Most people who excel in their area of expertise like inventors, gurus, geniuses and teachers attribute their achievements to intuition.
Intuition is the guiding voice that tells you what is the right thing to do when you don’t have enough information to be certain.
Like a muscle, intuition is trained and developed. Everytime we practice listening to our intuition we get better at understanding what it says.
Ego is the identity we have for ourselves. It’s constructed by everything we identify ourselves with, even the meaning we give to our memories and our personal story.
It’s a structure that does not want to change. Everything new should fit in the already predetermined structure, otherwise it’s scary and unappealing for the ego.
While intuition serves the soul and is a force of expansion, the ego serves itself, the structure of beliefs and the identity.
Once we successfully tap into our intuition, we will likely become the person we were meant to be. However, the ego doesn’t allow us to do that because it threatens its existence.
The ego exists thanks to the person we are right now and every change to our identity looks like death in its eyes.
This fear-based character that hides in our minds wants to be always in control. It even masks itself as intuition to protect itself from pain, change or any vulnerability.
Hence, it is of utmost importance that we’re able to detect when an ego pretends to be an intuition.
7 Signs You are Listening to Your Ego and Not Your Intuition
Here are the 7 signs to determine when it’s truly your intuition that is speaking:
1. The Ego is always the loudest voice in your head.
Our mind is capable of thinking between 35 to 48 thoughts per minute. Yet most of these thoughts are not our own thoughts.
We pick up streams of information from the collective consciousness that surrounds us all.
Thus, it’s necessary that you slow down and spend quiet moments with yourself alone so you can hear your own voice. Intuition speaks in a whisper and you can’t hear it unless you are attuned with yourself.
Meditation helps you to tap into your inner silence where the voice of intuition can be heard.
Because intuition also connects through your feelings, tapping into your heart-centered awareness is important as well.
The ego is always the loudest voice in your head. If you listen to a voice that forcefully tries to be louder than any other thought, that’s your ego speaking.
2. Intuition doesn’t pressure, threaten or force you to do anything that is against your will, the Ego does.
Your soul is timeless and so is the voice of your intuition. It doesn’t threaten you to do a thing right away or else you may dislike the consequences of your inaction.
Your intuition gives you the confidence that you will get to where you’re supposed to be at the right time.
The ego is threatened by time and feeds on the fear inside you. It will act based on this fear and persuade you to do or not do things using your fear.
For example, you already know that there is potential danger of changing your place of living. It’s a small danger but still you know it’s there. Your soul wants you to change your place of living because it will help you grow and become a better version of yourself.
Your intuition guides you to do it. However, your ego is not ok with that. So, it uses the fact that there might be potential danger and exaggerates it to extreme. And now you are afraid.
It starts telling you stories, consequences and reasons why you shouldn’t do it. It forces you to see everything that could go wrong. Your fear might get so intense that you wake up with anxiety or have panic attacks just thinking to move there.
And after a while of overthinking, you justify it to yourself why you shouldn’t do it.
But your intuition is gentle, it doesn’t rush with anything. Your intuition is guiding you to feel what you WANT to do because it just wants you to celebrate, to love, to be joyful, and to get excited about life.
3. Intuition is speaking through emotions, the Ego is speaking through thoughts.
In moments when you don’t know what voice you’re listening to, don’t try to listen, feel.
Unlike your intuition, the ego wants to be heard rationally.
Your intuition is always there with you, guiding you even when you’re unaware of it. In fact, the emotions you feel are part of your intuition.
Next time you don’t know what voice to listen, do what you FEEL you should do.
You don’t have to be less confident in tapping to your intuitive guidance just because of the outcome your choices bring, it’s given to you for a reason.
Remember, your soul wants you to grow.
Tapping into your intuition is knowing that there is a Higher Intelligence beyond your conscious mind that’s ready to help you at any moment.
4. Intuition develops differently for each person.
Once you’re able to constantly attune yourself with your intuition by following it and making courageous decisions, the universe will open up to you more opportunities and will give you more signs.
Intuition works differently with different people. Some people hear things, some just know, some get answers or signs from lyrics of songs, while others get inspired by giving advice to others.
It is best to be aware of how your intuition works and constantly test it.
The more you trust that inner guidance, the more it reveals itself to you until it will become a major guiding force in your life.
The ego, however, is always developed in the same manner. It speaks through your thoughts, it acts as if it is you and defends with fear.
5. Intuition doesn’t guarantee you a life free of pain or change, the Ego does everything to prevent those things.
What the ego believes is that if it can tap into intuition, it will lead you away from pain and bring you everlasting happiness.
But the soul knows fully that this is not the case.
The ego does not want to consider that disadvantageous circumstances are needed for the soul to experience healing and transformation.
The soul knows that sometimes growth requires pain, just like when you grow your muscles.
This is the reason why, at times, intuition leads you to this kind of situations.
Your soul knows that it has to evolve and expand even if it means going through a path full of pain and change. But the ego doesn’t like it.
6. Intuition doesn’t tell you often what to do, instead, it tells you how to be.
A common misconception of intuition is that it acts like a fairy godmother that will direct you where you shall live, whom shall you marry or where shall you work.
If you feel these are the things your intuition is telling you, most likely, you’re not hearing your intuition at all. Rather the voice that speaks as your intuition is actually your ego.
The ego finds solace in a relaxed consciousness. It operates with exact details and definite things.
Intuition might not be giving you a detailed instruction on how your life must go, yet it nudges you, in a most loving way, to where your soul expands the most.
It doesn’t tell you what to do or how to do it. It tells you how to be.
7. The Ego will never tell you to do something that scares you.
Unlike your ego, your intuition might sometimes point you toward something you are really afraid of doing.
Your ego will never tell you to do something that you are afraid of.
However, the greatest treasure is inside the cave you most fear to enter not because that cave is the scariest, but because YOU are most afraid of it.
It’s the act of going beyond your greatest fear that’s actually the treasure you are going to find. That’s what makes you grow into one of the best versions of yourself.

Step 2. Join the Superhuman University:
At Superhuman University, you’ll gain the tools, strategies, and insights to transcend the narrative of your Ego and start playing the Greater Game, the one where your soul and true self are the main players.
Don’t let the ego dictate your story, take the leap to align with your higher self.
Step into a life of expansion, purpose, and fulfillment.
The key to transforming your life is not about finding all the answers but about asking the right questions.
Questions that open doors to clarity, purpose, and growth.
So let me ask you: What questions are you asking yourself right now? Are they questions that empower you, or ones that keep you stuck?
As a life coach, I’ve seen firsthand how the right questions can be life changing.
They have the power to shift your perspective, break old patterns, and guide you toward the life you truly want to live.
And today, I want to show you how asking the right questions can unlock your potential and set you free from uncertainty.
Why We Struggle Without Self Inquiry
Many of us feel stuck in life.
We might feel uncertain about our next steps, unfulfilled despite our efforts, or just lost in the daily grind.
Sound familiar?
One reason this happens is that we don’t stop to ask ourselves meaningful questions.
We get caught up in the routine, waking up, going to work, handling responsibilities, and we operate on autopilot.
We react to life instead of intentionally shaping it.
Without self inquiry, we drift through life without really knowing what we want or why we’re here.
We let external circumstances control us, and we lose sight of our goals, values, and even our sense of self.
But here’s the thing: it doesn’t have to be that way.
By asking the right questions, you can take back control, reconnect with your purpose, and start living a life that’s truly aligned with who you are.
Why Questions Matter
Let’s talk about why questions are so powerful and how they can change your life.
First, questions direct your focus.
Have you ever noticed that what you focus on grows?
If you ask yourself negative questions like, Why does everything go wrong for me? your mind will find reasons to believe that’s true.
But if you ask empowering questions like, What’s one thing I can do to make this better? you shift your focus to possibilities and solutions.
Second, selfinquiry unlocks awareness.
We all have blind spots, patterns or beliefs that hold us back without us even realizing it.
Asking reflective questions brings those hidden thoughts and feelings into the light, giving you the power to change them.
And third, small questions can lead to big change.
Sometimes it’s not the grand, complicated questions that matter most.
Even simple questions like, What makes me happy? or What’s one small step I can take today? can create powerful shifts over time.
Remember, the quality of your life is determined by the quality of the questions you ask yourself.
Practical Steps to Start Asking Powerful Questions
Now that you know why questions are so important, let me share four practical steps to help you start asking the kinds of questions that will transform your life.
Step 1: Start with Daily Reflection Questions.
At the end of each day, take five minutes to ask yourself these three simple questions:
What went well today?
What could I improve?
What am I grateful for?
These questions help you focus on growth and positivity.
Over time, they train your mind to look for opportunities to improve while appreciating the good in your life.
Step 2: Use the ‘5 Whys’ Technique to Go Deeper.
When you’re facing a challenge or feeling stuck, ask yourself, Why? five times. For example:
Q: Why am I feeling unmotivated? A: Because I am avoiding a task.
Q: Why do I keep avoiding this task? A: Because I am afraid to fail.
Q: Why does this fear hold me back? A: Because if I fail I will think I am not good enough.
…
You get the idea.
This technique helps you dig below the surface to uncover the root cause of your struggles.
Once you understand the real issue, you’re much closer to finding a solution.
Step 3: Ask ForwardThinking Questions.
Instead of getting stuck in questions like, Why did this happen to me? try shifting to questions like:
What can I learn from this experience?
What’s one small step I can take today to move forward?
How can I turn this challenge into an opportunity?
Forward thinking questions keep you focused on solutions and possibilities instead of dwelling on problems.
Step 4: Journal for Clarity.
Take the time to write down your answers.
There’s something powerful about putting pen to paper, it helps you organize your thoughts, uncover deeper insights, and reflect on your progress over time.
Journaling is one of the simplest yet most effective tools for self inquiry.
Practical Steps to Start Asking Powerful Questions
So here’s my challenge for you today:
Take a moment to ask yourself this question, What’s one thing I want to improve in my life right now?
Pause, reflect, and write it down.
Don’t just think about it put it into words, because that’s how transformation begins.
Remember, the questions you ask yourself today will shape the life you live tomorrow.
So start asking questions that bring clarity, growth, and purpose into your life.
You have the power to change your story, one question at a time.
In a world filled with societal expectations, rigid structures, and predefined paths, it’s no surprise that many of us feel confined.

What began as a chance encounter with coaching while volunteering as a business mentor soon evolved into a calling. Witnessing a client’s remarkable transformation during their third session sparked a deep desire in Ross to delve into coaching professionally.
He started a journey of self discovery and transformation. Armed with certifications as an NLP Practitioner and an ICF accredited coaching diploma, he now creates bespoke programs that challenge his clients to explore the profound questions: Who are you? Where are you going? How will you get there?
His journey is deeply personal. A challenging period in his late 40s, encapsulated in his evocative poems, shaped his philosophy and approach to coaching. Pillar: The Mind
Who is this coach for: Anyone who wants to gain awareness of who they are, where they are going, and how the get there.

First of all, how are you and your family doing after these Pandemic times?
All well thank you.
How did the coronavirus pandemic affect your clients? Did it affect you at all?
Hardly at all.
I was already working from home and my kids had already flown the nest.
What are the biggest lessons that you learned in this pandemic?
The importance of human connection.
The Origin:
Tell us about you, your career, how you started with your coaching career?
After 26 years in the British Army, I volunteered as a business mentor.
I had a client who wanted coaching, which I was willing to have a go at despite not being trained as a coach at that time.
At the third session, the client turned up like a different person and I thought, ‘Wow, if that’s what coaching can do, I want to be a coach!’.
I went on to train as an NLP Practitioner and then did an ICF accredited coaching diploma.
What was your biggest obstacle that you had to overcome in your life that made you who you are today?
A slowly unfolding crisis in my late 40s when I was still serving in the Army.
These 2 poems are the book ends to the most challenging chapter of my life, 3.5 years in the black hole.
A Familiar Stranger
Two dull lifeless eyes looking back at me, A familiar stranger in my bathroom mirror. No answer to my question, ‘Who are you?’ My sense of self is shattered. I am numb with ….what?
Never have I felt so lost and alone. Yet here I am wherever this is, Adrift with no anchor and no sails In this unknown place. This is where my journey begins.
What does it mean to be, not do? How can you finally be more you? How do you find a life that you love? How do you find a way to choose?
Questions, questions, is where it starts, Questions to open your heart, Open your heart and let light in, This is how your journey begins.
Is it so simple, simply to be? Yes, but that doesn’t mean it’s easy. Take your time to know yourself, Listen and feel for your inner voice.
The road may be long and tough, Yet this is a journey to love, Love for yourself, love for others, This is what really matters.
What’s the secret, how do you start, To find a way to open your heart? Sit still and simply be you, See what comes up and embrace it in full.
This is your way, your truth, your light, It comes from within, no need to fight. Yes, courage is needed to face your fears, And facing them brings a power to heal.
So, let go of others’ voices, Simply be you, It’s your life, Who are you?
All my coaching programmes start with the word ‘intuitive’.
I create a bespoke programme for each client, which is designed to answer 3 questions:
1. Who are you? 2. Where are you going? 3. How will you get there?
I use poetry in my coaching.
I’m the Editor of the “Anthology, Poetry for Coaching – Transformation through Verse” due publication in Nov 2024.
What’s unique about your coaching approach?
I’m drawn to coaching with the shadow side, which is where I believe the learning and healing is to be found.
I take an intuitive approach and I use poetry in my coaching.
What benefits do your clients get after working with you?

What are the biggest lessons that you learned in this pandemic?
The pandemic taught me the importance of adaptability and the power of community.
While in person consultations were limited, the virtual world opened up new ways to reach and support clients.

I officially started coaching in 2017, following a women’s retreat in Marrakech, Morocco.
It was there that I realized my gift of dream interpretation was appreciated by others.
However, I had been aware of my family gift of dreaming to help others since I was 8.
What was your biggest obstacle that you had to overcome in your life that made you who you are today?
My biggest challenge was to believe that the gifts I was born with were viable for making a good living, but my heart kept telling me otherwise.
The Coaching Style:
How do you innovate with coaching your clients?
I am a trained psychotherapist and holistic therapist, trained to incorporate various complementary therapies into my work with clients.
What’s unique about your coaching approach?
The combination of counselling with complementary therapies.
I tailor my treatments to each client, using my various “tools” that resonate best with each person.
What benefits do your clients get after working with you?
Clients learn simple, effective techniques to improve their sleep, and are taught how to use their dreams to make better decisions, both personal and professional.
Do you know that many hit songs, the DNA double helix and even Einstein’s famous equation, e=mc² all came from dreams?
What are you missing out on by not listening to your dreams?
Do you use any specific tools to be efficient with your clients?
No specific tools are used, other than an open heart and mind.
The specific tools required depend on where the client is in their journey.
The Impact:
If you had a super megaphone that, when you speak into, the whole world will hear your message, what would you say?
All the answers you need to be the highest and best version of yourself are to be found within you, not without.
What is the greatest lesson you have learned in your life?
Thoughts are things, when we learn to rise above the bubble of our minds and focus on who we are and what makes our hearts sing, we become master manifestors.
Your final thoughts?
Everything begins with the stories we tell ourselves… the question is, who created the stories?
It is when we unpack those stories that we start to discover who we are and what we are here on earth to do.
