Charles Kent is one of the coaches that we found this month and we did a little interview with him. He impressed us with his wisdom and honesty.
He is on a mission to help men reconnect with their divine masculinity and heal emotional wounds that prevent them from living authentically. After a life altering experience in 2012, when a grounded airline pilot discovered his need to heal, he realized that his journey wasn’t just about his own personal growth, but about the impact he could make on others. Overcoming challenges, including a transformative “dark night of the soul,” he emerged with a deeper understanding of the Universe and its laws, leading him to create a unique coaching program for men seeking wholeness.
His approach blends personal experience with deep insights into evolutionary psychology and vibrational energy, empowering men to reclaim their masculinity, understand their sexual energy, and use it constructively. Far from superficial self improvement, his method encourages men to do the inner work necessary to foster genuine relationships.
He has a deep understanding of the masculine and feminine energies, as well as the masculine and feminine nature coming from evolutionary psychology. As a result, his clients discover how to show up as balanced individuals who don’t need to be “filled” by others but can instead offer their whole selves in relationships. Here is what he said…
Meet Life Coach Charles Kent:
Name: Charles Kent
Pillar: The Spirit, The Heart
Who is this coach for: Any man who wants to reclaim their divine masculine energy.
How they can help: By coaching, guiding, using his programmes and empowering, as well as using various tools and techniques like downloadable pdfs and guided meditations.
First of all, how are you and your family doing after these Pandemic times?
I’m doing well, thank you.
Currently experiencing unexpected change and using it to my advantage.
In life, change is inevitable, growth is optional.
How did the coronavirus pandemic affect your clients? Did it affect you at all?
I gave online support in the form of guided meditations.
I found that I have a gift for it.
What are the biggest lessons that you learned in this pandemic?
It wasn’t a pandemic.
Do your own research and question information that doesn’t sit well with you.
The Origin:
Tell us about you, your career, how you started with your coaching career?
I’m an airline pilot.
In 2012 I was grounded and couldn’t find a way back into aviation.
It was the Universe’s way of telling me that I had to work on myself to heal emotional wounds.
This became apparent when I had a relationship with a single mother.
Her 10 year old son was provoking emotions in me that were coming up for healing.
Being self aware, I recognised that relationship was a gift.
There are no victims or enemies.
The Universe or God only sends angels.
I left that relationship to work on myself.
For the next few years, I went through a “dark night of the soul”, did many self help workshops, practices etc.
In 2016, I again re entered aviation but had noticed I was a different person.
I understood that your life isn’t about you, but about the lives of those you touch.
I decided to create a coaching programme for men to heal their emotional wounds so as to be comfortable in their masculine energy.
This would help men in their personal relationships as relationships are about polarity, and not all men know how to lead and to express themselves in their masculine energy.
In 2017, I qualified as a Life Coach, specialising in the laws of the Universe and how to use our vibrational energy.
Everything in the Universe is about vibration.
All people, places, things, times and events reflect back to us our unique frequency specific signature.
What did you learn from everything that you overcome in your life that made you who you are today?
I’ve always maintained my focus and desire to any goal, despite any obstacles, but have learned to flow downstream as opposed to going upstream to life’s ebb.
The Coaching Style:
How do you innovate with coaching your clients?
I had first written a programme to help people heal their past so as to be able to attract a soulmate relationship.
I found that only women were attract to this.
Having studied more about evolutionary psychology I decided to use the understanding of male and female nature to provide an alternative solution to the “red pilled” community of men of just accepting the genders differing natures as is.
I provided an alternative of “do the work” to include much required inner, energetic work that’s much deeper than the superficial betterment of external factors, such as personal image, hygiene, income, status…
What’s unique about your coaching approach?
I empower men to reclaim their divine masculinity, understanding the nature of their sexual energy and how to constructively use it to elevate their consciousness and how they show up in the world as more balanced individuals.
What benefits do your clients get after working with you?
To be “whole” as a man and be able to share that “wholeness” with another, rather than looking for another to fill any holes in you.
To be with another becomes a choice out of wanting to share what you have, rather than taking what you think you lack.
Do you use any specific tools to be efficient with your clients?
Downloadable pdfs and guided meditations.
The Impact:
If you had a super megaphone that, when you speak into, the whole world will hear your message, what would you say?
Men, learn to use your life force energy to create influence and power over yourself, which are the keys to healthy dominance.
Healthy dominance increases your drive, ambition, service to others, directness, commitment, dedication and self discipline.
What is the greatest lesson you have learned in your life?
That you have a purpose.
When you are ready, it will be brought before you.
Fulfil it in the service of others.
We are unlimited consciousness living a human experience.
How much further can you expand?
Your final thoughts?
Nothing to add.

Most of us think of resilience as the ability to bounce back when things get tough
But resilience is so much more than just bouncing back, it’s about thriving, transforming, and coming through challenges not just intact, but stronger and wiser.
True resilience isn’t just a single skill, it’s a combination of mindsets, tools, and attitudes, each working together, like an umbrella covering us through life’s storms.
And that’s what makes resilience such a powerful, essential skill.
My Personal Story and Credibility as a Resilience Expert
Now, I don’t just talk about resilience because I’ve read about it.
I know resilience on a very personal level.
As a child, I faced a serious eye injury that forced me to learn perseverance and self belief early on.
Growing up in a war torn Lebanon, I learned to live with constant adversity, wars, economic instability, and crisis.
I learned to adapt, to find hope, and to lean on the resilience skills that would get me through some of life’s most difficult times.
In 2021, I left Lebanon, and with my family, I started a new life here in the United States.
First in Maine, then once again restarting in the Houston area.
It was a journey of resilience all over again, new culture, new community, new beginnings.
I share this because resilience is real, it’s something I’ve lived.
And it’s a skill I know I can help others grow.
These experiences shaped my understanding of resilience as more than just ‘bouncing back.’
Resilience is about thriving through life’s most challenging moments, growing from them, and, yes, even finding joy and strength you never knew you had.
Why Resilience Matters?
Imagine for a moment that resilience isn’t just about surviving, but about thriving.
When we develop resilience, we don’t just overcome life’s obstacles, we grow, adapt, and find ways to turn challenges into fuel for our growth.
And in today’s world, resilience has never been more important.
We all face challenges, some of us in ways that others may never see.
But the skills that make us resilient don’t just help us get through the day, they empower us to live each day fully, no matter what.
4 Resilience Skills that Can Save Your Life:
1. Optimism and Positivity (Hope)
Optimism is often misunderstood.
It isn’t about ignoring the negative or pretending everything is okay.
It’s about choosing to see the potential in every situation.
When we hold on to hope, we’re actually recharging our minds, reinforcing that spark of possibility.
Optimism gives us the courage to look forward and move beyond the immediate difficulty.
And trust me, hope has carried me through some incredibly tough moments, times when it was the only thing keeping me going.
2. Coping Skills (Adaptability, Flexibility, Problem Solving, and Perseverance)
Next, there’s adaptability and flexibility, skills that keep us steady when life takes unexpected turns.
Adaptability means we don’t just stick to one path, we find new ways forward.
Flexibility means we can bend without breaking.
Paired with problem solving, these skills help us face obstacles with clarity and creativity, while perseverance keeps us moving.
Every setback is a chance to grow these skills, and in doing so, we learn to handle adversity with confidence.
3. Emotional Awareness and Self Awareness (Self Belief and Self Control)
Then there’s emotional awareness.
Being resilient isn’t about shutting off our emotions, it’s about understanding and navigating them.
Emotional and self awareness help us recognize our strengths and weaknesses, and build self belief.
Self control is the compass that keeps us steady, especially in high stress situations.
These skills allow us to manage our responses and make wise choices, even when emotions run high.
4. Social Support (Family, Friends, Colleagues, and Coaches)
Finally, there’s the invaluable support we get from others.
Family, friends, colleagues, and professionals all form a vital part of our resilience.
We’re not meant to face life’s challenges alone.
In fact, leaning on social support is one of the strongest ways we build and maintain resilience.
As a coach, I’m here to be a part of that support system, to help guide you, encourage you, and remind you that resilience is within your reach.

First of all, how are you and your family doing after these Pandemic times?
My family and I are doing well, and we are grateful for our health and resilience during these challenging times.
The pandemic has provided us with an opportunity to reconnect on a deeper level, prioritize self care, and focus on what truly matters.
It has also given me a renewed appreciation for the importance of holistic health and wellness, which I now bring into my coaching practice with even greater passion and understanding.
How did the coronavirus pandemic affect your clients? Did it affect you at all?
The pandemic brought significant challenges for many of my clients, including increased stress, disruptions to routines, and difficulties in maintaining their health goals.
It underscored the importance of adaptability and resilience.
For me, it was a period of reflection and growth, reinforcing my commitment to supporting clients through uncertainty and enhancing my coaching methods to better address these evolving needs.
In retrospect, this time period for me was a gift.
A gift of time to learn, explore my community walking the neighborhood, stop to smell flowers, hike our many Metro parks, and State parks, read, fall back in love with 1000 piece puzzles, remember how to crochet, become more mindful of the chopping, simmering and all that comes with cooking healthy meals at home.
What are the biggest lessons that you learned in this pandemic?
The pandemic taught me the importance of flexibility, resilience, and self compassion.
It highlighted the value of maintaining a balanced perspective and the need to adapt quickly to changing circumstances.
Most importantly, it reinforced the significance of community and connection in overcoming challenges and achieving wellness.
Also falling back in love with some old habits, puzzles, crochet, reading, everything outdoors, new habits cooking new recipes because I had the time to innovate, have a friend or two over for game night, going back to school was epic challenge and epic reward.
I hope to always stay curious and adventurous, keeps me young.
The Origin:
Tell us about you, your career, how you started with your coaching career?
My journey into health and wellness coaching began from a deep personal quest for balance and well being.
After encountering the gaps in traditional healthcare, particularly in managing chronic conditions and achieving a holistic sense of health, I was driven to make a change.
Years of overwhelming stress as a caregiver for my son with autism left me sleep deprived and dealing with elevated WBC levels.
It became clear that addressing these challenges was crucial for my own well being.
Navigating this difficult period, I realized that making significant lifestyle changes required an initiative taking, hands on approach.
Inspired to have influence, I pursued certification and training to become a Personal Coach through the International Coaching Federation (ICF) as an Associate Certified Coach (ACC).
My curiosity and compassion for a more comprehensive support system led me to further education, culminating in my graduation from Duke University’s Integrative Health and Well Being Coach Training.
Driven by a desire to deepen my expertise, I dedicated over four hundred hours to studying for the National Board Certified Health and Wellness Coaching exam and achieved additional certification in Positive Intelligence.
As a member of the American College of Lifestyle Medicine (ACLM), I have built a foundation of knowledge and experience to support others in their wellness journeys.
This extensive training and certification have equipped me to offer a diverse and well rounded coaching experience through my LLC.
My background and education have enriched my approach, blending practical experience with a deep commitment to personal empowerment and holistic health.
I am passionate about helping others navigate their wellness journeys with the same dedication and empathy that guided my path to becoming a coach.
What was your biggest obstacle that you had to overcome in your life that made you who you are today?
Growing up in an alcoholic family, I moved out at 18 to finish high school with the support of my Aunt and Uncle.
This transition was a pivotal turning point in my life.
Looking back, I feel incredibly fortunate to have avoided physical or sexual harm during those challenging years.
Instead, I recognize that this period was crucial in developing foundational resilience and adaptive skills that have served me well throughout my life.
Raising my amazing son with autism while navigating a demanding career, coping with childhood trauma, enduring an imperfect marriage, and eventually going through a divorce, I discovered a profound inner strength and beauty.
I was very blessed with an amazing daughter with a heart of gold, was a Girl scout leader for 9 years and supported her passions in community service with a proud heart.
Despite any setbacks, bumps in the road and (or) hardships, along with the often tiny joys, I realized always I was grateful, blessed and meant for a life of service to others.
I believe the road bumps are where you gain character, these are opportunities and gifts to learn, alter my perspective to see a different view.
I have remained a natural optimist, seeing the glass as half full, thriving on minimal sleep, and practicing gratitude.
Through it all, I have continued to find joy and purpose in serving others.
These experiences have deeply shaped my approach to health and wellness coaching, allowing me to connect with clients on a profound level.
My journey through personal challenges and triumphs has equipped me with unique insights and a deep commitment to supporting others in their own paths to well being.

Yes, I use various tools to enhance efficiency and effectiveness, including:

Virtual Hippa Compliant Meeting Software: Such as Zoom for remote sessions.
Resource Libraries: For sharing valuable information and updates.
The Impact:
If you had a super megaphone that, when you speak into, the whole world will hear your message, what would you say?
I 100% would say: “Prioritize kindness. It is Free, pass it on, Pass it Inward and toward yourself and others. Embrace holistic well being and remember that every small positive actioneven just 1% can create a ripple effect of change. Together, we can build a more compassionate, healthier world.”
What is the greatest lesson you have learned in your life?
The greatest lesson I have learned is that true wellness encompasses more than just physical health, it involves emotional, mental, and social well being.
Integrating all aspects of health into a cohesive approach is crucial for achieving lasting, meaningful change.
Most definitely people need people.
I created Meetup group called with my sense of humor: Jennifer’s Shenangin Hiking series.
Hikes and walks paired with those in our metro parks, some ended with soup or hot cocoa too!
I took my son’s spinner from Twister and made spinner give away for hand wipes, a new toothbrush, a candle or a back scratcher (Big ticket items $$ I bought from the dollar store LOL made it so much fun).
I would ask questions about favorite childhood toys and many happy stories and memories ensured about Easybake ovens, trains, legos… pure joy for all so it was a great time for all.
Even while people had to show proof of vaccine, wear a mask, drive in snow and ice I would have 40+ strangers from all over Ohio come, we need one another.
We all thrive with connection and common interests, socializing and sharing in the community experience and of course outdoors with a little Mother Nature using all our senses.
Noting what works for others may not work for me or a client, we are all so unique and meant to be exactly as we are and appreciate our own worth and individualism and of course we all benefit from some levity, my hilarious sense of humor… well that is subjective lol.
Your final thoughts?
My final thoughts.
I am so happy to be in the wellness space.
It is a critical time for many.
I feel it is the second wave of adjustments socially.
People are now not quite sure or as confident about their social skills, with emotional and mental health on top of their physical well being and lifestyle habits I am aimed at getting people, families friends outside for some fresh air and Mother nature, benevolence and healing, as well as spiritual gifts remedy is getting back outside with a sense of awe and wonder.
My ultimate “final” thoughts are that health and wellness are deeply personal journeys that benefit from a compassionate and holistic approach.
By embracing kindness, staying adaptable, and focusing on continuous growth, we can all make meaningful strides toward our well being goals.
I am here to support and guide you every step of the way, helping you achieve a balanced, fulfilling life.
It’s never about me or my agenda.
I am not a therapist nor a consultant but a partner, a guide on the side.

Merdeka Van Wissekerke is one of the coaches that we found this month and we did a little interview with her. She impressed us with her strength of character, love to help others, and her enormous heart.
Her journey began over two years ago, inspired by a post pandemic world where uncertainty loomed, and many sought deeper meaning and purpose in their lives. With a natural talent for guiding others and a passion for helping people regain control, she turned a lifelong knack for advice into a transformative career, empowering individuals to overcome obstacles and design fulfilling lives.
Her passion to help others is unmatched. Drawing from deeply personal experiences, like stepping away from her career to care for her aging mother, she has developed a unique approach that merges scientific strategies with spiritual insight. By helping clients uncover their deepest desires, face fears, and trust their inner guidance, she creates a roadmap to success that feels both effortless and transformative.
Her coaching approach is pretty unique and uses tools like meditation, visualization, and subconscious reprogramming. She offers a pathway to not just achieve goals but to unlock the boundless potential within. Here is what she said…
Meet Life Coach Merdeka Van Wissekerke:
Name: Merdeka Van Wissekerke
Pillar: The Spirit, The Mind, The Heart
Who is this coach for: Anyone who wants to face their fears, improve their relationships, gain clarity, flourish into the best version of themselves and manifest their ideal life.
How they can help: By using various tool and techniques like writing, meditation, and visualization just to name a few.
First of all, how are you and your family doing after these Pandemic times?
My family is thriving after the chaos of the pandemic.
How did the coronavirus pandemic affect your clients? Did it affect you at all?
I was not affected by the pandemic.
My clients were affected in a positive way in that they leveraged the challenge and used this program to get them moving in the direction of what they really wanted.
What are the biggest lessons that you learned in this pandemic?
What I learned most during the pandemic was the power of the mind and our ability to either be controlled by what’s going on outside of us or turn our attention inwards and create from a place of what brings us joy and inspiration.
What you focus on expands. Period.
The Origin:
Tell us about you, your career, how you started with your coaching career?
I began my career as a life and mindset coach over 2 years ago.
I really saw a need for people to get control over their lives especially post the pandemic where everything seemed so uncertain for most.
I noticed that many were faced with losing their jobs as well as becoming aware that what they were currently doing was not fulfilling on a deeper level.
I felt people seeking out a deeper purpose and a way to create a life filled with meaning.
I’ve always enjoyed being the one people come to for advice and being able to help others feel better about themselves and improve their situation.
Coaching has been something I’ve always done and I just decided to make it my main thing while making a living helping others get what they want in life.
What was your biggest obstacle that you had to overcome in your life that made you who you are today?
The biggest obstacle I had to overcome began when my 80 year old mother fell down a flight of stairs and broke her neck.
By the grace of the Divine, she was not paralyzed however, she needed a great deal of support that our family could not afford to hire out for.
I stopped working so I could be her full time caregiver and lived off my savings and credit cards so I could be with her.
After getting her on her feet and able to walk and do some basic things on her own, my dad passed away and I moved in full time so she wouldn’t be alone.
No job and still living off savings and credit cards.
Although doing this put me in the red for many months, I would not have changed a thing about this decision.
Spending the last year and a half of my mom’s life with her was one of the most rewarding experiences of my entire life.
Being able to return the love and care that she gave me while I was growing up was an incredible gift to both of us.
The Coaching Style:
How do you innovate with coaching your clients?
When working with clients, I spend a lot of time in the beginning focussing on what they really want.
I take them through a step by step process in uncovering what their deepest desires are and find out what might be getting in the way of them receiving this.
Then, we follow a scientific and spiritual method that allows them to actually take the steps towards achieving their goals, creating a roadmap to get them from where they are to where they want to be in an easy and effortless way.
What’s unique about your coaching approach?
What’s unique about my coaching is that we work with the deeper consciousness of the individual.
I teach my clients that they don’t need anything outside of themselves (including me) to get the life that they want.
My goal is to empower them to feel confident in the decisions they make, trusting their inner guidance as their GPS and not the outside world.
What benefits do your clients get after working with you?
My clients have learned to face the fears that were stopping them from achieving their goals.
They’ve went on to start their own businesses, gain clarity on their purpose in life, improved the quality of their relationships, received the motivation to finally take action on their dreams and more.
Do you use any specific tools to be efficient with your clients?
I use different writing, meditation and visualization techniques to help my clients access their visions and plant them into their subconscious minds, making it easier to manifest.
The Impact:
If you had a super megaphone that, when you speak into, the whole world will hear your message, what would you say?
You absolutely have everything inside of you to create ANYTHING you want!
You are worthy and you are capable of doing, being and having it all.
Follow the impulses given to you by your heart.
These come in the form of your desires.
Don’t let your fears, doubts and limited thinking stand in the way of you living the life you dream of.
This is not a practice run!
You have this one chance to make your life all that it can be.
Stop procrastinating.
Take the action and start living the way you were meant to live.
What is the greatest lesson you have learned in your life?
The greatest lesson I’ve learned in life is to enjoy the present moment.
The future takes care of itself if you are living your truth.
Never take for granted that you will have another day to make the phone call, to go after your dreams, to tell someone you love them or to simply be happy.
Happiness is a choice we make every morning when we wake up.
Your final thoughts?
Final thoughts…
As someone who is devoted to the highest expression of humanity coming alive in this time, I believe this is the moment we have all been waiting for.
The changes we want to see in our external world need to happen within each and every one of us first and this starts within.
We need to change our ideas and beliefs of what is possible.
We need to upgrade the paradigms that have been running our decisions and our lives for way too long.
We all want to live in a world where everyone’s needs are met in abundance…
To feel that calm sense of peace and freedom knowing that our home life is stable, secure, full of love with money flowing and community growing.
All of creation grows from the inside out.
Like a seed, we too have the potential inside of us for greatness.
Stop settling for mediocrity and step into your power as a creative being!
The world needs you now more than ever.

Moving to a new home is an exciting milestone, but the process can be overwhelming.
Many people debate whether to handle the move themselves or hire professional movers.
While a DIY move may seem cost effective, working with professionals often proves to be the smarter choice.
Here are six reasons why hiring professional movers is better than tackling the job on your own.
6 Main Reasons Why Hiring Professional Movers Is Better:
1. Saves Time and Energy
Moving involves more than packing boxes and loading a truck, it’s a time intensive process that can take days or even weeks if you’re managing it alone.
Professional movers are experts at packing, loading, and unloading efficiently, cutting down the time needed for the move.
Their experience allows them to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, freeing you to focus on other priorities, such as work, family, or organizing your new home.
DIY moves, on the other hand, can quickly become exhausting, especially if you’re juggling the move with a busy schedule.
2. Prevents Physical Strain
Lifting heavy furniture, maneuvering appliances, and carrying boxes can lead to serious physical strain or injury.
Professional movers have the training and tools necessary to lift and transport heavy or awkward items safely.
Specialized equipment, like dollies and straps, ensures items are moved without risking your back or damaging your belongings.
Avoiding the physical demands of a move is especially important for those with medical conditions, injuries, or a lack of experience in heavy lifting.
3. Protects Your Belongings
One of the biggest risks of a DIY move is the potential for damaging your possessions.
Movers are skilled in packing items securely to prevent breakage during transit.
They know how to handle fragile, valuable, or oddly shaped items with care.
Most moving companies offer insurance options to cover your belongings, providing peace of mind that your items are protected.
In contrast, improper packing or mishandling during a DIY move can lead to costly damage that might not be covered by your personal insurance.
From planning the logistics to managing heavy lifting, movers handle the most challenging aspects of relocation.
With experts taking care of the hard work, you can focus on adjusting to your new home or saying goodbye to your old one.
DIY moves often come with unexpected challenges, such as equipment failures, time constraints, or lack of help, which can add unnecessary stress.
5. Ensures Efficiency and Expertise
Experienced movers have completed countless relocations, giving them the expertise to anticipate and solve common moving challenges.
They know how to maximize truck space, navigate tight staircases, and disassemble or reassemble furniture efficiently.
Their familiarity with local regulations or permits ensures that your move complies with all requirements, particularly for long distance or interstate moves.
Without this expertise, a DIY move can lead to delays, additional expenses, or logistical headaches.
6. Cost Effective in the Long Run
While a DIY move may appear cheaper upfront, hidden costs can quickly add up.
Consider the following:
Truck Rental and Equipment: Renting a moving truck, dolly, and other tools can be expensive, especially if you underestimate the size or duration of your move.
Fuel and Mileage: Long distance moves can incur significant fuel costs, as well as fees for exceeding mileage limits on rental trucks.
Damages: Replacing or repairing items damaged during a DIY move can outweigh the savings of not hiring movers.
Professional movers provide a comprehensive service, bundling costs like transportation, equipment, and labor into one transparent price.
What You Should Remember?
While a DIY move may work for small, local relocations, hiring professional movers is often the better choice for larger or long distance moves.
Their expertise, efficiency, and attention to detail can save you time, protect your belongings, and reduce stress.
In the end, investing in professional movers can turn a potentially overwhelming experience into a smooth, hassle free transition.
Tapas, a Sanskrit term often translated as purification or austerity, serves as one of the foundational principles in yoga philosophy.
This disciplined process of purification frequently begins on a physical level but extends far deeper, fostering growth and self discovery.
I was reminded of this through a story shared by one of my teachers.
Early in her yoga journey over 55 years ago, she lacked both strength and flexibility but possessed one crucial quality: persistence.
Despite initial discouragement, she committed to her practice, cultivating patience along the way.
This unwavering dedication transformed her into the extraordinary teacher she is today.
A Late but Transformative Start
My own yoga journey began at the age of 55.
Before discovering yoga, my life revolved around music.
I studied classical singing, performed semi professionally, and even founded a nonprofit music organization.
Through singing, I honed my understanding of breath control, which laid the foundation for my exploration of pranayama, or “life force control.”
Breath control is as vital for an opera singer performing outdoors without a microphone as it is for a yoga practitioner seeking to unite the mind and body.
Remarkably, in just three minutes, breath exercises can establish a profound sense of connection.
Curiosity became my guiding principle as I embarked on this journey.
I delved into the works of yoga luminaries such as B.K.S. Iyengar, whose book “Light on Yoga” became a cornerstone of my learning.
I also explored “Light on Pranayama”, opening myself to a wealth of resources that deepened my understanding of yoga’s potential.
Though I had physical strength from years of exercise and attention to nutrition, I quickly realized my flexibility needed improvement.
Starting small, I practiced yoga at home using short DVDs, including the accessible “Yoga with Adriene”.
Over time, my commitment grew.
After three years of solo practice, I felt ready to join a group yoga class.
The Search for Something Deeper
Stepping into my first class marked the beginning of a quest for deeper meaning.
I explored classes from 60 to 70 different teachers and styles, embodying the Sanskrit concept of neti neti (not this, not that).
Slowly, I began to trust my intuition, uncovering moments of bliss and a desire to delve into the philosophical aspects of yoga.
This ultimately led me to pursue yoga teacher training, not only to deepen my practice but also to protect myself from potential injuries during group classes.
Through these studies, I learned to quiet my “monkey mind” and discovered the richness life offers when we confront internal conflicts.
This awareness, often complemented by therapeutic modalities like psychotherapy and hypnotherapy, forms the core of my approach: Conscious Integrative Therapy (CIT).
Is Suffering a Choice?
A recurring theme in therapy discussions is the question: Is suffering a choice?
While it’s neither helpful nor accurate to tell someone in pain that suffering is a choice, it’s essential to acknowledge that suffering is part of the human experience.
As the adage says, “It never gets easier, but you do get stronger.”
Yoga has taught me to attach new, empowering meanings to my experiences.
The wisdom of spiritual teachers, that everything we seek is already within us, resonates deeply, though it can take years to fully comprehend.
For anyone interested in exploring this concept, I recommend Hermann Hesse’s “Siddhartha”, available as a YouTube audiobook.
The Power of Pranayama
Pranayama remains a vital component of my practice.
Whether learning to breathe naturally or mastering techniques like Ujjayi Breathing in Krishnamacharya Vinyasa Yoga, breathwork sustains and enhances life force energy.
Mudras, or hand gestures, complement pranayama by directing and balancing this energy.
These techniques empower practitioners to adjust energy flow, enriching the overall yoga experience.
Lessons in Letting Go
One of the most profound lessons I’ve learned is the art of letting go.
Early in my journey, I often asked my teachers how to release attachments.
Even a Buddhist monk struggled to provide a definitive answer.
Over time, I discovered that when I let go of my expectations, the things I believed were lost often returned in unexpected ways.
This taught me that abundance is not measured by material wealth but by the flow of energy and experiences in our lives.
The Transformative Path of Tapas
Yoga, pranayama, and asana form a journey of continuous purification and discovery.
This path challenges us to explore not only our physical capabilities but also the depths of our minds and spirits.
By embracing tapas with curiosity and commitment, we uncover the profound interconnectedness of breath, movement, and self awareness, guiding us toward a more abundant and fulfilling life.
