Hayley Todd is one of the coaches that we found this month and we did a little interview with her. She impressed us with her discipline and experience.

She is a 34 year old fitness and lifestyle coach from New Zealand who moved to Australia at the age of 21. Starting her career in the fitness industry as a sales consultant for fitness centers in Melbourne, she later transitioned into personal training and sports marketing.

She achieved success as a bodybuilding athlete, winning titles in Australia and New Zealand. Afterward, she worked with the Gold Coast City Council to design and implement fitness centers. When the pandemic hit, she shifted her focus to online coaching, building a successful online coaching business in the fitness industry.

Her coaching approach is focused on helping individuals transform into their best selves through fitness, diet, and mindset. Her greatest obstacle in life was to keep moving forward no matter the setbacks, and that taught her a lesson of resilience, dedication and discipline that she is now using to inspire others to overcome their own challenges. First of all, how are you and your family doing after these Pandemic times?

I am doing great and my family are all well after the pandemic.

We are all safe and back to normal after a few years of living in the unknown.

How did the coronavirus pandemic affect your clients? Did it affect you at all?

During that stage I was just entering the online coaching space, so the pandemic did not affect my business, rather it gave me an opportunity to explore and build in the online space.

What are the biggest lessons that you learned in this pandemic?

To always be adaptable and to continue to look for opportunities to build and grow yourself.

The Origin:

Tell us about you, your career, how you started with your coaching career?

I am a 34 year old fitness and lifestyle coach, originally I am from a farm in the South Island of New Zealand where I grew up.

I moved to Australia at the age of 21 years old to start my working career in the fitness industry.

I started as a Sales consultant for fitness centres in Melbourne and later moved into other areas in the fitness industry, including personal training.

After 2, 3 years, I then went into sports marketing where I travelled around Australia, generating revenue and working for different sporting campaigns across the country.

From there I moved to the Gold Coast Australia, where I got back into personal training and coaching, whilst starting to compete in Figure Body Building shows where I became successful as an athlete winning titles in both Australia and New Zealand.

After having some success as a Body Building athlete, I was offered a role with the Gold Coast City Council, where I helped design and implement fitness centres for the council.

I worked full time managing and working across 3 fitness centres to help them get established and up and running.

After the pandemic hit I decided to transfer my skills across to the online coaching space, and continued to build an online coaching business around the fitness industry.

I now currently work from home and also part time for a fitness studio.

I am continuing to build and grow in the online space and to work for myself as a fitness and lifestyle coach.

What was your biggest obstacle that you had to overcome in your life that made you who you are today?

The biggest obstacle to overcome was to continue to keep moving forward regardless of the setbacks.

Also to remove people that are not of high value to your goals and success.

The Coaching Style:

How do you innovate with coaching your clients?

I innovate with my clients by offering a number of services including 1 on 1 private coaching, fitness training programs, food guidance, workouts, goal setting, lifestyle and habits coaching and business consulting and collaborations.

These are offered both online and face to face.

What’s unique about your coaching approach?

The unique thing about my approach is I allow people to tap into their own authentic potential.

My approach is very honest, direct, authentic and real.

My client relationships are built on genuine trust.

What benefits do your clients get after working with you?

The benefits they receive are long lasting whether it is a mindset change, improvement in their relationships, improvements in their bodies and eating habits, self confidence, lifestyle look, or their daily goals and discipline.

The benefits are usually long term for most of the clients I have worked with.

Do you use any specific tools to be efficient with your clients?

I use some tools such as fitness apps, email, messaging, social media, website, and some goal setting and coaching schedules.

The Impact:

If you had a super megaphone that, when you speak into, the whole world will hear your message, what would you say?

My message would be to live a healthier lifestyle that is authentic to you.

I am a believer in living a life that is healthy in your mind, body, and soul.

Fear is what stops you, but courage is what will keep you going.

What is the greatest lesson you have learned in your life?

To never ever give up on your goals, trust yourself first, stay patient and keep moving forward.

Your final thoughts?

The coaching industry has evolved so much and is a space that I have worked in for 13+ years.

I believe that having a coach in your life can make a huge difference between where you are now and where you want to go.
