Brian Kiley is one of the coaches that we found this month and we did a little interview with him. He impressed us with his self awareness and honesty. He understands that just knowing the “How To” means nothing if the mindset behind that you operate with is limiting your potential to go forward. That’s why he dedicated his coaching to the mindset, helping people change their paradigm. Here is what he said.

First of all, how are you and your family doing in these Pandemic times?
We are doing great. Like most people it took a while to settle into a routine and to learn how to do things a little bit differently. We are fortunate in that we can all work from home.
How does the coronavirus pandemic affect your clients? Did it affect you at all?
The coronavirus affected everybody.
Most coaches and salespeople were accustomed to face to face lead generation, workshops and coaching sessions. We have all had to figure out online lead generation and how to run effective meetings on Zoom.
While part of it is obviously mechanical (learning how to run an online webinar or deciding if you should run Facebook ads), the better part of it is mindset and keeping a great attitude and a focus on your goals no matter what life throws at you.
What are the biggest lessons that you learned in this pandemic?
That we all spend far too much time on the mechanical aspects of our lives.
Things like ‘do I have to wear a mask’, ‘can we go out to eat dinner’, ‘how will I work’ and other things like that.
We are much better served focusing on our mindset. ‘How’s my attitude’, ‘how id this effecting my energy level’, ‘am I staying focused on my goals’.
The question becomes, are my thoughts and actions determined by outside circumstances that are out of my control or by my mindset which I can control.
Tell us about you, your career, how you started with your coaching career?
My entire career has revolved around one concept, serving people.
I’ve had many roles. Sales, Sales Management, Entrepreneur, Pastor, and I founded and ran a non profit for 6 years.
The start of my coaching career is an interesting story. I was a client of Conway Consulting as a Salesperson. With close to 20 years of sales experience, I found Dave Conway to be a breath of fresh air.
I have read many sales books, been on online courses and have been to many sales trainings. Most of the material focused on the mechanical.
Dave Conway focuses on mindset. When I was asked to join their team, I jumped at the opportunity.
What was your biggest obstacle that you had to overcome in your life that made you who you are today?
My Father passed away when I was 19 years old.
I had no concept of how much that impacted my life until I was in my 50’s. It was then I realized that my paradigm told me that I couldn’t count on anything and that anything important to me could be taken away at any time.
I have overcome that by writing, and settling on, a new self image. This way I have been able to choose who I want to become.
I have learned to take very thought captive and ask myself, “does this thought serve me and my goals right now?”
It’s amazing how many thoughts get pushed to the side when you filter them like that.
The Coaching Style:
How do you innovate with coaching your clients?
We create multiple touch points throughout the week to keep people in the right energy field and to keep them from drifting.
We have 2 group training sessions by Zoom per week that are led by Dave Conway. We have another Zoom Meeting that is led by one of our VP of Sales and then I have a weekly coaching call with each of my clients weekly and I am available on an as needed basis.
Some people see diminished value for the client when it’s a Group Coaching call. We have found the opposite to be true. Our clients thrive, love the interaction and the relationships that form inside the group.
What’s unique about your coaching approach?
Like I said before, boutique, group style coaching that allows for multiple touch points throughout the week in addition to an online portal (library) and someone you can get a hold of when you need help.

A clear understanding of what a paradigm is and exactly how it effects their lives.
A new Self image script that they can aspire towards.
A clear understanding of the Sales Process that revolves around mindset and mechanics with a heavy emphasis on mindset. The key role of attitude and setting goals.
Do you use any specific tools to be efficient with your clients?
We have an online portal that is packed with resources for our clients. Part of my coaching within the larger framework of Conway Consulting is to make sure people are pointed in the right direction.
If you had a super megaphone that, when you speak into, the whole world will hear your message, what would you say?
Do not focus on how you do things.
While they are important, most of your success will come from how you think, how you make decisions and your mindset.
What is the greatest lesson you have learned in your life?
That I am primarily left brained and therefore I can easily get hung up on the mechanics of any situation, project or goal.
I really have to watch that and pay far more attention to my thoughts and my attitude.
