Lata Ramesh is one of the coaches that we found this month and we did a little interview with her. She impressed us with her thoughtful answers.. but also, with her immense experience, deep intuition and inner guidance when it comes to helping people get rid of anxiety. Her approach is super clear, precise, and well thought out. It’s separated into 3 parts that she calls EUC, short for Educate, Understand, and Control. She is helping her clients develop hope and acceptance in life, and through the process, release the anxiety from within their system. She has a deep understanding of the relationships between the conscious and the subconscious mind. Here is what she said.

Name: Lata Ramesh
Pillar: The Heart and The Mind
Who is this coach for: Anyone, especially women, parents and teens who want to get rid of their anxiety and change negative subconscious patterns and beliefs.
How they can help: By using the E-U-C protocol and help you connect to your own inner power of the mind and the heart.

First of all, how are you and your family doing in these Pandemic times?

My family and I have been doing well doing these pandemic times. There have been rough patches, but we have learnt to support ourselves as well as one another through the struggles.

We have learnt the value of family, the value of spending time together and being more open to sharing with one another.

Let me share one or two examples of our journey.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, we had started a weekly family call every Saturday connecting not only the immediate family, but also the extended family. We talk about problems, discuss solutions, play games, crack jokes, and even talk serious matters like politics and the pandemic.

The calls have really helped in keeping the family together and keeping everyone motivated.

Another change we made is to ensure that we all eat at least one meal together every day without devices or screen time. This has helped exponentially in increasing qualitative bonding within the family.

We have also started doing weekly hikes together, sometimes Bi-weekly. And you know, how powerful the effects of exercise can be, both on the body and the mind!

How does the coronavirus pandemic affect your clients? Did it affect you at all?

The pandemic has affected each one of us in different ways. There were both positive and negative effects that we all experienced.

Many of my clients have been traumatized by different kinds of challenges, many experienced sickness and death in the family, quite a few went through relationship challenges and many families and parents have gone through severe turmoil at home.

There has been an overall increase in stress and anxiety levels for most people.

Some of my clients have been able to look at the challenges more positively and grow from it. Many others are learning to cope in healthier ways.

Personally, I too have seen some difficult situations emerge during the last two years. However, two things really helped me thrive during the pandemic, my spirituality and my coaching.

The more I connected with my own inherent spiritual self, the more I was able to coach myself through the challenges and be an anchor not only for myself but also for family, friends, and clients.

These pandemic times has been somewhat instrumental in deepening my own learning both professionally and personally. In fact, I smile as I write this, for I am seeing a great increase in both left brain activity and right brain work.

As a practitioner and teacher of self love, this for me is a wonderful reminder to pat myself on the back and appreciate myself!

What are the biggest lessons that you learned in this pandemic?

Pandemic has been an excellent teacher for all of us.

One big learning for me was to prioritize what was truly important and not fret about the non-essentials.

I have been reminded of how valuable family and relationships are, and we all have been working on strengthening our bonds with one another.

I also understood the importance of both physical and mental health.

My exercise routines have improved, and I have become far more conscious of what I eat, what habits I have and what lifestyle choices I make.

I have also become more cognizant of what nourishes and nurtures my mind.

Another excellent lesson for me was the practice of working on my ‘inners’.. my ‘inner’ thoughts, my ‘inner’ energy, and my ‘inner’ intentions. Because when the ‘inner’ is fixed, the ‘outer’ gets automatically adjusted.

Great lessons from a great teacher!

The Origin:

Tell us about you, your career, how you started with your coaching career?

Coaching came naturally to me since I was young.

I saw positive results while supporting others, but I also discovered that I could be a great self coach. As a teen and a young adult, I would frequently coach myself out of challenges and a negative mindset.

I entered the formal coaching arena a couple of years back after going through hypnosis and NLP training. I was fascinated as I slowly understood the intricacies of the conscious and the subconscious mind.

I began to see the connection between the problems we face, the perceptions we have and the negative patterns that are created in our subconscious mind.

Any traumatic life event that we go through leaves an impression on the subconscious, which might distort our perceptions, change our beliefs, and leave us fearful, demotivated and prompt us to make wrong choices for ourselves.

As part of my sessions, I integrate hypnosis and NLP techniques into my coaching practice to help the clients reach their goals faster and in a more sustainable way.

When the conscious mind is actively involved to support and empower the subconscious, one experiences joy, accomplishment, and progress.

I particularly enjoy working with women, parents, and teens. I find that the more they are invested in their own wellbeing, they are far more receptive, and consequentially see great progress.

One of my earlier clients was a young teen who came to me because of her anxiety while taking driving tests. She saw amazing results in just one session and continued coming back to me for a few more sessions to find support for other anxieties.

What was your biggest obstacle that you had to overcome in your life that made you who you are today?

I have had several obstacles through my life’s journey.

I went through health challenges very early in life, I also experienced various kinds of trauma at different moments in life. Nonetheless, I can point to two major obstacles that helped me become who I am today.

The first of these challenges happened when I was in my early twenties.. I experienced severe pain and was in bed rest for a long time. That was a turning point in my life where I was taught the need to slow down and was shown the importance of being mindful.

And most importantly, this experience helped me understand how powerful my mind was and the urgency to connect with the healing power of the heart.

This experience was the foundation in my quest for transformation and change.

My second experience happened around a decade back when I had a freak accident and injured my face. That was a turning point for me as I realized that I could create my own destiny through the power of my thoughts.

This awareness catapulted me into a deeper learning about the mind and body connection and ultimately brought me to this place today, where I teach techniques to utilize the power of the mind and of the heart in our own healing process.

In that sense, both these events were not really obstacles but opportunities that supported me and guided me to become who I am today.

The Coaching Style:

How do you innovate with coaching your clients?

In 2019 I had taken a “Heal Your Life” training program which was based on the powerful philosophy of Louise Hay, the world-famous author and teacher.

I find the “Heal your Life” philosophy, an extremely powerful method of helping clients connect with their own innate wisdom and power.

As part of all my coaching sessions, I help my clients to create an internal environment of self acceptance and self love which I believe is essential for all kinds of healing and growth.

For us to heal The Mind of past traumas, negative patterns of thinking and negative beliefs, we need the support of The Heart to help us heal.

This is what I bring into all my sessions and for all my clients: the power of the heart, the power of love which is the ultimate catalyst for any kind of transformation.

What’s unique about your coaching approach?

In my Anxiety coaching sessions, I follow a three-pronged approach. I call it the E-U-C framework.

E-Education
U-Understanding
C-Control

Education: In this part of the session, the client is educated about the anxiety itself, the factors contributing to it, the brain science behind it, and the tools and techniques to manage it. These tools will help them move from a state of ‘I don’t know what to do’ to ‘I can handle and process my worries and fears.’ I also call this the HOPE stage.

Understanding: In this part of the session, the client develops a deeper understanding and awareness of their own mind and the connection between past experiences and present reactions. The client also develops a holistic understanding of how their lifestyle, thinking patterns, traumas, diet and habits influence their anxieties. As part of this understanding, the client will also learn to accept their own mind and emotions and to be in a state of ‘I understand myself and am ok with the way I am now.’ I refer to this the ACCEPTANCE stage.

Control: This is the most empowering part of the process where the client begins to practically apply the education and understanding aspects and starts experiencing results. In this part of the session, the client feels a sense of control over their anxiety, worries, and thought patterns and now begins to acknowledge, ‘I am capable and in charge’ I call this the EMPOWERMENT stage.

I use the E-U-C approach in my sessions, helping my clients develop hope and acceptance, and empowering them towards sustainable change.

What benefits do your clients get after working with you?

Results vary according to individuals and situations.

Those clients who are more invested and committed in utilizing my suggestions and implementing the tools consistently have been seeing amazing results.

I have had teens overcome test and driving anxiety, couples overcome relationship challenges, women cope with loss and grief. I have also had people see profound improvement in physical issues.

All of them have seen a marked improvement in their state of wellbeing, a greater sense of peace and a sense of confidence that they can handle what life will throw at them.

Some of them have seen dramatic improvements and others have seen a slow and steady progress.

I always tell my clients that the relationship between coach and a client is a two way street. I bring in my coaching, my skill set and my loving intentions, and the client brings in commitment and consistent effort.

Team work always produces results.

Do you use any specific tools to be efficient with your clients?

Yes. My biggest tool is my own connection with my ‘higher self’.

I practice active meditation, mindfulness, and reflection to deepen this connection.

When I am connected with my source, I am able to support my clients in connecting with their source as well.

The Impact:

If you had a super megaphone that, when you speak into, the whole world will hear your message, what would you say?

My main message would be TRUST.

Trust yourself, your inner resources and strength.
Trust the Universe and know that you are loved and supported.
Trust the power of goodness, the power of love that will bring in profound healing for one and all.

What is the greatest lesson you have learned in your life?

During the last decade I have lost three of my family members. I have understood that all of us have limited time and that this life is truly a gift.

I want to remember constantly that every moment of my life is priceless and when I spend these moments consciously, in service to my community, to my family and to my ‘higher self’, I have lived well.

There is really no point in looking back and regretting, no sense in looking ahead and being fearful. Rather we live each moment and treat it as a precious gift that we love, respect and honor.

Your final thoughts?

Your thoughts and habits are your biggest friends, choose them wisely.
