Mild depression is a natural cycle that forces you to work on yourself so you can grow even more. When we try to avoid, suppress it for a long period of time it’s then when this mild depression worsens.

While we try to work on ourselves we don’t have to feel bad all the time. There are things you can do to raise your vibration and feel better even while being depressed.

So what can you do when you can’t win over your own mind and get it to think happy thoughts? How can you raise your vibes and get out of this slump?

1. Take a break from technology.

Do one week technology detox. You will be amazed how better you’ll feel. There is so much negativity that’s thrown into your way when you use technology, like news. But they are just a fraction of the beauty that this world has and this beauty is all around you. Just without this constant feed of negativity you’ll shift your attention towards more positive things. If you can’t do one week technology detox, make a period of your day when you’ll be free from technology.

2. Spend time with a friend.

Call your friends, write to them, go out with at least one of them. Open yourself up, converse, speak your heart out. Do not underestimate the power of human connection, especially with someone you can call a friend, over a cup of coffee or tea. Talk about some good things that you have been a part of, some funny memories and happy moments.

3. Go out and enjoy nature.

Find a park near you or a mountain you can hike on, and just go there. It doesn’t matter if you are alone or with a friend, what’s important is to walk among nature. It will uplift your spirit and reconnect your mind with the bigger picture. It will relax you and refresh your emotional being. If there is sunshine outside it will additionally increase the production of serotonin and recharge your being.

4. Get your body to work.

It doesn’t matter if it’s just a run, an exercise, dance, hike, or yoga, as long as you move your body and sweat the negativity out. Try exercising for at least 20 minutes in a day and you will notice the difference. It is guaranteed to put you in a more relaxed and happier mood.

5. Meditate.

If you do not know how to meditate, just sit down, feel comfortable, breathe deeply, close your eyes, breathe out fully, breathe deeply, breathe out, breathe in, and continue while being focused on your breathing. Just do that for 10 minutes.

6. Spend some time with an animal.

Pets are full with love. Being around pets you cannot help but start giving love back. And when you start giving love you are already vibrating higher than before.

7. Try random acts of kindness.

Go out and do a random act of kindness. I know you are depressed and all you want is for others to give their attention to you. I know you crave love from others. But if you manage to get up, go out, and help someone in even the smallest way, while being depressed, the feeling you’ll get is far better than any attention of feeling sorry others can give you. And as you do this you’ll realize that you are enough by yourself. You’ll feel better and stronger to work on yourself and grow. You will raise your vibrations because you’ll be in a state of abundance.

8. Eat healthy and organic foods.

Instead of punishing yourself for eating junk food, just remember to incorporate green food into your diet. Raw, green foods from the Earth are alive and the highest vibrational food we can ingest. Experiment with superfoods. A lot of them are complete proteins which work to boost our immunity, improve our health, and cleanse and alkalize the body.

9. Listen to your favorite songs.

It’s easy today when you can play any song you want with just an internet connection. What songs put you always in a positive mood? Write a list of all the songs that you can remember and play them. They will bring you into the moment and that presence you feel will connect you with the truth of who you are.

10. Let your inner child run the show.

Ask your heart what it truly wants and follow your inspiration. You don’t need to know where your excitement is going to take you. Enjoy the adventure, this game that we call life. Never let go of your childlike innocence and know that the learning is never over. Just let yourself be like a child for one day.
