The Dr. Dolores Show: Mindset Matters

Our mindset (the way we perceive and respond to the world) has a profound effect not just on our own lives, but on the emotional landscape of our children.
The Origins of Our Mindset: Childhood Programming Runs Deep
As children, we are like emotional sponges.
“In early childhood, we take on what is projected to us as our own truth,” Dr. Fazzino explains. Unfortunately, much of what we absorb isn’t actually true, it’s shaped by the unhealed beliefs, fears, and limitations of the adults around us.
This programming forms the foundation of our mindset, quietly directing our choices and reactions throughout life.
These inherited thought patterns often go unnoticed until we find ourselves stuck, struggling in relationships, battling self doubt, or repeating generational cycles.
“So often it’s our belief programming that creates the complications in our lives,” adds Dr. Fazzino.
Parenting Through a Mindset Shift: Healing Together
The good news? Mindset is not fixed.
It can be changed… and when it is, the ripple effects are powerful.
Chuck Barnard shares, “When you go through a mindset change with your child, it bonds you.”
Parenting becomes less about perfection and more about shared growth.
You’re no longer trying to control your child’s behavior, you’re modeling self awareness, resilience, and openness to transformation.
This is where the healing begins.
The Role of Stress and Emotional Regulation
“Parents must be grounded to model stress management for their children,” Chuck emphasizes.
Children absorb not only our words, but our energy and behaviors.
If we’re constantly overwhelmed, reactive, or disconnected, that becomes their emotional blueprint.
The ability to manage emotions doesn’t come from willpower alone.
“There are tools that help you control and manage your negative emotions so that when life knocks you down, you are not taken down,” Chuck notes.
These tools (whether mindfulness, breathwork, journaling, or therapy) help parents stay regulated so they can guide their children with compassion and clarity.
Your Mindset Affects More Than Just You
Negative thought patterns are rarely personal, they’re often generational.
“It’s the negative thought patterns that generally aren’t only in the child but a family history,” Chuck explains.
These inherited beliefs can unconsciously influence entire family systems.
By changing your mindset, you’re not just altering your own life, you’re breaking chains for future generations.
“Negative thought patterns don’t only impact you, but your whole circle,” Chuck reminds us.
Empowerment Begins With Personal Responsibility
Ultimately, transformation begins with owning your life.
“You are responsible for your life,” Chuck states.
This isn’t about blame, it’s about reclaiming power.
When you believe in your ability to grow, adapt, and shift your inner programming, everything changes.
“If you don’t think you can, then you are going to have problems learning to do it,” Chuck says.
Belief is the foundation for growth.
Your Morning Mindset Sets the Tone for the Day
Mindset isn’t just about big life changes, it’s shaped in the small moments, too.
Dr. Fazzino emphasizes the power of intentional mornings: “How you start the day can pre program the type of day you have.”
A calm, grounded start can set the emotional tone for the entire family.
