Joseph L. Burgess is one of the coaches that we found this month and we did a little interview with him. He impressed us with his unbelievable persistence and life story.

His life can be a testament that everything is possible. At just 19, a devastating motor vehicle accident left him with injuries so severe that survival was considered a miracle. His coaching is also as unique as him. What sets him apart in the coaching realm is his unique perspective shaped by firsthand adversity. Meet Life Coach Joseph L. Burgess:

find-life-coach-joseph-l-burgess

Name: Joseph L. Burgess

Pillar: The Spirit, The Mind, The Heart

Who is this coach for: Anyone who wants to be inspired to change their perspective, reach their goals and make the impossible possible.

How they can help: By addressing and overcoming negative beliefs, reframing and constructing a more positive mindset, and motivating his clients for greatness.

The Origin:

Tell us about you, your career, how you started with your coaching career?

To tell you a bit about me and how I started my coaching career are actually the effect of my cause.

When I was nearly 19 years old I was involved in a motor vehicle accident.

I survived an injury so severe that 9,99% of other people who suffered the severity of my injury didn’t survive, and because of that my mental health was destroyed.

Depressed, suicidal, and anxious were my everyday life, until I discovered the power of the mind, when I was finally able to calm the chaos that I was surviving in before.

I dove in head first because I was finding answers the medical field was privy to.

I found answers whenever I had a question, and this path has led me to you, so there is purpose for our connection!

I think you can somewhat see that I’m all over the place, but to be honest if humans were that easy to understand someone would have done it before!

We are each a construct of our experience which plays out as our consciousness.

Now, some of the puzzle can exhibit dissonance and hubris of an emotional attachment to an experience with an unwavering pendulum, and that’s conviction of the unconscious mind, but is dependent on both the conscious and subconscious minds to process the stimulus that is perceived in a moment.

The Coaching Style:

How do you innovate with coaching your clients?

My ability to connect with a person allows tremendous transformation, because I’ve been it, so I see it, and that’s why I know that I can help.

What’s unique about your coaching approach?

My thing is my origin story and that’s why I have the perspective that can help people get results, because most are hindered by an emotional state that they can’t move past… and in comes me!

I have devoted my life to understanding long before I am where I am today.

I am very empathic, so I feel everything, but I know what needs to be addressed to get rid of pain and limiting beliefs that are holding so many of us back.

What benefits do your clients get after working with you?

Clients gain mental clarity, problem solving, a an overall positive well being.

We will set goals, figure out the actionable steps to attain the destination, whether that be mental health, finding a lasting relationship, or becoming your own boss.

It is my job to see their success!

The Impact:

If you had a super megaphone that, when you speak into, the whole world will hear your message, what would you say?

If I could shout from the rooftops to everyone that can hear I would tell them that… When you tap into your limitless potential you too can achieve your dreams!

I wasn’t supposed to do any of this, and in fact the doctors thought I wouldn’t make it through the first night.

What is the greatest lesson you have learned in your life?

The greatest lesson that I have ever learned is the only way to fail is to quit, so as long as you don’t give up you will get there!

Your final thoughts?

Thank you for reading.

Here is what she said.

Meet Life Coach Soonjin Cho:

find-life-coach-soonjin-cho

Name: Soonjin Cho

Pillar: The Spirit, The Body, The Heart

Who is this coach for: Anyone who wants to heal from childhood traumas, embody their spirit self, and relieve themselves from physical pain.

How they can help: Through energy healing, spiritual coaching, uncovering the traumatic memories and releasing the energetic charge around them.

First of all, how are you and your family doing after these Pandemic times?

First, condolences to the families who lost family members during the pandemic.

So many lives were lost, and many suffer either from the side effects of the vaccine or experiencing secondary symptoms of the virus.

With just this reason only, we are blessed and counting on our blessings.

The pandemic created a new era in our modern day lives.

I remember how dreary I felt when my children came home as school was closing indefinitely, and turned into remote learning.

I remember thinking, the last thing they needed was more screen time!

But as the law of this universe goes, we experienced the dichotomy of this global disaster.

We were bonding tighter as a family, boys were becoming more proficient with their knowledge of computers.

And I actually had a legitimate reason to rest to my heart’s content.

The boom of zoom and webinars created new facets of learning possible and erased the stigma of not being as sufficient.

My children missed friends, but online community and game time made up for it.

All in all, we are glad to be on the other side of it.

How did the coronavirus pandemic affect your clients? Did it affect you at all?

Yes it did.

As you remember, the first two years, there was no contact.

Clients and I were no exception to that.

When the restriction reduced, we were able to work with the mask on.

Of course hand washing was a vigilant practice.

What are the biggest lessons that you learned in this pandemic?

Love.

It was love on a global level.

Yes. It was true too, there were so many hate crimes left and right as we witnessed on social media, on TV, in the neighborhood levels, and so on.

But just as these crimes were rampant, we also experienced love and care first hand, not only in the community with those hardest working personnel such as workers at the grocery stores, delivery men, garbage collectors, nurses and doctors putting their own lives in the front line, tirelessly working to save lives.

On the global level, countries were donating masks and goods to all over the world.

The pandemic taught me that love prevails.

The Origin:

Tell us about you, your career, how you started with your coaching career?

Thank you for the Opportunity.

I am a spiritually attuned empath, a healer with energy activated hands, and a master practitioner of integrative healing arts modalities including yoga therapy.

And now, I have taken a role as spiritual life coach, combining the expertise of my hands on skills, as well as being a clairsentient, and a claircognizant.

Plus the experiences of the past, as I am a survivor of an infant and child abuse and sexual abuse, transpired into a healer, not only for others, but ultimately healing myself.

And I say this proudly, because I came out to the other side of the tunnel of a very arduous self healing journey of life time.

My active self healing journey began by divine intervention 1996, when I altered my education to be a massage therapist.

Up until then, I knew I was in a lot of pain, but didn’t know how to process the emotional hurt that I was feeling, let alone the physical one.

I started talk therapy in my 20s, but I saw its limitations.

No matter how much I talked about it, the pain stored in my body was not going away.

Getting into the world of bodywork has brought not only immense amounts of knowledge of somato energetic relationships but ultimately a gift of self healing, transcending to the high realm of spirituality.

I used to have odd experiences that I remember clearly as early as 2, 3 years of age, which now I would call them as spiritual experiences.

A miraculous life altering event happened when I was 18, beating all the difficulties and challenges, I was given a chance to go to England.

That was back in 1989.

A lot has happened between then and now, involving my choices and connections in life.

Spirituality has the pivotal role both in my work and life.

I have been practicing meditation for over 30 years.

Back in January 2nd in 2023, deep in the meditation, sudden knowing simultaneously occurred.

It was a moment when my ego self came to meet the spirit within me (spirit self).

This unique experience was so profound!!!

If I would describe, initial recognition of the spirit self merged in the heart center and throughout my body, as if every cell of my body was embodying this spirit.

I felt connected with everything and one with the universe.

While being awed by this experience, an awareness came, that this spirit is pure energy of love.

That I am love and I am a part of the Source Love.

And by way of this love is how this universe operates.

This was my awakening moment.

From then on, it was only a matter of time that my ego self came to an alignment with the plan of the universe for me practicing love and compassion.

I came to an awareness of the mission and the purpose of why I came to Earth, and why I had to undergo the hardest experiences in this lifetime.

And it was to appreciate love.

And in order to truly appreciate love, I needed to experience lovelessness.

All of the experiences were lessons for me to learn and transmute hatred, anger, fear, sadness, loneliness, greed, jealousy… all of that into love, compassion, kindness, joy, selflessness, and empathy.

I come to realize, my life is no longer about me but to share and practice this love and practice compassion through my healing abilities.

To reach out to those who are in need of love the most, the most disadvantaged, abuse survivors: child abuse, domestic abuse, sexual abuse, trauma survivors, and so on.

I was naturally drawn to work with survivors since I shared their experiences.

What was once a curse, became a blessing and special advantage.

Survivors could relate to me and I to them.

I started a podcast on YouTube last year as an effort of community outreach, sharing my experiences of the past, and the ongoing progression of my healing journey into the future.

I am currently working on a few coaching programs that will enable me to go beyond one on one, and outreach at a community and global level, as a speaker for the cause.

What was your biggest obstacle that you had to overcome in your life that made you who you are today?

By far, it was myself.

I struggled for the longest time, with limiting beliefs of myself, self sabotage, most of all, lack of self love.

The Coaching Style:

How do you innovate with coaching your clients?

That is a great question.

First of all, it starts with me.

The words of wisdom ‘live what you preach’ indicates, it is all about self love.

Without knowing and practicing self love, I won’t be able to authentically offer spiritual coaching to others.

The practice of self love is the ability to say ‘No’.

It is an acquired ability.

It is about setting clear boundaries with others including the self.

Survivors have no or very little abilities when it comes to recognizing this nobility.

Therefore, they fall into a victimhood because of the circumstances and often unknowingly.

The other component is my background as a hands on Healing Arts therapy practitioner.

The foundation of my work is to assist my clients aline with their own healing frequencies so that clients are able to release trauma based energy cysts, energy blocks, and energy imbalancing.

These energy cysts, blocks and imbalances manifest into many maldies in our being.

Clients undergo Holistic integration of therapies, and experience true synergic healing of body, mind, emotion, and spirit, the four pillars of healing.

This process enables clients their own self awareness of being.

One step closer to commune with their spirit self.

During the session, we will uncover traumatic memories of the area being released.

We will converse while I facilitate the session.

I often channel messages upon releases of the energy cysts, either from the universe or their spirit self, resulting in harmony of body, mind, emotion, and spiritual aspects, once again the four pillars of healing.

Clients may have emotional releases in physical manifestations, such as sensation of weight being lifted, tingling, shaking, warmth, hot or cold sensations, laughter, tears, energetic awareness, etc.

These experiences result in a sense of peace, communing with their deeper self or spiritual self.

Being able to work with energy allows me to facilitate a session remotely.

What’s unique about your coaching approach?

Foremost uniqueness about my coaching approach is bringing the client’s awareness of their energetic state on the physical level.

Being guided, often, clients are able to communicate with their physical body, and pain and suffering that the body is experiencing.

This is how the self healing process occurs.

What benefits do your clients get after working with you?

The practice of spirituality comes from the desire to deeply know oneself.

Clients working with me, not only get relief of physical discomfort, but they also gain deeper awareness of self, uncovering what are hidden to them.

A step closer to discovering their spiritual self, rejoicing in Peace.

Peace is a very important emotional component for abuse survivors.

Do you use any specific tools to be efficient with your clients?

Yes.

It is breath.

The must tool, to ground oneself and to go within.

I guide clients with it.

It helps clients quickly go into a meditative state.

The Impact:

If you had a super megaphone that, when you speak into, the whole world will hear your message, what would you say?

See the world through their eyes!

This is a practice of compassion and kindness.

Treating others how you want to be treated.

The world will be a better place if one more of us lived this way, as we all have the ability to live with love and kindness.

What is the greatest lesson you have learned in your life?

This is a hard question since there are so many, as I have mentioned a few above.

But if I have to choose one, it has to be Surrender.

Surrendering to the Divine, the universe.

It is because one has to let go of a desire for control in order to not only attain peace, but to experience true miracles orchestrated by the universe.

As the wise saying goes ‘Let go and let God’ fit this description.

Me getting out of my way, so that the Divine can work its magic.

Your final thoughts?

Often, the abuse starts early in one’s childhood, during the developmental phases of our lives.

The survivors often do not have even a concept of it being abused at such young ages.

As adults, what they feel is pain, but often do not know why.

Abuse truly corrupts the sense of self in the soul level.

While all survivors suffer, only a few break free from the suffering of what is done to them.

Those few have a sincere desire and dedication to heal, self knowing that leads to uniting with spirit self, being one with the Divine.

Exploring the Depths of Existence and The Mystery of Knowing: “How do we know?”

How do we know? This fundamental question drives human curiosity and exploration.

In the realm of quantum physics, we ponder the existence of the stillest quiet, the black hole, and the space of pure potential.

But if such phenomena exists, does it have any relevance or care for human beings?

Lately, I have been feeling that my thoughts are mere projections of some unconscious motive.

Could it be that my unconscious motive and questioning… is my insecurity about believing that there is something out there or in there that’s better?

Could my insecurity about believing in something greater be the driving force behind these questions?

As I reflect, I realize that this might not be the right question.

Instead, I wonder, why question at all?

Exploring the Depths of Existence and The Mystery of Knowing:

the-mystery-of-knowing

If there is a purpose to life, and it is for me to decide, then what should I choose?

Should I seek something better than the present moment?

If the present moment is all there is, why does that notion feel so limiting?

Why isn’t the present moment enough?

These questions drive me to explore deeper.

Living in the Present and the Flow State

One answer might be that there is nothing but the present moment.

At times, I can be better and feel better, striving to maintain a flow state akin to Maslow’s hierarchy of self actualization.

However, this doesn’t sit right with my liberal soul.

Does living my best life equate to living a life of privilege?

If so, is privilege inherently a good thing?

The Decision Tree of Life

It feels like I am navigating a decision tree, where each choice leads me back to the starting point.

As a therapist, I notice people making rapid progress and rapid regress.

What could be causing this dichotomy?

Shifting Connections and Consciousness

I believe people are beginning to have less connection with each other.

This connection will persist but will evolve to align with a new level of consciousness.

What drives people to either strive harder or give up?

There are indeed individuals motivated to not try harder, which is a judgment but also a sad commentary on our society.

The Role of the Therapist

As a therapist, it is disheartening when people regress to psychosis or delusion, making them vulnerable to manipulation.

Without delving into a rant, I leave this point here.

Perhaps I need to find that place of silence and quiet.

Does anyone else experience these feelings?

I can’t be the only one.

Conclusion

In the exploration of quantum physics, consciousness, and human experience, we grapple with fundamental questions of existence, purpose, and connection.

As we seek to understand the deeper motives behind our thoughts and actions, we strive for a balance between living in the present and aspiring for a better future.

Through this journey, we discover the complexities of human motivation and the evolving nature of our connections with each other and The Universe.

Journey 1. From Searching a Job to becoming LinkedIn’s Top Coaching & Mentoring Voice 2024

My first journey is from my job search and career transition to being recognized as LinkedIn Top Coaching and Mentoring Voice in 2024 and Top 10 Female Coaches Making an Impact in 2024.

During my career transition many years ago, I worked as a career coach at Pine Street Inn and JVS in Boston.

Both organizations had job search programs for motivated professionals.

These experiences had a pivotal effect on the direction of my career.

My career journey and the complex challenges that my job search program participants (at Pine Street Inn and JVS) managed and overcame inspired me to create my award-winning coaching program: FastTrack2YrDreamJob.

I created this program to help professionals land their dream job in the shortest path.

2. From Behind The Iron Curtain to a Life In The Free World

My 2nd journey is based on my observations as the child of immigrants.

I was born in the United States.

I observed life behind the Iron Curtain for the many summers that I spent as a youngster and young adult traveling with my family to Budapest, Hungary.

Creating their new life in the U.S., I witnessed my parents’ resilience, adaptability and determination.

My observations spending summers in Budapest shaped my mindset and perspectives on goal setting, taking initiative, and overcoming obstacles with faith and persistence.

These 2 journeys have shaped me deeply!

I am grateful for every challenge along the way and all of the ways that illustrated to me, the power of believing in my skills, impact, and passions.

It has enabled me to help guide professionals through the many challenges and frustrations of the job search toward achieving their career and life goals in the shortest path.

The True Treasures of Life: How to Discover Your Inner Riches

Imagine walking through a grand, ancient forest, where every step you take leads you deeper into your soul, closer to home.

As the sunlight filters through the trees, you stumble upon a clearing filled with 4 radiant flowers, the greatest treasures of life: joy, love, peace, and fulfillment.

These are the true gems, not hidden in distant lands or elusive achievements, but within your very own heart.

These treasures are what everyone is secretly seeking, we suffer, fight wars, destroy worlds, go through so many hardships just to peak a glimpse into one of these 4 treasures.

We believe it’s about something else, but at the core of everything we believe we are seeking are these 4 flowers.

And the greatest irony of all is that each of them are already within us.

It’s just that we are blind to them, we cannot see the clearing because our sunlight is blocked by heavy clouds.

How to Discover Your Inner Riches?

Think of this transformation as a journey into a new, uncharted territory.

And the first thing you need to do is to throw your map away.

The one that society made you believe it’s the correct map.

This journey into your own heart and soul doesn’t requre a map, you already know the path.

You just need to start listening to your own intuition again.

To access the 4 treasures and discover your inner wealth, you must first navigate through the tangled underbrush of fears, doubts, and past hurts.

Visualize these obstacles as dark, menacing clouds blocking the sun’s warmth.

When you clear away these clouds, you uncover the brilliant sunlight that will show you the joy, love, peace, and fulfillment that has always been there, waiting for you.

And all you need to start this journey is your wilingness.

5 Steps to Uncover The True Treasures of Life:

how-to-discover-treasures-of-life

1. Practice Gratitude: Planting Seeds in Your Inner Garden

Imagine your heart as a vast, fertile garden, waiting for seeds of joy to be sown.

Each morning, as you awaken, you have the opportunity to plant these seeds by practicing gratitude.

Picture yourself standing in this garden, looking around at the rich soil.

The simple act of acknowledging what you’re thankful for is like planting seeds that will grow into vibrant, blooming flowers.

Start with small, daily observations.

Perhaps it’s the warmth of the sun on your face or the comforting sound of a loved one’s voice.

Each moment of gratitude is a seed that, when nurtured, will blossom into joy.

The more you plant, the more colorful and fragrant your inner garden becomes.

When you practice gratitude, you’re not just making a list, you’re engaging in a ritual of appreciation that transforms ordinary moments into extraordinary experiences.

This act of cultivation helps shift your focus from what’s missing to what’s already present, enriching your life with an abundance of inner beauty.

2. Set Positive Intentions: Marking Your Trail in the Forest

As you continue your journey set positive intentions.

Think of setting positive intentions as marking a trail through a lush forest.

At the beginning of each day, you decide which path to follow, guiding your steps towards a more fulfilling journey.

These intentions act as signposts, directing your focus and energy towards the experiences you want to cultivate.

Each morning, take a moment to envision the kind of day you want to have.

Picture yourself walking along a path filled with opportunities for joy, love, and growth.

As you set these intentions, you’re laying down markers that help you navigate through the day, ensuring that you stay on course toward your desired experiences.

By setting positive intentions, you align your actions with your inner values, creating a roadmap that leads you through the forest of daily life with purpose and clarity.

3. Mindful Breathing: Clearing the Cobwebs of Stress

Now it’s time to calm the inner storm and clear the cobwebs of stress.

Envision yourself beside a serene, crystal clear lake, the surface calm and undisturbed.

This lake represents your mind, and your breath is the gentle breeze that smooths the water.

Each breath in and out is like a soft wind, clearing away the cobwebs of stress and anxiety that have accumulated over time.

To practice mindful breathing, find a quiet space where you can sit comfortably.

Close your eyes and focus on the natural rhythm of your breath.

As you inhale, imagine drawing in pure, revitalizing energy.

As you exhale, visualize releasing all tension and worries.

With each breath, you’re like a gardener tending to a garden, gently removing the weeds of stress and allowing your inner calm to flourish.

This simple practice helps center you and brings you back to the present moment, much like a compass guiding you through a dense forest.

It clears your mental landscape, allowing the beauty of inner peace to shine through.

The more present you are, the closer to home you are, and closer to home it means closer to the 4 treasures.

4. Forgive and Release: Setting Free the Butterfly of Pain

Visualize forgiveness as a delicate butterfly emerging from a cocoon.

For years, this butterfly has been trapped in a state of hurt and resentment, unable to fly freely.

By practicing forgiveness, you’re gently opening the cocoon and allowing this butterfly to take flight, releasing the pain and negative energy that once bound it.

Start by forgiving yourself.

Reflect on any mistakes or regrets you hold onto.

Picture these regrets as heavy stones in a backpack.

As you forgive yourself, imagine removing each stone, lightening your load.

Remember that you are human like everyone else and that from time to time humans make mistakes.

The emotion of regret, blame, guilt, shame, those emotions exist to give you a message, to tell you that maybe there is something you need to improve.

If you can redeem yourself great, if not, holding onto these emotions is not helping anyone.

Feel them, hear their message, and let them go.

Next, turn your attention to others.

Imagine these individuals as shadows in your life, and by forgiving them, you’re shining a light on these shadows, dispelling them and freeing yourself from their grasp.

Forgiveness doesn’t mean forgetting, it means releasing the emotional charge attached to past hurts.

By doing so, you clear the space within your heart for more positive, uplifting experiences to take root.

5. Connect with Nature: Reconnecting with the Earth’s Serenity

Imagine yourself standing at the edge of a tranquil meadow, surrounded by the beauty and stillness of nature.

This meadow represents a space of inner peace and balance, offering a respite from the chaos of everyday life.

Once you free yourself from all the heavy emotions you carry with yourself, once you see your inner sunshine again, you will be able to come back to this place of serenity.

But there is also an outer way to connect with this inner place.

And that’s by connecting with nature.

Spend time outdoors, whether it’s a walk in the park, a hike in the woods, or simply sitting by a river.

As you connect with nature, you’re grounding yourself in the present moment, much like a tree’s roots anchoring it firmly to the earth.

This connection helps you tap into the natural rhythms of life, aligning your inner state with the tranquility of the natural world.

Nature has a way of reminding us of life’s simple joys and the beauty that exists all around us.

By immersing yourself in nature, you refresh your spirit and gain a deeper appreciation for the treasures within.

Stubbornness vs. Persistence: How to Correctly Differentiate Them?

Ever hit a roadblock and wondered if you should keep pushing or change course?

This common dilemma often boils down to a crucial distinction: stubbornness versus persistence.

These two traits might seem similar, but understanding their differences can significantly impact your life and goals.

Stubbornness is holding on to an idea, plan, or belief even when it’s clearly not working.

It often involves refusing to consider other options or feedback and is usually driven by ego, fear of failure, or a need to be right.

But then, what is persistence?

How to know when to keep going and when to give up?

Can letting go sometimes be the best option on the table?

What is the difference between Stubbornness vs. Persistence?

Watch the video below and you will understand the key difference between Stubbornness and Persistence…

How to Differentiate Stubbornness and Persistence Correctly:

Embracing Persistence

Persistence is your secret weapon for overcoming challenges, learning from your mistakes, and achieving your dreams.

Embracing persistence means not fearing failure, as you recognize it as a mere stepping stone to success.

If you catch yourself being stubborn, don’t be too hard on yourself.

Acknowledge it and work on shifting your mindset.

Stay open to new perspectives, actively seek feedback, and be flexible enough to adjust your path.

Keep in mind that the most successful individuals are often those who remain steadfastly persistent.
