The World Health Organization Says Being Single Is Now A ‘Disability’!

A recent decision by the World Health Organization says Single people may now qualify as “Disabled”. And here is why this might be a really good news:

The Telegraph reports that the controversial decision will make it so that in vitro fertilization will be available to heterosexual men and women without a partner, as well as single members of the LGBTQ community, on the same priority level that couples receive.

There are people who disagree with this decision. One such person is Josephine Quintavalle, a pro-life activist and director of Comment on Reproductive Ethics.

He tells The Guardian, “This absurd nonsense is not simply re-defining infertility but completely side-lining the biological process and significance of natural intercourse between a man and a woman.”

Josephine continues by asking, “How long before babies are created and grown on request completely in the lab?”

In defense of this argument, the World Health Organization’s Dr David Adamson believes that this move is about creating medical equality.

“The definition of infertility is now written in such a way that it includes the rights of all individuals to have a family, and that includes single men, single women, gay men, gay women,” says Adamson.

“It puts a stake in the ground and says an individual’s got a right to reproduce whether or not they have a partner. It fundamentally alters who should be included in this group and who should have access to healthcare. It sets an international legal standard. Countries are bound by it,” he adds.

So for those of you who are single, the WHO classifies you as ‘infertile’ which is not necessarily a bad or insulting thing. It simply means that you’re now in the same priority class as couples for access to public IVF funds.

Of course, this does not mean to stop looking for a partner. It’s a beautiful thing to have someone to raise a kid with. This simply gives you the right to have an option to spread your genome without needing a partner.
