Meet Life Coach Anne Beth Jordan:

Name: Anne Beth Jordan
Pillar: The Mind
Who is this coach for: Anyone who wants to cut through the complexity, gain clarity, and focus on what really makes them successful.
How they can help: By using active listening, humor, genuine care, and other various coaching tools and techniques.
First of all, how are you and your family doing after these Pandemic times?
I am fine after the pandemic.
It was a wonderful opportunity for me to slow down and take time to look at my career and my life in general.
I made decisions to create a possible new life for myself.
I had been running my own fashion, design, manufacturing, and import business for over 25 years.
Slowing down and not being able to travel gave me a new opportunity to plan a new career, which I did.
I enrolled with The Coaching Academy and completed a Personal and Professional Diploma in life coaching.
This led me to start a new business as a business coach and mentor, specializing, of course, in the trials and tribulations of being in business and its various pathways.
Besides this, the pandemic period gave me another opportunity to begin writing, something I had done for years, specifically through keeping a diary of my travels around the world.
I enrolled in a creative writing course, which led me to begin writing a memoir about a specific period of my life.
I began it in 2021 and finished it in 2023, self publishing it.
I am astonished at what becoming a published author has meant to me.
I knew I could write, but learning to write a full 364 page novel made me realize that writing is a life process.
It enables one to unfold so many mysteries about oneself.
Anyway, my debut novel “Thank You for the Kiss“, a memoir set in Cuba, is now available on Amazon.
Writing this book then led me to start my own YouTube channel, @Letschataboutyou2day, where I chat with indie authors, giving them a chance to be seen, heard, and to share their stories with a wider audience.
This has become one of the most enriching parts of my current life.
I am now working on my second memoir.
My family is very well.
My children are grown up, my grandchildren are growing up, and everyone is getting on with their lives and creating pathways for their future.
How did the coronavirus pandemic affect your clients? Did it affect you at all?
Many were very happy to have this enforced time to slow down and think about alternative ways to live.
Many were delighted to rest, read, and start new hobbies they had long wanted to try.
I coached most of my clients via Zoom, and they loved being able to sit in the comfort of their home space and be coached.
I found it very easy to establish this online rapport and loved interacting with them via Zoom.
During my training, I spent over one hundred hours coaching and being coached by fellow students, and rarely did any of them say they were struggling.
I was lucky to have become involved in this world of coaching, as all the people I met were like minded and delighted with this new lease on life.
Some have remained good friends.
I have met fellow students (now coaches) face to face, and I still chat with others online.
I lapped up that time like a cat laps up a saucer of milk.
I loved that period.
None of the rules or regulations imposed on us by the UK Government annoyed or irritated me.
I lived in a place with the sea on one side and rolling hills on the other, so I was able to go for walks on the beach or in the hills.
I felt blessed by this brief new life and grateful for the time it gave me to start a new chapter.
I was concerned for others, especially the homeless.
But thank God, my local council was proactive in providing shelter and food.
During each quarantine and restrictions, the homeless were taken care of.
My one thought in this area was: if the local councils could be so proactive with the homeless during lockdown, why were they unable to continue when we returned to ‘the new normal’?
What are the biggest lessons that you learned in this pandemic?
“Out of chaos comes opportunity” — an old Chinese proverb.
Realizing how resilient I was and that I could overcome any difficulty presented to me.
Understanding that living on my own was challenging but also an opportunity to begin to understand my own human nature and what a great person I am.
Stepping back, looking at the past and the present, and thanking God and my family for always being there to support me.
And lastly, realizing how lucky I was to be safe and healthy, and that my time had not yet come to depart this world.
The Origin:
Tell us about you, your career, how you started with your coaching career?
As I said earlier, it was during the first quarantine period when I was unable to sell my goods, as I sold to stores and not online.
Most of my clients’ stores were closed, and my main client was unable to sell online or deliver their goods.
Business stopped.
At this juncture, I embarked on completing a Life Coaching PPD Diploma with The Coaching Academy.
I felt myself evolving and growing, enhancing my internal thoughts, and realizing that there was more to life than buying and selling.
I had, of course, done coaching (or rather mentoring) of my own staff throughout the working years, so the process wasn’t entirely unfamiliar.
However, formally learning in depth what coaching is, what it means, and its transformative power and ability to create change was a whole new world for me.
I felt my world blossoming.
Since qualifying, I have been gradually creating networks, reaching out to my ideal clients, and offering workshops, an area I enjoy.
Imparting my life experiences makes me very happy.
What was your biggest obstacle that you had to overcome in your life that made you who you are today?
Shyness and a constant lack of belief that I could be better than I thought I was.
Constant self sabotage that would not allow me to grow my business the way I wanted to.
Despite the above, I was persistent.
I persevered.
I often didn’t give a damn and just got on with what I loved doing.
That made me stronger.
Gradually, through doing the coaching diploma, a new strength emerged, and now I see my life through a new set of lenses.
The Coaching Style:
How do you innovate with coaching your clients?
When I have my first clarity call with a client, I ask them to tell me a little about their vision and mission for themselves personally and (or) for their business.
If they have a vision and mission, I ask them how big that vision is and why it is important to them.
I ask them how they will achieve it.
Slowly, by listening and noticing key words, I can then decide if I will be a good fit to assist them in reaching their desired outcome.
I also find that if I build a genuine rapport with the potential client from the start, both of us will be able to work well together.
What’s unique about your coaching approach?
My working life experience.
Meeting people from diverse cultures.
Understanding that while I coach, I also learn.
Therefore, I feel that my empathy and wisdom really come through in my coaching.
What benefits do your clients get after working with you?
Would it help if I dropped in a couple of testimonials here?
“Insightful, challenging, and transformative, Beth’s guidance reshaped how I approach leadership and decision making.”
“With Beth’s coaching, I gained the ability to cut through complexity and focus on what truly drives success.”
Do you use any specific tools to be efficient with your clients?
Humour.
Listening with intent.
Loving the work I do, as it shows.
Being genuinely happy to see my clients.
Always being on time.
Being courteous yet challenging when required.
Spending time before a session to be mentally and physically present.
If on Zoom, I ensure all my tech is working, as it can be irritating if not.
I always send a PRE session form with questions about how my client is, how they got on with their proposals, and I always remind them to come prepared for the session.
The Impact:
If you had a super megaphone that, when you speak into, the whole world will hear your message, what would you say?
When you have had enough, let it go… before it’s too late to become the person you know you really want to be.
What is the greatest lesson you have learned in your life?
Even if you do not believe you can achieve what you want, banish your inner voice to a desert island and get on with what you love to do.
Your final thoughts?
Thank you for this opportunity to reflect upon my life and my achievements.
I forget who or what I am sometimes, and answering these questions reminds me of where I started and where I am now.
There is so much more to tell, but maybe that could be for another time.
