Lynndy Gately is one of the coaches that we found this month and we did a little interview with her. She impressed us with her expertise and client centered approach.
She is a powerful example of resilience, having overcome trauma, abuse, and even breast cancer while pursuing her nursing career. Her journey is not just about survival, but about finding the strength to rise and rebuild from within.
She chose not to let her past define her. Instead, she transformed her pain into purpose, creating a safe and compassionate space for women ready to heal, grow, and reclaim their voice.
She now guides women through deep, trauma informed transformation, helping them reconnect with themselves and rewrite their story with strength, self worth, and empowerment. Here is what she said…
Meet Life Coach Lynndy Gately:

Name: Lynndy Gately
Pillar: The Spirit, The Mind, The Body, The Heart
Who is this coach for: Women who have experienced trauma and abuse and are ready to heal, rebuild their self worth, and reclaim their voice.
How they can help: By using trauma informed coaching, holistic practices and tools such as journaling, DBT techniques, grounding exercises, yoga, tai chi, music therapy, and art therapy to build resilience, confidence, and a new empowering life narrative.
First of all, how are you and your family doing in these “crazy” times?
My family and I are doing well.
I was blessed with my first grandchild six months ago.
Everyone is healthy and happy.
How did the coronavirus pandemic affect your clients? Did it affect you at all?
I was a nurse during the height of the pandemic, so I had to protect my pediatric patients and my family members.
Later, when I became a coach, my meetings were done virtually.
My whole family ended up getting the virus except for me.
The Origin:
Tell us about you, your career, how you started with your coaching career?
I have lived in Iowa my entire life.
I am a survivor of trauma and abuse on many levels.
I dug my way out of that and went to get my nursing degree at age 46.
I was diagnosed with breast cancer in the process of taking my nursing boards.
Even though I was doing chemotherapy, I continued to study and take my nursing boards, achieving my RN.
I then went on to achieve a Daisy Award for my leadership in nursing with my pediatric home care patients by creating a healing garden in their home.
I received my Bachelor of Science in Nursing with honors and ended up developing back problems.
I had to reinvent myself due to health issues.
I decided to use the trauma and abuse I endured to create a safe space for women who endured trauma and abuse by becoming a holistic health and life coach focusing on trauma informed coaching.
I foster an environment where women can be supported and experience growth in a compassionate and safe space.
What was your biggest obstacle that you had to overcome in your life that made you who you are today?
Overcoming trauma and abuse.
Kicking the negative self belief that I was less than and unworthy.
What are the biggest lessons that you learned overcoming your greatest obstacle?
I am more than the trauma and abuse I have carried.
I have transformed that pain into building a community of empowered women who lift each other up during hard times and celebrate even the smallest successes.
The Coaching Style:
How do you innovate with coaching your clients?
I do not believe in a cookie cutter approach.
Every woman I coach is unique, so her plan is uniquely hers.
I meet them where they are.
I establish trust in our relationship in a safe place of their choosing.
We find the root of the issue together and go from there.
We create a toolbox together to help them center themselves when negative self beliefs and dissociation start creeping in.
I also provide trauma informed yoga, music therapy, art therapy, and tai chi.
I also provide Christian coaching if they are interested in that path.
I treat the whole person because most of my clients are trying to get back to feeling like a whole person.
What’s unique about your coaching approach?
I have been where my clients are.
I work on a sliding scale.
It is more important to me that my clients get the support they need than the cost.
I provide music and art therapy for expressing emotions that are hard to process.
I provide trauma informed yoga for feeling comfortable in your body and surroundings.
I use tai chi to improve pain and focus caused by stored trauma, helping to build resilience.
What benefits do your clients get after working with you?
I have held the space they are sitting in right now.
I will be their biggest advocate and empower them to succeed even when it seems impossible.
They will come to know they are not a statistic and that they matter.
Together, we will create the epic story of their life.
Do you use any specific tools to be efficient with your clients?
I use journaling and reflection to track my clients’ triggers.
I incorporate DBT skills they are learning.
I take note of what has helped and what has not.
I help them create an emergency plan for when their triggers flare.
I use my Google space to centralize all of my clients’ needs.
I provide guided meditation and grounding exercises as well.
The Impact:
If you had a super megaphone that, when you speak into, the whole world will hear your message, what would you say?
I see you.
You are more than your trauma.
You are enough.
Your voice is important.
I am listening.
Let us write your epic story.
What is the greatest lesson you have learned in your life?
I learned that I am the author of my own narrative.
There is always room to change and grow.
If I do not like the page I am on, I simply turn the page and start writing a new chapter.
Your final thoughts?
In addition to the work I do with my clients, I use grounding exercises after heavy sessions and practice tai chi and yoga daily.
Some coaches shy away from trauma informed coaching.
To me, trauma informed coaching is my wheelhouse.
I feel blessed to hold this space with my clients, to watch them find their voice, grow their resilience, and become the empowered women they were meant to be.
