People often forget that there are four aspects to overall health, the physical, mental, spiritual and emotional pillars are equally important.

Without unifying the spirit with the other three aspects, you can’t achieve maximum health and happiness.

Through daily prayer or Bible meditations, you can join both the mind and the spirit in powerful synchronicity.

In this guide, we’ll show you how you can unify the spirit and the mind. You don’t have to be a prayer expert or even have any experience at all to benefit from the process.

The Power Of Prayer:

Prayer is a truly amazing and highly underestimated thing.

It has moved people to their greatest achievements, united billions of people under a single belief system, and brought about great change in the world.

Aside from its ability to unify people across borders, classes, races, and genders, prayer also has the unique ability to unify the mind, body, heart and spirit.

When you pray, you’re not only focusing on a specific task, but you’re also channeling spiritual energy throughout your brain, you are feeling it though your feelings and sensing in your body.

Connecting with God is good for mental health. In fact, it’s been proven that a connection to a higher power actually makes you a happier person.

There’s always more peace in trying to understand God’s work and his plan for you.

Though you may never figure it out entirely, the connection that you’ll feel to him while you’re praying is unlike anything else.

Bible and Prayer Meditations:

What’s meant by “bible and prayer meditations”, anyway?

Does that mean sitting and meditating while reading the Bible or praying?

In a way, yes, you’ll be focusing on specific passages or prayers.

But you won’t be “meditating” in the way you imagine. Traditional mediation is about bringing yourself to the present to ground yourself in a clear mind. You don’t usually focus on anything except your breathing.

In Bible or prayer meditation, you’re focusing on the meaning or message of what you’re reading.

For example, if you’re reading the story of Adam and Eve, you’ll want to ask yourself questions like “Why did God punish Adam and Eve?” Or “How does temptation such as Eve’s in the garden affect me in everyday life?”

The story might be just that, a story, but the wisdom within these stories is non questionable. So you might uncover deeper truths that you can implement into your day to day life.

Prayers before bed for adults are just as effective as stories are for children, and can actually help you sleep better and wake up feeling refreshed. A large percentage of people report not getting enough sleep or not sleeping well throughout the night.

Introducing a prayer or Bible meditation session to your nightly routine might help with this issue. There are 2 preparation steps you need to do.

1. Making Time for It.

Now for the most important, and perhaps the most challenging, part of the process, making time for prayer.

Meditation on your prayers will definitely take some time, so you’re going to have to move some things around on your schedule.

Most people save this for either just before bed or when they first wake up.

Waking up to a prayer meditation is a good way to start the day.

The first twenty minutes of your day are crucial to the attitude of the rest of the day, so if you start it off right, you could potentially have a great day every day.

Even life’s biggest challenges can be conquered easier when you have a good start to your day.

2. Finding What To Meditate On.

There’s no rulebook in place that says you have to meditate on this or that.

Simply choose your favorite prayers or Bible passages, say them out loud or read them, and then leave some time after you’re done to truly absorb what you’ve read or said aloud.

It’s always fun to include other people in your meditations, too.

This is why Bible groups are so popular, sometimes it’s just nice to have another perspective. Or whatever religion you are practicing, you can find groups of people who would like to meditate with you.

The Importance Of Spiritual Health:

It’s sad how underestimated the mental, spiritual and emotional health are. We are mainly focused on the physical health even though all of them affect each other.

We don’t place enough value on our spiritual health. And we know that certain spiritual practices have positive effects on mental health.

It’s estimated that about 1 in 5 adults has or has had a mental health condition. That’s a staggering 20% of everyone in the United States.

All it takes is a little bit of focus, some extra time, and maybe even some help from family, friends, or your congregation.

Try praying and meditating on your favorite passages just before bed for better sleep at night.

You don’t have to be obsessed about spirituality or religion, but you also shouldn’t neglect this fundamental pillar of your being if you want to live a balanced life.
