration of holistic practices into traditional addiction treatment is the collaboration between professionals from diverse therapeutic backgrounds.

This integration requires a team approach where psychiatrists, psychologists, addiction counselors, holistic therapists (yoga instructors, acupuncturists, nutritionists, etc.), and medical doctors work together in harmony.

Training and workshops can help these professionals understand the value each discipline brings, how they can complement each other, and the best practices for collaborative care.

Regular team meetings and shared treatment planning sessions ensure that all team members are aligned with the treatment goals and understand the role of each modality in the recovery process.

Continuous Evaluation:

The effectiveness of an integrated treatment plan must be continually assessed and refined.

This ongoing evaluation involves not just tracking progress toward recovery goals but also monitoring the individual’s engagement with and response to holistic practices.

Feedback from the individual and their family, observations from the treatment team, and objective measures of physical and emotional health are all crucial components of this evaluation.

Adjustments to the treatment plan may involve introducing new holistic practices, modifying existing ones, or reevaluating the balance between traditional and holistic therapies.

This adaptive approach ensures that the treatment remains responsive to the individual’s changing needs and circumstances, optimizing the recovery journey.

What You Should Remember?

The integration of holistic practices into traditional addiction treatment heralds a more inclusive, compassionate, and effective approach to recovery.

By addressing the multifaceted nature of addiction, this integrated approach offers hope and healing to those embarking on the journey toward recovery.

As we move forward, the synergy between these practices promises not only to enhance outcomes but to transform the very landscape of addiction treatment.

So, How Does Alcohol Affect Your Brain?

Alcohol interferes with the brain’s communication pathways and can affect the way the brain appears and functions.

Alcohol makes it harder for the areas controlling balance, memory, speech, and judgment to do their jobs, resulting in a higher likelihood of injuries and other negative outcomes.

Long term heavy drinking causes alterations in the neurons, such as reductions in their size.

Below are a few key topics related to alcohol and how the brain is impacted by its effects.

If you or a loved one is suffering through alcohol addiction, seek medical advice from your primary care physician.

Treating severe cases of alcoholism can be dangerous and often requires medical supervision; please consider visiting an inpatient alcohol rehab program.

Understanding Alcohol’s Journey Through the Brain

how-alcohol-affect-brain

For healthy adults, a moderate amount of alcohol typically means no more than one drink per day for women and up to two drinks per day for men.

While drinking in moderation might have certain benefits, overdoing it or binge drinking brings no health advantages at all.

Alcohol acts as a neurotoxin that interferes with the brain’s communication pathways.

It can alter the operations of neurons which may result in intellectual decline, headaches, loss of memory, slow thinking, difficulty speaking, issues maintaining balance, and coordination.

Excessive alcohol use can harm your nervous system leading to numbness, pain in hands and feet, seizures, even dementia.

Alcohol’s Impact on Neurotransmitter Function and Mental Health

Indeed, there’s a link between alcohol consumption and memory loss.

The more prolonged and excessive the alcohol abuse is, the greater the chance of experiencing some form of memory impairment.

Intense levels of drinking can lead to significant and long lasting memory issues.

This may involve struggling to recall events from just the previous night or even an entire evening’s happenings.

Prolonged heavy drinking might also result in dementia, which entails irreversible memory loss.

Alcohol interferes with how your brain processes information from short term to long term storage, hence your long term memory doesn’t get the memo about what happened.

This missing out is among the numerous impacts that alcohol has on one’s ability to remember.

Certainly stopping alcohol intake can enhance your memory but don’t expect instant fixes.

It takes time, similar to how damage wasn’t done in a single night of drinking, it won’t be undone with just one sober night.

Recovery could span from six months up to a year before notable improvements in your memory start showing up.

Alcohol’s Effects on Brain Plasticity and Cognitive Function

You might think of alcohol as a way to cope with tough emotions like sadness, stress, or anxiety.

The idea of reducing your alcohol intake or quitting altogether could be daunting.

However, using alcohol as a crutch for mental health issues can lead to further problems.

Alcohol acts as a depressant and messes with the neurotransmitters in your brain that are responsible for how you feel, think, and act.

This disruption can have significant effects on your mood.

When you drink alcohol, it impacts the part of your brain responsible for inhibitions, initially making you feel more relaxed and confident.

Yet this feeling is fleeting.

Soon after drinking, the changes in brain chemistry may cause negative emotions like anger or anxiety to surface, regardless of how you felt before drinking.

Over time heavy use of alcohol depletes important neurotransmitters that help keep depression and anxiety at bay resulting in an increased desire to drink more often in order to ease these feelings.

This cycle, for many, has ultimately led to addiction.

Alcohol Induced Changes in Brain Structure and Volume

Regular heavy drinking over many years can increase the likelihood of alcohol related brain damage.

The gradual loss of cognitive abilities depends on both the amount and duration of alcohol consumption.

However, significant brain damage can also happen quickly if a person engages in excessive drinking combined with poor nutrition, known as binge or heavy episodic drinking.

Combining alcohol with illegal drugs or certain prescription medications can lead to severe brain health issues.

Alcohol’s Influence on Sleep Patterns and Brainwave Activity

Many individuals turn to alcohol as a way to help them sleep.

While it might seem beneficial initially, consuming alcohol before heading to bed often leads to a night filled with poor and interrupted sleep.

Aristidis Iatridis, M.D., a specialist in pulmonology and sleep medicine at Piedmont explains that there’s evidence suggesting alcohol interferes with how your brain releases melatonin.

“Melatonin is what your brain produces when it’s time for you to sleep. So, those who consume alcohol usually experience fragmented sleep and don’t get the rest they need; waking up feeling less refreshed,” he mentions.

One of the major issues caused by drinking is insomnia.

Alcohol’s Role in Aging and Cognitive Decline

In a study that looked at 19,887 people from the Health and Retirement Study over an average of 9.1 years, it turns out that folks who drink a little bit but not too much tend to keep their smarts about them better than those who don’t drink at all.

Specifically, they had higher scores in mental sharpness, remembering words, and having larger vocabularies, and these skills didn’t drop off as quickly either.

Drinking just a small to moderate amount seems to help protect your thinking powers according to overall scores and in tests on mental condition, word memory and vocab abilities.

What You Should Remember?

In the short term you might feel more relaxed and less shy due to moderate drinking but remember alcohol essentially depresses your system.

Too much drinking raises chances of falling into depression, feeling anxious, getting irritable, experiencing sudden changes in mood, facing troubles in relationships, and, of course, making poor decisions.

For those dealing with anxiety, turning to alcohol’s brief calming effect might seem appealing but this relief is short lived If dependence on alcohol’s temporary reprieve becomes habitual as it may escalate into an addiction.

Seek medical and professional help if alcohol is impacting your life, whether it’s your personal issues you’re battling or those of a loved one.

It’s okay to seek help and consider how changing your relationship with alcohol could benefit you.

First of all, how are you and your family doing after these Pandemic times?

Thank you for asking, Dejan.

Fortunately, we are all doing well and in good health.

How did the coronavirus pandemic affect your clients? Did it affect you at all?

In the early days of the pandemic, many people experienced feelings of fear, isolation, and denial.

I felt the same emotions but chose to stay strong and push forward for my family and clients.

My leadership ultimately helped me connect with my clients.

The challenge was to help them stay focused and motivated with kids at home and limited privacy.

My empathy, shared experiences, and business sustainability were paramount to my client’s trust in me and my coaching program.

What are the biggest lessons that you learned in this pandemic?

I learned resilience and the ability to manage my emotions, finances, and mindset are crucial for growth and success.

The Origin:

Tell us about you, your career, how you started with your coaching career?

In 2004, I founded One Vision Productions, a media production and branding agency.

Over the years, we have provided consultation and services to small businesses, government agencies, and multi million to billion dollar corporations.

After a decade of running the agency, I became a certified business mentor for SCORE, a resource partner with the Small Business Administration (SBA).

During my seven year tenure with the organization, I taught workshops and mentored thousands of entrepreneurs.

In 2017, I embarked on my coaching journey, receiving certifications in various coaching disciplines.

Today, I am a Certified Master Life Coach that empowers individuals and organizations to maximize their full potential.

What was your biggest obstacle that you had to overcome in your life that made you who you are today?

After a career ending sports injury in college, my tunnel vision and lack of preparation other than basketball led me to experience many hardships in the job market.

Eventually, the resilience and determination I learned as an athlete helped me while pursuing new goals in life.

This particular life lesson played a significant role in shaping the man that I am today.

The Coaching Style:

How do you innovate with coaching your clients?

I created the Mentally Tuff™, a 4 step innovative framework to inspire confidence and help my clients move forward and win consistently.

It employs various tools and frameworks prioritizing agility, creativity, planning, and decisiveness to equip you with specific tools for success.

First, I establish a safe and confidential environment with mutually agreed upon parameters for our meeting sessions (following an initial consultation).

Second, we discuss expectations and establish clear goals for communication and progress.

Third, I ask my clients thought provoking questions to understand the reasons behind their actions and motivations.

With the Mentally Tuff™ methodology, you’ll gain the skills and confidence necessary to take your life to the next level.

What’s unique about your coaching approach?

I prioritize my client’s journey and results equally.

While setting goals is sometimes necessary, there are times when clients need a listening ear.

To help my clients achieve long term success, I use my Mentally Tuff™ methodology, which is tailored to each client, providing a comprehensive plan for personal growth.

My coaching approach is similar to that of a Physical Therapist, providing tools that can be used even after our sessions have ended.

What benefits do your clients get after working with you?

I have a reputation for getting results!

Many of my clients have expressed their appreciation for working with a coach who focuses on the journey towards achieving outcomes.

As a supportive accountability partner, active listener, and unbiased confidant, I have helped numerous individuals achieve breakthroughs in their personal and professional lives.

My life experiences have equipped me with the skills to connect with my clients on a deeper level.

Do you use any specific tools to be efficient with your clients?

My most impactful tools are my coaching training and personal journey of failures and successes.

Having gone from experiencing homelessness to becoming an award winning author, businessman, film producer, and professional speaker, I know firsthand the impact that real life can have.

By integrating these experiences into my practice, I effectively support my clients in achieving sustainable growth and transformation.

The Impact:

If you had a super megaphone that, when you speak into, the whole world will hear your message, what would you say?

Be kind, respectful, and forgiving.

Laugh often and be responsible.

What is the greatest lesson you have learned in your life?

Life and time are the most valuable gifts we possess.

Once they slip away, you can’t get them back.

I often ask my clients, ‘Would you rather receive a billion dollars today and not wake up tomorrow, or wake up tomorrow with just one dollar?’

Which option would you choose?

Your final thoughts?

I invite anyone seeking meaningful change to contact me.

Our journey may begin with fear, failure, and uncertainty but will conclude with confidence, success, and purpose.

I am eager to help you discover your true self.

Find Life Coach | Meet Fiora Touliatou: How to Transform Yourself and Live a Life That You Love to Live?

Fiora Touliatou is one of the coaches that we found this month and we did a little interview with her. She impressed us with her expertise and her large toolbox of holistic practices.

Her journey from holistic therapist to fitness instructor, and eventually, a catalyst for personal growth and empowerment, spans over 17 years of introspection and evolution. Listening keenly to the narratives of clients navigating through life’s challenges, she found herself bound by limitations, eager to extend a helping hand beyond the constraints of conventional therapy.

She discovered her resilience amidst rebellion toward limited mindsets, forging a unique path toward self discovery and enlightenment. Today, armed with a holistic approach that harmonizes ancient wisdom with modern methodologies, she pioneers a transformative coaching style that integrates mind, body, and spirit.

Her story is one of an individual who transcended conventional boundaries to carve a path of holistic well being. Here is what she said.

Meet Life Coach Fiora Touliatou:

find-life-coach-fiora-touliatou

Name: Fiora Touliatou

Pillar: The Spirit, The Mind, The Body, The Heart

Who is this coach for: Anyone who wants to transform themselves spiritually, mentally, physically, and emotionally, and live a life they love to live.

How they can help: By using various tools and techniques like Mindfulness exercises, meditation techniques, pranayama exercises, EFT, Ayurveda and other holistic practices.

First of all, how are you and your family doing after these Pandemic times?

My family is still recovering emotionally and mentally as they were very affected in regards to what was and is still happening in society.

On a personal level, my whole life turned upside down.

However, the whole experience of the pandemic was transformational for me in all levels.

It was what the shamans call the “dark night of the soul”.

I had my lows which gave me the momentum to discover new potential and bring myself up again.

I can now say that I am doing a lot better than pre pandemic times.

How did the coronavirus pandemic affect your clients? Did it affect you at all?

I was affected financially and emotionally as the pandemic had a huge negative effect on my business.

I lost all clients and income very abruptly plus I had to use all my savings and stay in temporary accommodation.

Although I had moments of anxiety and uncertainty, that didn’t stop me from moving forward.

I used online platforms and kept myself busy by making new connections with community groups, offered free coaching, received free psychology and business coaching.

By learning to work online, I discovered new opportunities and expanded my services and clientele.

Moreover, I used the quarantines as a time to focus, start my blog, rebuild my website and improve my social media content.

The most important also was that I discovered my coaching niche, which then led to creating my coaching packages and expand my vision.

What are the biggest lessons that you learned in this pandemic?

Be more resilient and always find a way to do everything, find solutions for every problem, minimise complaining and don’t sink into a negative mood.

At the most challenging times, you can discover new ways and opportunities.

We grow when we are challenged.

As long as we are alive, we can do better and explore new ways of living.

Moreover, constantly investing into your self growth is of one of the most valuable things you can do as for building resilience in life.

The Origin:

Tell us about you, your career, how you started with your coaching career?

Initially, my career started as a holistic therapist and a fitness instructor 17 years ago.

Due to the nature of my jobs, I was always listening to my clients when they were talking about their problems and challenges.

However, not only I had limited time to talk with them, but also I was only allowed to discuss or advise them about certain topics in regards to their wellbeing.

And because of my empathetic nature, I always wanted to help more and make a greater positive impact, so I felt limited in my capabilities.

However, after my coaching training in 2018, I realised that I could help even more, which made me feel so excited.

During the first days of the pandemic, I realised my niche is holistic wellbeing which made everything make sense, as all my different activities, skills and professional training came together under the same umbrella.

Therefore, I realised I could incorporate my holistic expertise as extra tools to empower my clients in their coaching journey.

What was your biggest obstacle that you had to overcome in your life that made you who you are today?

The biggest obstacle that I had to overcome in my life was growing up in a conservative family and a narrow minded culture.

As a youngster I was questioning everything as I was feeling out of place and suffocating.

As a teenager I rebelled and my breakthrough led me to a transformation.

Since then, I constantly keep learning, exploring and evolving.

Being the black sheep is a heavy burden to carry when you are young and you still haven’t discovered who you are.

But it is also a blessing in disguise as you learn to take risks, try new ways, discover your potential, do innovative things, not having the need of approval or external validation, walk a solitary path and build resilience.

The Coaching Style:

How do you innovate with coaching your clients?

My innovation is incorporating holistic therapies and practices with the intention of living a more happy, healthy, mindful and meaningful life.

Integrating ancient knowledge into our modern lifestyle is catalytic and deepens our human experience.

I treat each client as a unique individual who may have not discovered their full potential yet.

During our coaching journey, I assist and guide them giving them the keys and then it’s up to them to unlock the different doors.

Furthermore, the tools that I teach them can be used in everyday life, not only during the coaching journey, but for a further personal growth and discovery of a new life perspective.

What’s unique about your coaching approach?

My unique approach to coaching is a holistic approach, which comes from personal inner work and experience plus professional training and expertise.

These tools and practices that I have used for personal growth and self empowerment have further helped me personally to who I am today.

So what is a holistic approach?

Let me explain in more details…

First of all, the word holistic comes from the Greek word “holos”, meaning “whole”.

So the holistic approach is that as humans we are a whole unity: mind, body, and spirit.

As we know, in order to make changes in our lives, we need to be challenged mentally by changing our habits, mindset and develop new neuropathways.

But in order to do that in a more efficient way, we need to work on the emotional and physical aspects too.

According to holistic practices (such as Ayurveda, yoga and holistic therapies), negative emotions can get stuck in our energy system and seriously cause blockages to our overall wellbeing.

By incorporating holistic practices as tools into coaching, we can unblock our energy system, accelerate our growth, ignite our potential and fulfil our purpose.

In brief, it is possible to transform yourself and your life, as long as your take responsibility, be disciplined, be consistent, and do the inner work.

What benefits do your clients get after working with you?

Generally, my clients say is that after every session they go away feeling empowered, peaceful, joyful, inspired and optimistic.

One client specifically said: “every coaching session with your is a trigger for creating a life the way we want it!”

Do you use any specific tools to be efficient with your clients?

Mindfulness exercises, meditation techniques, pranayama exercises (traditional yogic breathing techniques), affirmations, tapping (EFT), somatic exercises from yoga, Ayurveda and other holistic practices.

The Impact:

If you had a super megaphone that, when you speak into, the whole world will hear your message, what would you say?

Be humble and stay humble.

Don’t take anything or anyone for granted.

Don’t let money, success, fame, arrogance or hate blind you.

Life is unpredictable and can be cruel.

From your lowest you can go to your highest and vice versa.

By staying humble, grounded and in your centre, you stay balanced.

It is in this inner balance where you can find peace and create positivity in your life.

So cherish every moment and be grateful for everything and everyone.

Be kind and help when you can.

What is the greatest lesson you have learned in your life?

I have two lessons to share.

One positive and one negative, which can be turned into positive.

The positive lesson is that I discovered my potential is unlimited.

Having a rigid and limited mindset can keep you living a linear life.

But that is just a mental block that can be lifted and then a whole new world of living is discovered.

The negative lesson is that life is unpredictable and everything can change from one moment to the other.

We are not able to control or hold on anything or anyone.

But what we can do is stay centred in ourselves, accept the changes and become resilient.

That’s why staying humble and being grateful on a daily basis is crucial.

Your final thoughts?

In this time and age, we should all focus on creating a better society and world.

If we can see the pandemic as a learning experience, that should be to be better humans with respect to others and the environment.

As coaches, we have the power, tools, technology and platforms to help people discover themselves and transform.

To change the world, we need to change ourselves first.

We need to take responsibility and do the inner work.

Be the change we want to see in the world.

Find Life Coach | Meet Quiana Barrett Nevarez: How to Reprogram Your Subconscious to Feel Empowered, Liberated, and Happy?

Quiana Barrett Nevarez is one of the coaches that we found this month and we did a little interview with her. She impressed us with her passion and dedication.

She is a revolutionary mentor whose path to coaching intertwines resilience, passion, and commitment to personal growth. She started her coaching odyssey in 2020, when she found her initial inspiration within the realm of cosmetology, leveraging her innate talent to embark on a journey of education and self discovery.

Her encounters with adversity, the crucible of judgment, and the trials of navigating traumatic events truly shaped her into the empathetic and insightful guide she is today. With a toolkit enriched by diverse educational backgrounds and methodologies such as Neuro linguistic Programming (NLP) and Hypnotherapy, she offers a bespoke coaching experience that delves deep into the unconscious, unraveling barriers and empowering clients to rewrite their narratives.

She is unique in her coaching. But what truly sets her apart is the fusion of her personal journey, educational prowess, and unwavering passion, creating a transformative space where clients emerge invigorated, liberated, and armed with the tools to reclaim control over their lives. Here is what she said.

Meet Life Coach Quiana Barrett Nevarez:

find-life-coach-quiana-barrett-nevarez

Name: Quiana Barrett Nevarez

Pillar: The Spirit, The Mind, The Heart

Who is this coach for: Anyone who wants to reprogram themselves, heal, feel empowered, happy, and liberated to live as their greatest selves.

How they can help: By using various tools and techniques like Hypnotherapy and NLP.

First of all, how are you and your family doing after these Pandemic times?

My family and I are doing very well.

During the pandemic I had my first book release “Laws of the Limitless” and our family business shut down for a while but we actually bounced back with expansion.

During the Pandemic we utilized the time to brainstorm and make sure we were all well mentally and physically.

How did the coronavirus pandemic affect your clients? Did it affect you at all?

I actually began coaching in 2020.

It didn’t have an affect on me.

What are the biggest lessons that you learned in this pandemic?

I learned how important the correlation of the mind and the body work together in order to create optimal results.

That with the power of the mind you are truly able to control what is going on inside of the body.

The Origin:

Tell us about you, your career, how you started with your coaching career?

My coaching experience actually started in 2020.

I began coaching because of my talent in cosmetology.

I became an educator which made me very comfortable in front of the room.

My teaching led to wanting to give back to people in large scales and help with life experiences that I have survived through.

What was your biggest obstacle that you had to overcome in your life that made you who you are today?

I would have to say adversity.

I have been through many traumatic events in my life and have dealt with judgment of others not being understood as someone who is anti social and introverted.

I have had many critics say many harsh things about me that I had to overcome.

I believe the adversity made me resilient and kept me hungry to want more.

I learned to turn my pain into passion and I believe I have mastered it at this point.

The Coaching Style:

How do you innovate with coaching your clients?

I am constantly learning new things.

I have mixed all my educational background to create a masterpiece.

The knowledge of teaching techniques, as well as Neuro linguistic Programming (NLP) and Hypnotherapy.

I am really able to get deep in the unconscious and fix somethings that may be hindering them and address barriers that they may not be aware of.

What’s unique about your coaching approach?

Honestly, I have used every tool that I recommend to my clients.

Being that every individual is unique, I bring my life experience and path to my sessions when necessary to add an extra layer of safety and relate ability.

So my passion coupled with my education and experience in life assist in so many ways.

I am able to put myself in their shoes and speak directly from the heart.

I also blend my techniques, all of them which makes the experience extraordinary.

What benefits do your clients get after working with you?

I have a history of creating optimal results.

After a session with me my clients normally feel empowered, invigorated, liberated as well as hopeful.

The benefits of hypnotherapy in itself is amazing.

I have utilized it to repair some serious damage that has been created overtime in ones life span.

Do you use any specific tools to be efficient with your clients?

Yes, I use self hypnosis recordings so they can take home our experience and use it to repeat messages that will eventually reprogram their entire systems.

We train our minds based on repetition.

So it is important that they have this tool in their hands to take control over their lives.

It also gives us an opportunity as a team to scale their performance and get excited about the fact that they took control over their lives.

Just the level of excitement alone creates a vibration and an amazing energy that produces positive results and serotonin release.

The Impact:

If you had a super megaphone that, when you speak into, the whole world will hear your message, what would you say?

Be intentional and accountable in co creating your universe.

Truly take time to organize your mind with clear thoughts and align it with material and tools to support those ideas so you can manifest any result you choose.

Every goal no matter small or large will super charge you to keep going.

What is the greatest lesson you have learned in your life?

The greatest lesson I have learned in my life is everything is truly based on your sensory system and communication.

Literally, everything that you see, hear, taste, feel, and touch penetrates your unconscious mind creating your perception.

While others are projecting what they perceive on you, your response to their projections will dictate the world around you.

Your final thoughts?

I absolutely love what I do.

The one thing that I have learned about leading and teaching is the more that you do something the more you excel in it and become proficient in it.

To master the art of the mind and healing has not only empowered myself but it is a very rare and beautiful gift that I can offer the world now.

I am always excited about is delivering hope, healing and power.

It feels amazing and really good not just for my clients but selfishly speaking for myself as well.

I would’ve never thought a woman that had extremely humble beginnings could find her purpose through her path.

I look forward to be a continuous support to others and delivering these gifts.
